Weekly Status Report: 2025/10/19 to 10/25
Added 2025-10-26 23:36:09 +0000 UTCAnother week in the books, another week I can't believe I'm still working on this...
At present, I am at about 2 hours and 13 minutes into the video, not counting any sections ahead I've already edited or any sections that were deleted. That means in the last week I've set up about 30 minutes of the video, give or take.
Within that 30 minutes is...
Ultimate Muscle's Nielsen ratings after the No Respect Arc
The Poison Six-Pack Arc
The "Who's Got the Muscle?" promotional campaign
The Game Boy Advance and GameCube video games
The Fight for the FoxBox TV special
Toonami UK and YTV broadcasts of Ultimate Muscle
LatAm Spanish and PT-BR dubs of Ultimate Muscle
The FoxBox promos about Monsieur Cheeks hosting the FoxBox
Ultimate Muscle's declining popularity
Details about the 4Kids-commissioned episodes of Ultimate Muscle
With this said... I am wrapping up the 2003 section, just starting the Chojin Crown Arc Voice Actor Profiles, so hopefully this section goes quick. The remaining sections are all under 30 minutes.
I also did a bit of shopping this week. My existing setup for my CRT TV game capture is fine but could be better, so I looked at ways to improve what I've got. My perfectionism SEES problems with the setup that could send me into a RAGE when it comes time to edit future videos...
I just bought PSP component cables and will soon buy a RetroTINK 2X Pro so I can capture cleaner video, notably for the PSP. Right now I am using a cheapo AV-to-HDMI converter that, while it works, introduces a number of issues with video quality. While I prefer (or am at least fine with) composite for some older consoles to capture that nostalgic fuzziness, it absolutely does not look good for the PSP, especially because one video next year has a text-heavy PSP game. The PSP won't look good on TV no matter what I do -- it's just how the console is set up to work with these kinds of cables -- so my best bet is to just go to straight capture and use my capture software as a monitor.
I've said this many times before, but I prefer not to use emulators if I can help it. I have absolutely nothing against emulation -- I DO use emulation in some videos (see: Cyborg Kuro-chan section about Robopon Sun... I was not going to buy a copy of Robopon Sun, lol, and I'd still need to emulate the prototype anyways because I didn't have a flash cart), but I prefer to capture footage from the real deal when possible.
There will be a hangout stream on Saturday, November 1, at 4pm ET/1pm PT. Central Ohio is weird about what date trick-or-treating can happen, so if Halloween lands on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, trick-or-treating will happen Thursday. That said, I have no plans on the 31st, lol, but I know other places in the US aren't weird like Columbus, so I won't stream that day.
Weekly Bonus:
A neat thing I am doing.
