Status Update (September)

Hey everyone!

I'm back from the Emerald Isle and a very beautiful place it was too! It was my first trip to Ireland and the part we visited (the south west) kind of reminded me of the Lake District in England. If I was planning on writing a fantasy epic, it would have all been very inspiring... maybe in a few years time!

I updated the final version of Chapter 108 yesterday and I'm sitting down to work on Chapter 109 part 2 today. As I mentioned before, you guys won't be billed for that and I'll hopefully wrap it up by about the 8th Sept. It was entertaining reading your comments about the first half of the chapter, hopefully you'll find part 2 interesting. :-)

I'm aiming to complete chapter 110 by about the 20th and chapter 111 finished by the 30th September. I've been planning out the next few chapters with the various scenes I want to include, so I'm fired up to get going with all those.

I better get cracking with 109 part 2!

Ok so I’m guilty of checking today like 10 times at least if it’s been posted. Eagerly waiting but time for bed now will check back in the morning.

oh, give him a damn break!

Nchalada

I,m still hopeful as well.

Normally Tefler would post if it was going to be held over till tomorrow.

andrew finlayson

Chances of getting the chapter today are getting smaller and smaller as the clock ticks down. Latest post that Tefler has done has been 3:00 am his time and it is already 2:22 am for him so I would probably expect the chapter tomorrow.

Apparently not, so be quiet or you won't get anything

R We There Yet?

Big Dude

I do hope we see the continuation of the chapter today. If not there is always tomorrow.

Yes! I liked it a lot too and googled around looking for the completed story. Really bummed that it wasn't finished!

got radio 2 on for Kylie Minogue in Hyde Park an in the UK hope part 2 is bit late

the same old man who is hiding in the fools gold on Karron with a couple of worm girls...

TF4EVA

Of course John could be in the shower (rock hard) and as he pulls back the shower curtain we see him on the Fools Gold and he realises it was all a dream - then he finds Al in the storage room compartment....

TF4EVA

The old man from ch. 1

Mad Jonah who told John about Karron and the Ore he ended up selling to buy the Invictus

Who is jonah

Why would he wake up next to Jonah? O.o

Tefler, I know you're hesitant to post part 2 of 109. I would be too if it's the part where John wakes up from a drunken slumber next to Jonah, only to realize this was all a dream. But I'm surely it will be received warmly!

Won’t be long now arghh the wait is torture.

Has anyone here read Scorpionicus story the alien ship? It was originally posted on literotica and then sold on kindle as a book but he never completed the story. The book was unfinished and I was just wondering if anyone knew any more about it? I really loved the story and am looking for more like it and Tefler’s TSM. I’m actually thinking about writing a story myself to see if I could do it.

One of my favorites too, i've even re-read the story several times waiting for updates and still find tidbits i missed or didn't remember before.

I don't think so as Rachel has looked at the Kirrix DNA and found zero progenitor "finger prints". As for contact, it's anyone's guess but the Kirrix seemed to have survived the last progenitor war when the Trankaran/Archon/Vulkat space was pretty much destroyed of all habitable planets. Or maybe the Kirrix are new to our area of space and their origin is much further away. Hopefully this will be answered for us when John finds Arcadia.

Very much looking forward to the next installment. This is by far my favorite story, and I read a lot. I think I’ve read more than 150 books in the last 6 months.

Hey folks and or Tefler, curious about something. The Kirrix way of incubation in a host, suggests they are capable of ingesting different types of biological matter, being the host may be carbon based or otherwise. Since this is an adaptation it serves to reason different types of Kirrix may be the result, much like in the “Alien” series. I’m curious if now that the story is moving towards Kirrix boarders and space that we will learn more about them and if they had any contact or were perhaps subservient to a progenitor in the past.

Just wondering Evan about the 'ghosts' Alyssa saw on the vessel now known as the legacy. Ship to ship thrall action and we see MN but where was the other progenitor? In any progen on progen battle you would think one of the first aggressive moves would be to set up a null field and the first defensive is to protect against it. From the action Alyssa saw there was no null field as MN was drawing energy. Maybe the other participant must be in certain range and the tech feature does the job - ala like fighting the emperor. When Alyssa did her null zone with the Ashanath we don't know if anything other than speech was impaired so couldn't comment much until we know more about the Kirrix communication methods and styles

TF4EVA

Here's a question. Will the null zone of an Ashanath or that of Alyssa impact the use of the psychic abilities of those who are more powerful? In other words, will the null zone of a single Ashanath, Bolon or other member of a psychic species prevent the girls, Alyssa, John or even Larn'kelnar from using their psychic abilities? What about the reverse? Could Larn'kelnar, John or Alyssa conceivably prevent all communications by an entire planetary population of beings who communicate psychically by using a null zone? Are the Kirrix psychic and do they communicate psychically? Could this be used to prevent and/or disrupt their communications, and if so, at what cost and to what extent?

Evan

Thanks for the update.

I truly enjoy the time I was able to be an at-home dad keep up the great work Telfer

Thanks for the update. We knew it was either today or tomorrow.

12 hours and counting...+/-

Still working on 109 at the moment. Hopefully tomorrow evening if there aren't too many distractions. It was mini-tefler's first week of school and with the wife taking a critical hit to the shoulder, I've been doing all the ferrying around. She's back in action again now, so I'll be firing on full cylinders for the rest of the month. :-)

Tefler

T-minus 2 hrs ish

Braw

Top of the morning, Tefler. So, quick status check: how's the rest of 109 looking? Still on track for a release possibly tonight or more likely tomorrow?

Jedi Khan

I mean for all we know it’s just that. By infesting sentient beings they gain some knowledge. I mean they could just farm the grub production through domesticated livestock or we are just over thinking this.

Alphaonetango

Why are we going Starship Troopers (the movie) and referring to whatever large being John noticed, and that noticed him, as a 'brain bug'?

Evan

I expect they will take over the mind of the brain bug and have it order a full retreat...leaving behind infected individuals and setting captives free.

That sleep thing, and preferably in a regular cycle so the rest of your circadian rhythms can settle in, is incredibly important for mental health let alone physical. I speak from experience and having had to deal with poor health.

Damian Wright

Maybe it's my sleep deprivation, but I was getting ready to ask Tefler if we were still on track for the chapter release today until I realized that it's still the 7th. Two hours of sleep in a 24hr period is not enough for proper cognitive function. How I managed to stay awake through my 12hr shift at work tonight is beyond me.

Jedi Khan

Because Jade had the spunk in her belly, not her breasts like she normally would when feeding the others. Kinda hard to do a stomach pump.

Jedi Khan

In the next 25 minutes Jade and the Sakura in the valkyrie need to rip the outer plates off the dreadnought close to where the captives are and start devouring the juggernaunts, Hivelords and Broodmothers thereabouts. Alyssa needs to lay down an inwardly shrinking psychic null zone centred on the big brain bug and then the rest of the Pride need to encircle it and go for it.

TF4EVA

Another query about a past chapter... pre-Khalgron battle (ch 90) when Jade didn't share John's cum... I wonder why the crew didn't just feed directly from her, rather than proceeding without loading up...

Think it will be more like 24h, it was the 8th.☹️

Spartan 52

still 25 minutes or there abouts to go time!!!!

TF4EVA

No...Nexus was at Ganymede and then a secret base. Before that it was on a remote monitoring station, where we don't know. The Quantum Annihilator was on the moon along with archives so Nexus could upload lost information.

PLRus--Founding member of the TSM F5 club.

MHJ there was one suggestion made earlier that just because Acadia is now in Kirrix space it doesn't mean it is inhbited by Kirrix - especially if there is no food source for the grubs. Another option is the Kirrix have done what the Ashanath have done and have uplifted this interesting space junk (a few thousand years old) and taken it somewhere else (but what about the progen and possible other person i.e. Johns mum - surely not egged up). Another suggestion made linked John's mothers adventures with the Kirrix expansions (40 years) suggesting that there is possible contact of some kind with the Kirrix. In terms of tech we have not seen anything startling from the Kirrix (including the dreadnought) and you would think if there were progen upgraded vessels they would be part of this latest expansion not staying at home. Mind you they might be staying home to guard a secret ...... Soon

TF4EVA

Has there been any discussion/speculation on whether or not the Kirrixx have unlocked any of the proginator tech that possibly lies on Arcadia? I am just pondering how and where the Kirrixx get their technology. It stands to reason with Arcadia lying within Kirrixx controlled space. That they have found the crashed proginator ship, assuming it is still there. Now undoubtably, at first glance it is highly unlikely if not certain that the Kirrixx could not understand and make use of the tech. However I wonder if they have the ability to unlock any of it. Considering the possibilities of how a collective intelligence could work. Relate a collective to a computer. More processors, more computing power. Is it beyond speculation that the Kirrixx could link enough hive minds together. And over a 20year span, begin to develope tech based along the proginator development path. Even if, the best they have are downgraded knock off copies. Much like Dana’s started with. Suppose John decides to make a trip to Arcadia, which it seams likely he will. That as he enters the Arcadia system he encounters upgraded Kirrixx ships. I seriously doubt the crew will come up against anything they cannot handle. However, even moderately upgraded Ships could spell a major increase in the Kirrixx threat for this part of the galaxy. Bring the Kirrixx up to parity with the other races in the storyline. And that puts everyone back on equal footing.

MJHSharkbait365

They found Nexux on the moon, did they not?

If I remember right Nexus was found during the lunar landings early on in the colonizing/mining of the moon.

J.T. White

Like Evan I've been rereading some old chapters but it just struck me that there is no indication of, or further investigation in to, where Nexus was found by the TF before being taken to the top secret research station & incorrectly rebuilt. Maybe Irrilith should do more investigating as it might also be the location of Mael's lab. For that matter how did Mael expect Nexus to activate the Quantum Anhialator on the moon, to stop the human experiment, if Nexus was elsewhere in the galaxy?

Perhaps she died. Of more interest to me is that Thralls were able to board Mael’nerak’s ship and that they were hostile. Did they board it as friends only to betray his hospitality? Did they somehow force a boarding? How did they get aboard and then become embroiled in combat with an enraged Mael’nerak?

Evan

So what happened to the matriarch before Valada? I wonder what the transfer of authority involves.

TF4EVA

I noticed something interesting while I was re-reading the chapters dealing with Mael'nerak and Valada from the recovered data files, and Alyssa's visions aboard the Legacy. There has been a lot of discussion as to who the yellow-skinned redheads might have been. This should address who they were not as it indicates when they were not. In the final videos of Mael'nerak and Valada, Mael'nerak was clean-shaven, so at the time of Ranagon, he no longer wore a goatee, I would guess because Valada preferred him clean-shaven, based upon: 'The image coalesced into that of an elegant throne room, designed very much in the Maliri style, with the picture centred on a tall man seated on the throne. They all immediately recognised Mael’nerak with his pointed ears and distinctive aquiline nose, but he was clean-shaven now and wearing a smart jacket and trousers, rather than the long robes he’d worn before. There was one dramatic difference however: the ancient Progenitor looked relaxed and happy as he gazed across the room. '“You’re looking very handsome today, my Lord,” a woman’s playful voice purred as a beautiful young Maliri woman appeared in the shot and glided over to join him.' In the visions aboard the Legacy, Alyssa saw: 'Mael’nerak’s stern face was contorted with rage, his black goatee framing a mouth twisted with fury. Swirling vortexes of jet-black psychic energy whipped around his arms, the storms of energy matching his furious temper. Ghastly tendrils shot out from his fingers, spearing the yellow-skinned redheads through the chest. Their tortured cries of pain matched the terrible expressions of agony on their faces, as he lifted up nearly a score of the armoured women in his supernatural grip.' Therefore, these visions were not of Ranagon's thralls, nor of the Maliri, but of other attackers entirely, perhaps long, long before the advent of Mael'nerak in this quadrant of space. Perhaps they were Achonin or even Enshunu... but they had nothing to do with Ranagon, having occurred long before his appearance in this region. Also worth pointing out is that Mael'nerak was apparently capable of draining the life energies from those who were not his Thralls, although it's fair to say that they didn't enjoy (or survive) the experience. In fact, Alyssa later states: “Mael’nerak might have turned good in the end, but he was an evil bastard in his prime. I saw him suck the life out of a bunch of invading Thralls – they definitely weren’t Maliri as they had yellow skin and bright red hair.” So, the Maliri were with Mael'nerak when he encountered the Thralls of another Progenitor, long before Ranagon appeared. We don't know whether or not that was in this region of space or not, but we do know that it was before Valada's time with Mael'nerak, since, based upon his conversations with her, she had never been exposed to another Progenitor's actions before Ranagon's arrival.

Southwest was probably Kerry, specifically since Tefler compared it to the lake District

Did you find out about all those wonderful Galway Hookers? ;-) If you go back I hope you have a chance to see the Aran Islands. Better fish and chips then anywhere else in the world, including London.

Dunno man, UK is kinda grim right now. Brexit has the country torn apart one way and another, the forecasts for the future look bleak even in the best-case scenarios. Unless you're already independently wealthy with plenty stashed away in tax-havens, in that case you're fine.

by 108n im guessing you mean 107 par 2

He's popped up a few times, he was in ch. 104 at the High Command meeting where Lynette became Fleet Admiral. Admiral Cartwright exchanged a worried look with her. “The logistical difficulties in supplying both the planetary liberation fleet on the Kirrix border and an occupation force in Kintark Space will be ... daunting ... to say the least. We’re talking about a two-front campaign at opposite ends of Terran Space.”

I want to move back to the UK badly.

An interesting perspective. You are indicating that John and all of the other girls are exhibiting what you term masculine traits and that you want Helene to exhibit feminine traits. On the other hand, you state that talks from many of the girls soothe John's spirit, which is true, but you neglect to mention that even more often, it is John who is soothing the spirits of the girls when they become downtrodden or depressed. John himself seems to inspire more than any other in the story, but it is Alyssa, as well as the other girls, who are pushing him to become more than he had been content to be. I agree with and appreciate your characterization of Galadriel, but please do not relegate her to a passive role. It was she, not Gandalf, Saruman nor Elrond, who put together the White Council in the first place. Recall, too, that Galadriel was born in Valinor, and may well have known Olórin (Gandalf) long before the beginning of the First Age, making it obvious why she wanted him to head the Council. Yes, she hid (and protected) her lands and people from Sauron during Second Age in a passive fashion while he had the One Ring, but she was quite active in the Third Age after Sauron lost the Ruling Ring. However, I do take your point. To use a slightly different philosophical perspective, there is a great deal of Yang in John and his crew, but not a balancing amount of Ying. You are proposing that Helene could help provide that balance. An interesting proposal.

Evan

Telfer "If I was planning on writing a fantasy epic, it would have all been very inspiring... maybe in a few years time!" does this mean we have a few more years of the TSM universe? ;)

rich ed

What ever happened to Admiral Cartright, the one that gave John the Raptor? I am not sure but I do not think I have read of him since? Or did he become Cadwell?

rich ed

I'm hoping that Helene can be Tefler's lioness that can most fully incorporates the feminine traits of old. The feminine nature is one that nurtures, that influences and grows within the private sphere (while the masculine usually dominates in the public sphere, we are foolish if we dont think that private doesn't influence the public. We are also foolish to place the public over the private in its importance). Femininity is the push that the masculine needs in order to operate, and it does so with beauty, mystery, and the prospect of life. A character that fully imbues the full feminine is Galadriel from Lord of the Rings. She can look into the eyes of men and see their desires, faults, hopes, and dreams. Her beauty and mystery stop men in their tracks, and with her voice she can influence those who would seek to change the world through their actions. She is the one who nurtures and cares for the weary travelers, yet gives them the tools, hope, and push to keep them going, even after great loss. Western culture has diminished the role of the feminine, and it's to our great peril that we do so (The masculinization of the female in popular culture is one such sign. Not to say that woman can't do what men do. But if we only put the masculine on a pedestal on what is valuable, then we risk losing the feminine). The masculine needs the feminine, and vice versa. The Lionesses are being forged as warriors. I think we need a Lioness who acts like Galadriel. There needs to be a home to come home to. There needs to be someone who can gaze into the eyes of the masculine and see if it becoming corrupt/tyrannical (Tefler already does a great job with this. Talks from many of the girls soothe John's spirit). There needs to be a reason for the fighting, a beauty worth preserving. The constant death around them needs a source of life to cling to, or else they risk becoming monsters themselves. Helene can become this beacon of femininity for the Invictus crew, and through that make the family more complete.

Sounds like a great place to visit. Glad you enjoyed yourself. Thanks for the update.
