I doubt that it’s the gun, simply because of the emotions felt when it was touched. They don’t seem appropriate for a weapon that was on the outside of the vessel... but it could be. I look forward to finding out. :-)

As for the disappointing work done by the ceremony artist, have you contacted them to express said disappointment? I mean, if I was them I would appreciate the chance to correct the commission before you slipped my name to your 3000+ followers. Yeah, you’ll have to spend some more time talking to them, but they shouldn’t charge you another penny.

Tef, if you manage to get lucky enough to have a shortlist of potential replacment artists, the good ol’ voting thing on here could be a good way of de-risking the decison process a little. The listing above has some good stuff in it - I think I would vote Euderion followed by Jack Felix (or maybe a dead heat... ) so far.....

The award ceremony image was a rip off. Copy paste of a pose and then a hue-adjustment for Jade and Sparks. to make them look different. I would not use that guy again. Keep your money in your pocket until you find someone better.

Speaking of cosplayer, i envisage Alyssa as looking like katopunk from Instagram who is a major steampunk cosplayer and designer. The other girls would be a variation on the theme of course. Just my two bobs worth. Great story Tefler, keep it up.

Tefler, why not reach out to some international cosplayer and see if you could arrange an actual model in that way. Many would be glad to fabricate something to fit your vision for the body armor and such. Not sure if the cost would be a savings or not. But 1200 seems steep currently. When you're making millions in royalties that's a different story.

Thanks for the update Tefler. Glad to hear that 102 will be out around the 25th, just in time for my birthday! As for the artists...how much did the guy who did the banner art charge you last time? $1200 seems to be much higher than before. Now if he's doing a lot of work for that $1200, then it might be worth it. Depends on how much he has to do. With regards to the portraits of the girls, how about the artist who did Irillith and Tashana? That was a pretty good piece.

Im currently working on book one of a series of a mythological adventure in ancient ireland and artwork will be a central part of the package. Stuck on whether to take time to draw myself or find an artist. Might be worth the time to learn how to do it myself. I can draw but would need to learn illustration

Hey Tefler, as far as I'm concerned the art has all been fine. Of course it doesn't match up with the images of people and ships your writing has inspired in my mind, I don't think that is a realistic expectation though. Just pick the artists you feel do the best job of bringing the TSM universe to life. I would like to see a fully rendered 3D galactic empire map soon though.

He gets faces right, which is pretty tricky. I think he'd do a great job on the girls.

Hearing the prices you've quoted for the artwork makes me wish I was still doing CGI. His work is decent but $1200 sounds like you're being taken for a ride. Truth is I'm waiting for the story Tefler, as much as I'd like to see the Raptor it can wait until you find a reasonably priced artist

If you can get me a rough 3-view sketch of the Raptor, I can CAD it up and 3D Print it and do some photoshopping of it to give it a background, engine flares and bullet traces. Thanks for the update on 102! I'm looking forward to see how this new influx of characters works out on the Invictus. It must be getting crowded by now! Then again, I suppose Mael'Nerak had several thousand Maliri on the 'Legacy'... But the Invictus is quite a bit smaller than that!

Yeah, that seems steep. He up his prices? I'd shop around. Consistency is good but not if you're being blackmailed. Also, has the artist read your work? They get excited enough they might do it for free!
