His superior strength only involves his muscles, for the most part. His superior speed involves his muscles, his perception, the firing of his nerves and greatly increased neural activity. The two are not even in the same order of magnitude in terms of the costs in energy. He has trained on using his energy more efficiently, and the girls have been training and cautioned to use their energies more efficiently. For example, Rachel, whose power costs an enormous amount of energy, has been particularly cautioned about using too much energy to do too much healing. This has been documented as recently as the latest chapter. Do they need to work on this more? Yes, probably they do. However, I’m sure it will come up, that they also need to work on increasing the pool of power from which they draw, as well as using the power more efficiently and effectively.

Question?? If his supervisor strength is a passive ability why isn't his super speed also a passive ability?? Seems kind of balanced wrong. Since the ice, fire or even his thunder also pulls power. Not only that but just his added strength should add to his speed there should be no way he only just have upper body strength no marine would train that way. Can I get some help or is this just a thing not noticed up until now? Also why does no one work on power control they just go full blast all the time. Then end up drained at the end of battles?

Tefler, two minor items for you, for when you revisit this one to put it into book format. There's a tense change in the middle of the sentence: "Don’t worry about offending me if you decided to turn me down; Rachel will heal you regardless as well as do the health check she mentioned.” You're using the word 'decided' instead of 'decide' and thus going from current tense to past tense and then back to current tense in the same sentence. In the next paragraph, you have: "there doesn’t seem to be any downsides to your offer" and doesn't is singular but downsides is plural, so it should be either "there don't seem to be any downsides to your offer" or "there doesn’t seem to be any downside to your offer" instead.

You kidding? Being a space scavenger/legal wreck hauler is going to be VERY lucrative right now. Too many wrecks for tied to police so I imagine all types are going after the civilian and military wrecks left between dragon march and terra, with tfed focusing on Olympus and Terra debris fields first to streamline recovery efforts.

What is the timeline for chapter 102??

I am excited. It seems to me that a Dana heavy chapter may be coming. I have had my explosion appetite sated. Now, I want lots of tech.

A few thoughts... The scientist have been at the hidden base for a while, you need a reason to comment on the coffee.  Perhaps it is worse now that they are expanding the base?  The supplies are low and they have used up the good stuff; the end of the month is always that way... Using the security system DNA records they can determine who worked there and the dates of their visit.  This can implicate at least one or two other admirals and quite a few special forces. Isn't it Faye doing the translation of the archives?

Great Chapter as always, but these cliffhangers are killing me. I could be confused, but John and Calara talk about sending schematics to Edraele thru secure comms channel. Irillith was able to have John talk to Charles and stop anyone from listening in, so I'm not sure why they would be concerned with High Command getting any information, and not be able to send something secured. In the same conversation John and Calara decide to help Terran forces liberate the worlds from the Kirrix before heading back to Genthalas, but when he talks to Edraele they are discussing him being back in a week. The timing seems off.

I asked a question of Tefler in his post about the notes outline of the Battle . In the notes LK called John "our" whelp having claws to Ailanthia but in story changed it to "the" whelp . Said it flowed better &amp; obviously Ailanthia wasn't his mother &amp; they have been together for 4 thousand years so not his father either . One would think if Jessica was with him , he would allow her to see her son in action , so doubt she is . I think his comments about John &amp; family are more along the lines of the "Royal" we . "Our subjects are our children ", which is silly except in the case of Genghis Khan who pretty much try .

Such a cathartic wrap up to the second battle of Terra. It was great seeing the bad guys get what was coming to them. I predict some more admirals will be clawing their eyes out before Devraux takes over. Seeing Jade reunited with her sisters was the high point of the chapter for me. I bet these 5 Nymphs were also leaders of their own tribes. Probably only the strongest survived to current times. Calara and Edraele are right to be worried, lucky for them BSP isn't looking to exterminate John, but gain an ally against the astral monsters right? Can't wait for the confrontation with John's progen side. I'm sure he'll gain some amazing new powers, maybe a soul forge to construct some tormentors and dominators. Thanks again Tefler. I feel like I read each chapter faster and faster, and then it's right back to withdrawal!

The scene on the bridge of the destroyer, when Weber is asking how Jade is able to change form into something so powerful. Then pieces of the ship start flying off. I would love for Jehanna so say something along the lines of. All of the Loinesess abilities come from John. He is the one who gives them their abilities. John so freak Weber out, the crushing realization that the Tfed would never be able to creat such powers on their own.

I don’t know, each new girl is a new link in their web/chain, and definitely the weakest. Bringing in so many weak links all at once might drain John, as he tries to strengthen all of them at once. Energy that would be critical for the battle, knowing that the monsters will be going at it with everything they’ve got. On the other hand, maybe increasing the number of girls would increase his total energy pool to draw upon? Only Tefler will tell ;)

Tefler, I think this maybe a typo - *Any time,* the brunette replied, reaching out to interlace her fingers with the blonde as John fell into a deep and restful slumber. Are we just finding out that Rachel is a telepath also?

Multiple reasons. One, she was just coming into her telepathy. Two. The Ashana th are the ones that pointed out that there isnt a range and that that is a limitation of her mind’s own making, afterwhich because of John’s unconscious order for her to handle most of the psychic stuff she quickly vanished that ideal and was able to reach near infinite range.

Just a question: It's been mentioned a few times so far that there is no range to telepathy which is why Alyssa can speak to John and the girls wherever they are but this left me wondering why, in the early chapters, Alyssa was only able to hear John's thoughts up to a certain distance?

Tefler described the TF government as a military oligarchy, rule by the Fleet Admiral as chief executive, and the Admiralty as his executive cabinet officers. There is no legislature and the courts and police functions at the federation level are run by the military. Each planetary government has a local administration under the umbrella of the TF government. There is no civilian oversight or authority above that of the High Command. There is no United Nations or other political authority that can challenge them.

If only our ethics officers could read minds, like Alyssa, they could root out corruption literally over night.

Those Admirals who are guilty of high crimes will be let go, no matter their knowledge, skills and experience. The officers promoted to replace those who resign or are fired will bring new skills or learn on the job -- as all the new naval officers and crews will have to do as they rebuild.

There was mention in a recent chapter about a family reunion in regards to John. Does this mean LK is his father? Or did LK find his father on Arcadia and kill him, taking his mother as his own thrall? My curiosity is making cats jealous.

Rachel and John will be enraged to discover that Tartarus is still working with the Rogan's Rot plague as well as other biowarfare.

Tefler raised again the unspoken childhood experience of Alyssa on Karron before she met Sparks. So far, when the Kirrix invasion comes up, no one has mentioned Karron since the TFNN studios were shut down by the High Command. What if the person or persons who abused Alyssa were powerful administrators or owners and they are still on Karron? If the Invictus does liberate the asteroid colony, will that be an opportunity for Alyssa to confront her abusers and achieve a degree of closure with her disturbing past?

I like that Lilyana will be able to salvage Brimorian shield generators from the wreckage of the Kintark fleet prior to proceeding to Trankarran space. John's proposal directs that they take examples of shield generators for capital ships and strike craft, along with design specs, so that the Trankarrans can build and install new shields in Maliri and Trankarran vessels.

John's experience with Jade will allow him to quickly liberate the minds of the four Nymphs to free them from their compulsion to seek and submit to a master. Once their individual personalities emerge and their bodies are strengthened, Jade can lead their training in shape shifting and other skills.

I was touched by the loving solicitude displayed by Sakura toward Jade as she recuperated from her injuries on Tartarus. It was a dimension of her relationship that we had not seen before. I loved it.

Is Lynette, like many in the Admiralty, a xeno-phobe? Is that one reason she is afraid of John? If so, how will she get on with Edraele and the Glowing Queen? How will she react to the challenges posed by the Abandoned? Will she be stiff-necked about the TF receiving tech upgrades below parity with the Maliri and other alliance members? We know less about her than we need to know. Maybe the delux upgrade will appeal to her vanity enough to mollify her angst and keep her on the gravy train, so to speak. I still think it is a bit risky for her to mask her modified appearance from her peers, rather than revealing her physical changes. Discovery of that disguise could have potential negative blow-back and undermine trust in her leadership as Fleet Admiral.

It seems that Jehanna will join the Invictus crew and become a Lioness. Does that mean John's original plan to have her ensconced at TFNN no longer applies? The crew can probably set up production facilities on board that allow her to generate news and video products in which she and John are the editors. With her personality, intelligence, experience and news-savvy, she can become a formidable voice for Hope and change.

How will Dana's design for an assault craft be affected by their acquisition of a Thrall Destroyer? Since the TFed stripped out its original computer and weapons systems, will she be able to infer design and operational specs from her sensitivity to Projenitor tech? Now that they are returning to Maliri space, Dana can apply her unique genius to the goal of closing the tech gap with LK some more.

John and Calara emphasized the potential innovations and upgrades that could be discovered from the Vulkat Archives. We speculated on potential discoveries in previous chapters, but I wonder if Tefler will turn this into an advantage that LK will not anticipate or easily defend against. The organic chemistry, exotic materials/physics, eternity crystal technology and ship-based weapons/mini-missile system open the door for whole new classes of interesting stuff -- maybe even a means to share Pyschic information over time and space. I wonder what it could be that he is hinting at..

This is one of your better chapters, it had a lot of plot development. I wondered if you would have Devereaux pop back up at Tartarus. I like how you are increasingly inserting hints that the BSP might not really be John’s enemy. Hopefully you will have a followup tale that explores progenitor history. How did an all powerful male species evolve with no females? Curious what John will find when he heads into Kirrix space to find Arcadia? Will John find his parents? Will his father be controlling the Kirrix brain class?

Since her introduction, Jade has been my favourite Lioness. As a consequence this is my favourite chapter to date (followed by 100 and 60). I was on the edge of my seat as an angry and protective Jade went on the rampage through that base, eviscerating everything in her path and i couldn't stop fidgeting when she was protecting her sisters from that cannon fire. Wow, you know how to get the adrenaline flowing don't you Tef! What a truly wonderful chapter. Thanks

Does the Terran Federation have no civil oversights? Even with Deveroux back will there be no questions to be answered to the nation states on earth which seem to be funding Terran Federation? Will the nations not be upset by destruction of Citadel they had built as of rogue elements in TF? Or is that earth is ruled bu an autocratic military federation, I feel review would be right time to clear the human politics.

Also the big threat to the den of criminals in the Admiralty (with a few exceptions) really struck a chord with me and in these days when corrupt officials and other political operatives seem to get away with the most heinous crimes, I loved how this went. Also I’m very relieved you un-killed Lynette. I had about given up hope! Whew...

In the reorganisation of the Terran Federation it would be interesting to know how John would handle loss of devious but experienced administrators.Promotion and demotion of some of the charectors will be interesting.

When Weber is dead mind link established with Nymph's must have broken.Shouldn't the lost connection raise some concern as to how they would behave? In the story they just land up in Invictus with all others. I feel there is scope for improvement.From earlier versions of story I understand in the absence of a compatible male Lenarrians/Nymph's are intelligent and coherent.

Wow, what a great chapter!! I loved how the battle on Ganymede worked out, and you bit off a lot with four new nymphs!! Faye needs to get some Lioness loving, I know John doesn’t want to rush it but Faye probably doesn’t appreciate fish girls and rando 52-year old cripples cutting in line. Is that who Alyssa meant? I loved the way they teased John about making them perky when things were looking so bleak. Calara is probably going to figure out that the other Progenitor is toying with them, in my mind she is at least that perceptive.

Irillith has full access to all tied data, she and Faye must find something. 3. Who says Tfed gets Kintark space? Why not let the Malari take over? 4. I loved the priorities discussion, but they seem to be avoiding the possible diplomatic options. Why not call BSP? Surely they could send a message. Some recon would aid their planning

In addition to all the usual bits to be curious about happening next, the thing I'm most looking forward to finding out is what kind of upgrades the new girls are going to get. I'm also curious about what effect John will have on Faye when they finally do the deed - will she be upgraded and if so, how? I suspect you've been drawing the relationship out at least partially so you could figure that out, but ... food for thought. Many great thanks for all your work on this story and inspiring me to work on a few of my own. I salute you.

Question for the community regarding the AI Tormentor class destroyer. As stated in the story, the original Ganymede AI built the ship based on. Thrall design. Obviously the AI had to use the Terran material on hand. However the ship had Gauss cannons. Did the AI use Gauss cannons because that’s all it had, or did the Tfed get the Gauss cannons design from the AI ship. It doesn’t look like they have improved the design in 200 years. Also this would be the first evidence of thralls using ordenece based weapons. If the Gauss cannon is a thrall design why did Danna not recognize the design,

Regarding Devereux: I believe Buckingham said she was "shot", heavily implying that Devereux was dead. He wanted to wheel her out for the show trial once the Kintark were dealt with and didn't want to deal with her allies moaning about her capture until then. Charles was duped by his ruse, and therefore informed John that she was dead. Truthfully, she really was like Shrodinger's cat. I had two ways I could go with her storyline, and ultimately decided that it would be more interesting if she was left alive. I intentionally left her plight vague while I made up my mind... ;-)

Thanks for another great chapter Tefler! I've only got one nagging question that's been bugging me since about chapter 2... I've read a lot of space opera and I'm a total NASA &amp; astronomy nerd. Space is huge. How the heck are ships in your universe getting to Jupiter in 10 minutes when it takes light between 30-60 minutes depending on orbital alignments? FTL in a solar system's gravity well is deadly isn't it? I've been ignoring how "small" your universe feels for artistic purposes and am having great fun. But I am curious if you've thought this out in detail, or if it's just essentially "magic, don't sweat the details" territory?

That is an interesting idea. I was wondering what exactly that was they found, as it could be anything, even just a big chunk of armor. And it doesn't necessarily have to have come from Mael's ship either. If that is Mael's life pod, as you think, is Mael still inside it? If not, was he ever in it? If he is, then that would rule him out as John's father, since it would be rather hard to be locked in a life pod drifting in space and father a child while on a planet several thousand light-years away, wouldn't it?

Maybe I should go back and start all over again, and by the time I catch up, maybe there will be a chapter or two out that I have not read. Please keep up the great work. I also think there might have been some kind of clairvoyant meaning behind his Matriarch's so called lie about the possible living happily ever after because the other will bow to defeat and leave them alone.
