When he started the ebooks on Amazon, he had the option to sign up for Kindle Unlimited, but that contract would have required him to stop posting the story anywhere that isn't Amazon.

Just a theory, but I cannot help thinking if the reason Tefler has not put out a new chapter is if he is in negotiations to sell the story to a publisher. IF, they were the case the publisher would stop any new content. I am not sure if that would be a good thing or a bad thing. As long as it would be good for Tefler, then I would continue to support him.

I'm dying for some content. Haven't had my Tefler fix in a while, Michael Scott Earle slowed down his writing, Awaken Online sequel is taking forever, most of literotica is devolving into crappy writing, still waiting for George RR Martin to write the next book, and most other mens fiction writers have been pumping out hot garbage. I think I need a good heady science fiction like Alastair Reynolds to read.

Three point five things. Your support is appreciated, but we expect you will appreciate a best effort. That seems true so far. So first thing is that it will be worth the wait. Second thing is your support being on this month or next is not critical. In part this is thanks to your generosity, because this community kicks seriously bad ass. There are other factors as well, so just thanks for caring but if you aren't dinged for a chapter this month it should be fine. Third thing is consistently chaotic is the best you can expect in any creative effort. Without spoiling anything just trust that if there is a wait, it might be worth it. Thing 3.5 it does not make it worse to wait when you are stuck in a global quarantine, but it does mean it might feel worse. Everyone needs distractions.

Tef’s body clock seems to be roughly mid-Atlantic :-) . So if nothing wonderful has happened by, say, 3:00 am UK time - it ain’t happening ....

So bringing back Faye, why is it taking so long? The sticking point is the software that actually makes it all work at least as far has been explained in story. Yet Irrillith is missing the fact that Daphne is a creation of Faye, Faye didn't recreate the operating software, she couldnt. So she had to have had to copy her own, irrillith should be able to use Daphne's own base software "OS, BIOS, Whatever" to rebuild Faye. At the very least they should have the memories of Faye's creation process of Daphne and how she did it, which should give a tonne of help. Just a thought Tef :)

I was thinking the same thing. Since I don't know Tefler personally I don't know his mind set but I could see him waiting until the last minute just because all the nagging pissed him off. The other thing that came to mind is i hear a lot of whining children saying are we there yet during a long car ride.

We all know that it is taking extra time because Tefler is delivering the classic curveball that will have all of us scratching our head for the next month . . . we didn't see that coming. Either that or between the completion of the tour and then arriving at Olympus a lot of details are covered. I know I read the first half of this chapter at least 10 times from when they start to tour.

I have faith &amp; patience that the Tefmeister will deliver part 2 in time to earn both his paycheque &amp; our thanks in these crazy times!

In Rahn's case the first was killed in battle. The second was either killed by Mael in that battle or he sucked the life out of her to survive his wounds.

Folks, I’ll put out a possibility - and it’s a distinct possibility! - that the delay in getting the next update out isn’t necessarily from Tefler, but rather, from his editors. As an editor, I can tell you that life sometimes interferes with getting your editing done on time. That could well be the case of late. As an author, you don’t want to blame your editors for delays, especially if they’re unpaid editors, but they do happen. Jedi, thank you for the sighting news. That’s enough for now, for me.

Is there any study how long a progenitor matriarch in procreation cycle. The matriarchs change as we found from thoughts of Rahn, but why? Due to aging or new more better and younger thrall replaces the lord's love and acceptance. Is it when the matriarchs start breeding new more nubile thralls come as matriarchs. Second, are the thralls allowed to go to previous home and birth child with local husband as shown in larns country offsprings.or all the offsprings should come from progenitors only. Who then are parents of local males.

@Ricardo &amp; @Arrowglass, you have good ideas, but I think John is not unique. If each progenitor created the next generation from their thrall race, then the child would be that race. I think that, as with John, all offspring come from a race other than the progenitor’s race.

Actually, we do know that John takes after his mother quite a bit (that conversation she had with Alyssa proved as much), but does John noticeably share any of his mother's physical traits? Just how much, if any, does the mother of a progenitor contribute to their physical appearance?

Rahn talks about how he created/fathered John...the end product of all his millenia of research and expertise...to be a "Progenitor killer!" By that very definition, John is different from ALL the other Progenitors right down to problems with his Guide. Sounds to me like Progenitors can certainly have a profound affect on their offspring in the 3SM/Tefler universe!

OK, refresh my memory, is it ever explicitly explained in the story exactly how the mechanics work when a progenitor fathers a child and its species is determined? I mean, I think it's pretty obvious that the baby's species is chosen, but it's not like John can fuck a Trankaran and will the baby to be a Maliri, or impregnate a Maliri and will the baby to be a Terran can he? I assume, when he fathers the child, that he can only will it to either be the mother species, or a full-blooded progenitor. So where am I going with this? Well, assuming that is how it all works, and seeing as Alyssa is a full-blooded progenitor now (or is she?), will John and Alyssa even be able to have anything BUT full-blooded progenitor children?

I don't think she found it. She was likely distracted because she's having to watch for other ships along their flight path so that she can adjust to avoid them. At the rate the Invictus is going, they're creating a gravitational shockwave in their wake that would be devastating to other ships if they got too close.

I was reading parts of chapters the past few days and something occurred to me. Have any of the girls, or John, tried to merge their shields? Forming one enhanced version, rather than several individual ones. Would it even be possible? Would they react when they touched? Would they react mildly, or would they react violently? At the very least, I think it's something they ought to experiment with. I do see one potential problem up front: trying to merge Tashana's flame shields with Sakura's frost shields might have the same reaction as thermite contacting ice. Just something that crossed my mind today.

Looking forward to the next chapter. Hope and pray that everything is going well for Tefler and his family in these crazy times.

On another topic, it was February of last year when I purchased my copy of Tefler's 4th ebook from Amazon. I'd certainly be purchasing Book 5 (and the earlier, printed books if they would continue to come out) upon release... but I haven't seen nor heard anything about this happy event in a long time. I was wondering when the Maliri destroys the Brimorian fleets in Kintark space if Athgiloi tries to call Larn to ask for help against the Maliri only to get Rahn. Not sure how much of they would look different as they then tend to have a template like the thralls. It would be hilarious if John was on board at the time and stepped into the frame and informed him that Larn and his whole empire has been wiped out by him and he will be seeing him in the near future.

Rachel doesn't have the knowledge to do to them what has been done to her and the girls. She is not a Progenitor. Alyssa *might* have that knowledge, but lacks the ability to use it. Having said that, Rachel could (and has) probably increased the quantity and quality of the lifespan of Charles and her father, and could do so as well for the others.
