Not out of the realm of possibility. Irillith has shown she is capable of working both in the physical and cyber realms at the same time. All she'd have to do is maintain a presence in the Invictus' cyber realm 24/7 no matter where she is or what she's doing in the physical realm. However, that won't necessarily translate to Alyssa being able to communicate with Faye telepathically. At least not directly - Irillith would have to act as the intermediary.

Just had an interesting thought; in an earlier chapter, Alyssa was bemoaning not being able to hear Faye's thoughts...how about Irillith gaining the ability to speak telepathically with Faye, since her skillset bridges organic and computers.

It's not the editors fault for the delays. Tefler has stated several times that IRL stuff has been keeping him from writing and thus finishing the chapter. As I've stated multiple times now, Tefler only releases a chapter in separate parts under two conditions: 1) It's the end of the month and he has to post something to make sure he gets paid; 2) He's writing a mega chapter (50k+ words as opposed to the normal 30k), where one part of the chapter is equal in length to a normal chapter, and thus it makes sense to release it in separate parts to make sure he's paid fairly. Unless one of those conditions is met, Tefler will give us the full chapter as soon as he's done with it. That includes the first half which the editors have gone over, as well as the second half which the editors have not gone over yet. The editors could very well have finished their work on part one a week ago (Tefler is not obligated to tell us that), but because Tefler hasn't finished part two yet, he won't give us either section fo the chapter until he's done. Normally, when Tefler is firing on all cylinders and can put in a good day's work every day of the week, he'll have finished part two by the time the editors are done with part one.

Hi Nibbles, that’s still Tef’s non-standard way of doing things, and he only does it in unusual circumstances. This is going to be a standard release where the rate determining step is Tef’s completion of the second half of the chapter. Whether or not the editors have finished with H1 has no direct bearing on the release date. Cheers. Tim

Tefler has been releasing quite a lot of the chapters recently in 2 parts though he has not said that Chapter 13 will be released in One or Two parts.

Hiya Rich. A few observations for you...Tefler is male for one. Also, Tefler actually appreciates and often incorporates our ideas (as he sees fit when they add to and fit within his story concept)--per his own words. Just as an FYI.

Strong language itself isn't a bad thing, its how it is used makes the difference. E.g. Swearing at someone to belittle/insult vs to place emphasis on a point made.

Sirloki, i don't think Colin Mears was involved with the Cora or Jessica Blake. He was only promoted from Captain 10 years prior to the invasion. But 10 years prior is also when Buckingham was made Fleet Admiral. whatever shameful deed is in Colin's past probably relates to Buckingham and his misdeeds. that said, you are right to question how Jessica was supposed to steal a corvette and operate it on her own. she would have needed skills in engineering, navigation and general maintenance just to leave the dock, a long shot given she was only an Xeno-biologist.

This is usually around when the chapter is posted. Fingers crossed.

Suggestion: Charles Harris and Lynette host most of John’s crew to socialize, while John and Alyssa do more bonding with Jehanna on the Invictus. The girls ask Charles to tell them some stories about the years he served on the Invictus with John. The flashback stories, from Charles’ perspective, alternate with the current scene of John, Jehanna, and Alyssa. If a tie-in to the current story arc is needed, have Charles remember something distinctive (alien) about John which hasn’t been mentioned yet. Another possibility would be for Faye to hack the old archived security camera footage from the Invictus back during John’s earlier time there, and Faye would make one of her highlights vids to show the crew.

Or it could be within the hour. You never know. I have a feeling that the reason why I'm having trouble getting to sleep right now is because my body is somehow anticipating the chapter dropping shortly, so it wants me to stay up to read it.

@bigdawg - there is definitely something off with Jessica's escape story. I forget his name bit I think the supposedly dead commander of that mission resurfaced as that Vice Admiral that likes to take young female officers under his "wing" and mentor them. There was one brief scene from his perspective where he laments the old days when he was able to just worry about his science mission. Then he ends that thought by saying he regrets doing something really horrible to his crew but it was the cost for his promotion so it was worth it. It could be Jessica is dead and the whole story was made up to explain the cover up and murder of all hands.

Would the nebula's electromagnetic disturbance make it hard to pin point ,or would the star charts not be affected? The charts are only 50 yrs old & as you said probably included in the info they already uncovered . Of course the whole story might be so much BS , a cover up to hide the existence of a dangerous superior intelligence with advance tech that the High Command wanted to go after & were waiting for a chance after another Purge to clear the way . They would have had no idea how much they would be outclassed & thought the Being injured & weak would be dead by the time they got back there .

As suggested by others, I think Buckingham's children being enhanced/altered to some degree is likely. Which means there is perhaps a bit more in play than currently meets the eye, with or without the other Progenitor being involved. Mr. Sleezeball probably has access to/knowledge of something(c/o Admiral Buckingham no doubt, I bet he was placed there by the Admiral "to watch his daughter") that let him take being a scumbag to a whole new level now that daddy is gone.

That kind of depends and the nature and origin of the Shroud doesn't it? The progenitors may have been a peaceful/benign group prior to the Shroud entering the scene. We don't know how big it is, or where exactly it fits in the time-line for the Progenitors. We just know it evidently impacted the Kirrix negatively prior to their first encounter with a Progenitor, and we don't even have a time frame on how long it was between the Shroud appearing and Malnorak turning up in this part of th Galaxy. Much as the Shroud twisted the psionic Kirrix hive-mind, it probably had a much more pronounced impact on the evidently far more psionic Progenitors. Possibly up to and including wiping most of them out, leaving only a relative handful of them alive after all was said and done. Even worse, the process could have been either drawn out over centuries/millenia, or it could have played out in a matter of days before their new Astral (Shroud) overlord had them looking outward. Of course, that raises questions as to what exactly Malnorak had been up to for the Astral Entity when he entered "our section of space." Although it "obviously" seems that whatever he was supposed to be doing, he went off script, and that's when his brother turned up.

Folks, Tefler has almost 2500 patrons and receives every one of our posts. Do we want him reading dozens (upon dozens) of posts that, in summary, could be analogous to a tired child whining, "Are we there, yet?" or do we want him focused upon his writing? I am NOT saying that we shouldn't post, but posting endless guesses and countdowns related to some hypothetical delivery time just, inevitably, pushes that time further out, and potentially, distracts and/or frustrates Tefler in his writing. I would suggest that if you want to post, please post something related to the story, so that it is worth taking the time to read, both for Tefler and ourselves. And yes, every suggestion has exceptions, and this one is no exception.

Faye's chassis has no DNA with which to psychically interact with, ifluence or transform. Would these ideas make sense to Rachel?

We've not seen that MN "created" DNA , the one example we saw was Humans , where he altered the DNA of Neanderthal man to create Cro-Magnon Man . So we know that he has the ability to alter/modify DNA but not create life , as we know it . To do what he did subconsciously John had to have the knowledge in his mind( from his Progenitor DNA) , even if he didn't realize it . If MN couldn't do it , he couldn't have put the knowledge there for John to use .

Will the Advanced Ashanath Warships be disks, ovoids or more conventional in design? They will likely take Calara's advice and include ballistic ordinance with their improved beam weapons. Will they design unique assault and boarding craft for their new Drakkar shock troops?

They'll probably stick around until the Trankarans get their fleets back in action and their borders secured again. So it might be a few weeks.

If the Maliri do not have to fight the Kirrix, they can leave Trankarran space in a matter of days with a fully upgraded fleet.

Alyssa's agreement did not require the Kirrix to return captures to their home colonies. If they do not, prisoners will have to be transferred to the Invictus and the TF fleet, as well as the Maliri and Trankarans, for repatriation.

I wonder if John will send Admiral Zelig to the last two colonies while they travel to Karron?

Fat Tony and the Worm Girls will awake alone but rested. Without power, access to computer support will be lacking. Neither of them are highly literate, experienced in first aide, or know how to treat their injuries beyond the basics. There will be bonding moments for them, filled with anxiety and anticipation. Even if Faye were to hail the asteroid's commo system about their impending arrival, there is no guarantee that they will receive the message. I doubt they would do much exploring, but hunker down and lick their wounds. The arrival of the Invictus would be a surprise, but welcome. Dana will recognize them, even if they have to ferry other rescued colonists home to Karron.

DD...I believe Jade's first few proxy feedings were breast feeding injured girls , she didn't use the tentacocks until feeding the engineers at Genthalis . It's become the go-to method lately so pretty sure her sisters have seen her doing it & should be easy to pick up . The more difficult & complex shifts will need both power up grades from John & Jade's instruction . Looking forward to a squad of Giant green Tiger , Lion , Leopard , Puma & Cheetah or T-rex , Allosaurus , Spinosaurus , Triceratops & Giant Raptor. Scaring your enemy shitless is always a big plus .

Dawg, my post was initially just an anxiety and boredom relief exercise. Thank you for helping me out. ;-) Faye is an AI that resides inside a progenitor computer core. She was able to interact with the physical world via ship systems before she got her chassis. Her observations of the interactions among the crew are her primary models of interpersonal and social interaction. She uses these complex inputs to form the basis of her own personality and sense of right and wrong. Arguably, human children go through a similar growth process, just not as rapidly or self-consciously. But that does not make humans artificial, nor does it make Faye human. Her "thought processes" allow her to "dream" of becoming a real girl, but it is clear that she "worries" that will never happen. I hope that when that clarity is achieved, she will blossom into her own potential.

such a interesting question , if Faye is just a synthetic digital processing system , aren't John & the rest just organic processing systems ? & somehow better? To me Faye is an AI & not just a machine( like an auto-pilot) that processes data but a thinking being . She has shown emotions , feelings , doubts & her wish to be a "real" girl is something a machine would not want , she wants it so she can have John's child . The body they made her give her all the environmental input she lacked as a hologram but falls short, in her mind , in fulfilling her desire to be "one" of the crew .

Faye watched John and Helene sleep. She docked the Invictus with the last Hive ship. She monitored the Lionesses extract the last Terran prisoners. She oversaw triage in the primary hanger for tens of thousands. Her avatars operated the Boys as they eradicated Kirrix infestations. She asked John to speak for her with the survivors while having an intimate personal conversation with Helene. All while secretly manipulating the crew and events to test whether wishes can come true.

Honestly, I was a bit surprised by the religious fervor with which Almari and Ilyana now hold Baen'thelas. I understand the Glowing Queen's mystical view of the Great Creator, as progenitor's form the foundation of their history, religion and mythology. The Maliri assassins were raised on stories that demonized progenitors. Their total flip of cultural point of view, from fear to reverence, was a little jarring, especially since we do not see that sentiment elsewhere.

I am worried that the trajectory of 3SM will leave Dear Maria Fernandez on the periphery of the action. I imagine that her relationship with the Invictus will keep her in the focus of Lynette, and maybe Jehanna and her mother. It is even possible that Edraele will reach out to her just to talk, share information and build a personal relationship. I assume she is using all her access and networks to track Jack's activity against the Kirrix, so is aware that things are trending well for her family and Terra on the frontier. When the Kirrix matter is wrapped up, maybe Lynette will invite her and her security detail to Olympus while Jack's Cruiser is undergoing refit and being upgraded. Jehanna's parents can visit at the same time to meet Lynette, Maria, Jack, Charles and Henry -- all Friends of the Lion's Pride in the TF, together. When the Brimorians move on the Kentark, her attention will be drawn again to the Dragon March. Maria is a strategic player in this epic. She plays multiple supportive roles that qualitatively contribute to the well being of the Girls. She may be able to play a similar role for Faye -- who should give Maria a call -- as she navigates her current anxious moments. I think she would be thrilled to befriend the Nymph Sisters and become another role model for their personality development. Maria will love Helene, too, and would be appalled and motivatedto do something when she learns about the Calypshans. She is looking forwarding to demonstrating to Jack how her healed legs can be used to accentuate their love making. Don't let her fall to the wayside. She is wonderful.

Hi Tefler you always seem to be looking for artists. Have you looked at blackheart videos on you tube and GMV videos . They use game and films to make videos set to new bands. You may be able to get in touch with them for some artist names. If nothing else you will hear some great songs try I'm a ruler, paint it black and bad girls. The Throne Room in the Keep of Alyssa's Astral Pocket Plane had portraits of the Invictus crew and Edraele's network of Wards. Centrally, there was a portrait of John that showed some of the Girls seeming to blend into him. When Alyssa normally takes a psychic look at John's connection to the Girls, she sees them arrayed around him in a collective pose. Thinking about how Tefler tends to foreshadow important story elements, I wonder if the blending pose represents the psychic relationship based on the powers John has transferred to them. In a sense, a similar depiction of LK's links would show him alone in his portrait, as he retains all progenitor powers to himself. To me, John becomes a new type of polyglot progenitor that shares progenitor attributes with an elite team of warrior lovers. This aspect distinguishes him as the emerging unlikely non-standard progenitor plus.

I wouldn't get too excited, I'm sure its going through an editing process as well, so I'm thinking early next week. But seriously .... waiting with bated breath!!

Damn damn damn. Been fighting with Patreon for a month now about a payment issue. Their system will not process a new card. They keep telling me the issue is on my end. I emailed a letter from my bank documenting that the system is putting the incorrect expiration date on the card over a week ago. Still waiting on a response. Meanwhile my creators haven’t been paid and I am locked out of paid posts. I have never experienced such awful customer support. I can’t call and harass them and emails go unanswered except for automated response. Faye is definitely not running their system. I have tried multiple cards and entering on different browsers. Nothing works. Ok. I’ve had my rant. Thanks for the update. Hopefully I’ll get this sorted soon. Preferably before Tefler posts the next chapter.

One possible option that would still keep within the story rules is, instead of a psychic link like he has with everyone else, john and faye establish a cyber based link through some combination of: an implant/neural chip designed by the GEO, advanced cyber realm/cyber psychic training from irilith, new cybernetic parts for fayes body made of a more psychic-receptive material so johns cum can have some, if not all, of its effects leak through. IDK, im just spitballing here, any ideas welcome

When re-reading the ebooks, I find particular interest in the way the early ladies had different attitudes before their first swallow. The ebook revisions showed more of that with Alyssa (bitterness toward their agreement) and Sparks (anger toward John’s lack of sexual exclusivity in his relationship with Alyssa). The next ebook gives you a nice chance to do something special with Rachel, making her own sharp contrast between “before” and “after”. (Once possibility would be for her to have a negative attitude toward being a mother, not wanting a child who might feel betrayed by her, the way Rachel feels betrayed by her own father. Of course “after” she is just like the rest of the crew, even before she reconciles with dad.)

I think it’s time to start from scratch again I think it will be my 5th reread now. I usually start in the ebooks then find the point the ebook finish’s at and carry on from there. Tefler please start the ebooks again you could prob pass that on to your editors for a small percentage of your profits.

Just to weigh in on the Faye question: it wouldn’t be deus ex machina if an overlap or bridge between the digital/cyber realm and the astral plane were to be found. It’s already implied since machines can be built to enhance psychic abilities, and the cyber realm is accessible to organic beings. This could provide a half-step between becoming a real girl and being a being of pure psychic energy, which might satisfy Faye’s longing without rewriting any established “rules”.

I worry about that, too, Jedi. So far, Rachel has a plausible explanation about most that has happened to them. Magic, so far, has not been implicated -- despite Helene's naive belief in wizards.

Thomas, problem is, Faye's body is entirely cybernetic and mechanical. There's not a single biological part in her, so she's not a cyborg. John's spunk worked on Sakura because she was still mostly biological, despite all the cybernetic and mechanical implants. As for John's words to the colonists, he just said she's a Lioness and a valuable member of the crew. It's not his fault they mistook Faye for an exotic alien rather than an AI after that.

Just finished reading chapter 112; thanks Tefler. Kaye’s response to her first infusion seems illogical and for a cyborg that is worse than damning. First, Sakura was a cyborg too and John’s cum worked on her. Second, she only waited 67 minutes before she pronounced abject failure when she knows it too 14 hours for biologicals to start changing. Third, she chanted instead on sleeping to initiate the change. Finally, when John addressed the people from Brecken’s World, he implied she was a biological, if he does not fulfill her desire, “I wish I was a real girl,” he will have effectively lied to the colonists. Hopefully, we will see chunks of hardware start falling out of her very soon.

I do hope Tefler isn't going to pull a deus ex machina to fix Faye's broken soul just because we all feel bad for her. I will be quite disappointed if, after Faye reveals her broken dreams to John, he turns around and does a bipitty-bopitty-boop, three heel clicks, and a nose wiggle to *poof!* start making Faye's mechanical, cybernetic body into flesh and blood.

I guess I need to admit I am powerless and give myself over to a higher power - that being the Great Creator. The problem I think I will encounter when I read the soon to be released chapter 113 is that Tefler will hook me again even when I'm pretending I'm really hanging out for those 'intriguing scenes in the upcoming chapters and just reading 113 to get there..... damn he's good that Tefler!!!!!

No. Tefler usually releases both parts at the same time as one chapter. The first half of the chapter (part 1) will have been edited while the second half (part 2) isn't. The only time Tefler has released part 1 of a chapter before part 2 is when he's tried to meet the end of the month deadline, or when he's writing a mega chapter (50k+ words) and just one part is equal in size to a regular chapter (30k words).
