Status Update - chapter 121

Thanks for the reply. I see your point; however the concept for needing a back up was introduced early on with Illith destroying the terran server and with Nexus. I'm not a server admin either but i'm aware of the concept. If it were me I would have built a back up at the same time. To set up fabricators to fabricate the parts it would not be much trouble to produce a spare. I would have put one on the Raptor just in case they might need to abandon ship, and for instances like when John went out of range to fight the Kirix. Anyway thanks again for the reply and I enjoy the story so far.

The only way to backup Faye was to construct a new Progenitor server. No other hardware they possessed had the storage capacity to back her up. The gateway server was running security for the Invictus' data network and didn't have the capacity for Faye's files. When she was freed from the hacking deck, she expanded exponentionally, taking advantage of all the free space her new supercomputer had to offer. Dana's a self-taught engineer, not a server admin. Building new guns and armour took precedence over spending several days constructing a spare server. Irillith is a hacker, not a server admin. Her mentality is to break into servers, not worry about maintaining them.

Am I the only one wondering why Fey did not have a back up server? Nexus had a back up, even the terran server that Illith fried had a back up. Arn't Illith and Dana supposed to be smart? Seems pretty dumb they would not have created a back up on a dedicated power supply. Even more so knowing if that server failed all data would be perm destroyed and unrecoverable.

No update of chapter 125 being handed over to the editors. I don't see 125 happening by the 24th like the Discord update claimed.

That's a damn good question! Waiting for new updates for this long is a pain in the arse! Even I don't wait this long to update my patrons!

I agree with Alex on this. Being a writer myself, I can tell you that quality of material takes time. You have to make sure that all events written tie into each other and are relevant to the flow of the story. You can't just cobble something together out of thin air and expect it to be a masterpiece. You never rush quality. It will take as long as it takes.

I remember learning of crowds waiting on the docks in NYC for installments of Charles Dickens' and Arthur Conan Doyle novels. They were published in magazines and fans would line up for copies. The withdrawal is real and has been around for more than a century. As a fan of Tefler's, I can say that 3SM is just as enjoyable as anything I read getting my BA.

Chill. Quality takes time. We should be more than content with the fact he puts out a high quality 1-2 chapters a month.

So, why did Rahn’hagon spend the past ten thousand plus years on Arcadia? He should have had the knowledge and been able to scavenge technology from the ship if he wanted to leave... so, why did he not want to leave? Temporal tricks that could come into play here for 121 include precognition and temporal reversal, both of which we’ve seen in this story.

Do the math: Tefler can write absurdly fast at times, but he typically does not do better than one chapter (30K words) per 10 days, i.e. 3K words per day. At 8:30 BST he still had 2K words to write (after a break for dinner). So there could be a lot of midnight oil here, and 1am-3am releases are typical.

Im sory for those people. We have been, and i believe i kan speak for most uf us paetrons, folowing this amazing story for in some cases for more than a year... in my case almost 3( first on lit and a year or so ago i comited). People, tefler is one of the most amazing authors out there, dare i say that if this story had not beguin as it did so heavily sexual in nature, he could be in the same league one day as mr martin or mr brown. This is a shout out for someone in the publishing world because this person, in my opinion, has the talent and creativity to make it out there as a main streamer. I realy think that were ever tefler takes john and the girls, i for one will folow. And when TSM has run its course, i will continue to folow this amazing writer. There all kinds of possible directions right now...the assassins after Lynette,Jehanna, Maria, Henry Voss, etc...the traitor in the fleet working with the Brimorians...the assassins acting on behalf of the Brimorians...the Kintark...the drama with Anna, etal...the Kirrix are still in there...how Rahn's plans all this time are going to affect them...and of course the obvious John and the girls! I...for one at least...love the fact I never know what Tefler is going to come up with next...from what direction...and thoroughly enjoy being surprised and definitely entertained!!! Soooooo...savor the fact were are going to get what we will get when we get it...LOL!!!!!!!!!!

Kobie - I hear ya! I was shocked, traumatised and impossible to live with for a couple of days after reading it. Now, I’m in a quandary about how to treat 121. Do I: 1.Plunge in as usual, and risk getting even more wound up; or 2. Read the end first and if it seems so-so OK then start from the begin knowing, hopefully, that I’m not going to be gutted again; or 3. Do I wait for feedback from others here and on Discord, and when there’s enough info decide whether the chapter is safe to read. Decisions, decisions...

Those scenes with Ailantha and Larn from Chapter 100 really repay rereading: lots of hints about the "family reunion" which is about to take place, their realisation that John "does not know what he is supposed to be doing", Larn's concern when it looks like John will be killed....

Nope, he was viewing John and the girls as they descended towards the surface, but then instructed that Ailantha zoom in on John, as he wasnt interested in his thralls. Larn has no idea that John has given psychic powers to all of his girls.

i have wondered when that attack will happen and how it is going to go down. I do hope Charles does not get killed, Can you imagine an assassin's look on his face shooting them and nothing happens and they clean their butts up with advanced weapons.... Tefler really left some intrigue with the newely upgraded ships heading off to the Brimorian boarder... and what will happen... so much going on, the girls in the Raptor, John abducted and his father. His mother a total mess. the Invictus cut in half.... At least John has given the girls the tools to overcome and make decisions and make a difference where Larn is shit up a creek without a paddle if something happened to him......

Tefler I've been learning a 3D rendering program so I could create ships and then view them from any angle to set up scenes. I'll be able to create very realistic images soon. I would also like to finish some of the images we worked on together initially. I am limited in the turn around time as I run a business so if you need images quickly I understand. But i'm pretty good, and I'm meticulous about proportions and accuracy as opposed to just make it cool even if it does not fit the descriptions. I've been a professional graphic designer and illustrator for 42 years and my work has been published 100's of times CD covers, fantasy conventions, corporate logos, web sites and events of all kinds. Lets reconnect and see if I can create something you like.

When 121 appears I’m not sure I’ll be able to open it! My options are: 1. Go to th end and skim, see if things sound OK-ish, then start from front reading it or 2. Wait for you guys to post up commentary and if it sounds too dire, stay away for another chapter.... I need to know things will be OK before I can immerse myself. What a wimp... <<sigh>></sigh>
