At this point, BSP is an enigma. He is working towards pitting the races in this part of the Galaxy against each other, but to what end? He is telling everyone that John Blake is 'hands off' and does not attack John himself, but to what purpose? He is beginning to show a different side of himself to his Matriarch, after eons of being with her...something that makes you go hmmmmmmmm. We do know that BSP is planning something for this part of the Galaxy...but what we do not yet know. We do know it includes weakening the races. But his end game is still a bit of a mystery. Conquest seems the most probable...but why would he not attack John if that were the case? Is he John's father? Is he John's brother? Twin? Mael brought back from near death? Mael's foe whom Mael was unable to kill and who took 10,000 years to recover? Another Progen sent by their master or the 'collective of brothers' sent to figure out what happened?

The Admiralty do reinforce the border, but not nearly to the level needed, and the Maliri fleet stationed at Ashanah rushes to their defense, along with the Invictus. They arive just as the Terran fleet is about to be attacked and flank the Kintark. The Emporer himself is on board the Kintark flagship and John tries to avoid a bloodbath by challenging him to a fight, winner take all. The fight is broadcast to both fleets as John meets the Draconic Emporer. John doesn't even play with him....killing him decisively...and negotiations begin to end the war.

Let's also not forget, when John handed over the schematics for the new tech (for the power cores) that Dana had included a failsafe shutdown sequence to keep the Terran Admiralty/fleets in line. The first time that is used, can you imagine the chaos and realization following? The Admirals will be caught red handed in their expansionist schemes and, realizing their mistake, will shout betrayal while the fleet will be as happy as pigs in slop that they don't have to commit themselves to a suicide mission to go after John and the Invictus with Maliri backing. Speaking of Maliri backing: Can you imagine the pucker factor that is going to exponentially explode when the Terran Admiralty realizes there is a full Maliri battle group traveling at extreme hyperwarp speeds towards the Terran border? This is the perfect time for the Maliri/John relationship to be fully revealed to the Admiralty...to help them realize their 'place'. The Admiralty scramble to put assets on the border only to have the Invictus show up and difuse the situation; actually actively trading with the Maliri and being invited to board their flagship the 'Galena Serene'. I can see the higher ranking Terran officials being invited on board the Galena Serene, after John has had extensive 'discussions' with Edraele and the Matriarchs :-) , to help asuage the Terran fears and I am thinking Calara's father and brother would be on one of the Terran ships since they are supposed to be in the vacinity (Kirrix border) anyway and them being invited to the confab as a way to help ensure all is copacetic. The Terran Ship Commanders witness the extreme deference to John paid by the Maliri Regency and, when reported back to the Admiralty, the Admirals realize he truly is untouchable. The Maliri fleet gets permission to fly to Ashanah, with an escort, while the Galena Serene and a few Maliri escorts fly Edraele and the now pregnant Matriarchs back to Genthalis. Oh! and in the process of the confab, Edraele mentions, “Oh, by the way! Terra may be curious to know that the Kintark are actively upgrading ALL their fleet assets at a furious pace. You may want to reinforce your border with them to ensure you are not caught off guard AGAIN with a fight against an even more formidable foe!” LMAO And the Admirals sit down in the Conference Room of the 'Retribution of Zues' and collectively expell an 'oh! FUCK!'

Since she has never met a T-Rex, and she is only mimicking them anyway, I don't see why not. I vote for "Classic Dragon".

I do think it is a possibility that the apparitions are progenitors, but they simply have mastered their use of psychic power in the astral plane. It is however a small one considering their ambush on John preventing him from bringing Rachel's mom back, what they said specifically.

PRL: I also think you are on to something there. Been thinking that for a while, on both counts. The problem with the timeline of BSP's Matriarch being with him for eons can be explained away by the space/time warps in that final battlefield where Mael overloaded his Worm-Hole generator. Perhaps the brother was looking for pieces of Progen ships to salvage for an initial ship and was sucked into a time vortex?

Also... it could be that, quite literally, BSP is John's actual brother. Considering the dearth of Males in the Progenitor populace, when a Progenitor decides to sire a son, that all males of Progenitors are Twins. BSP would be the "Evil Twin" in this case... it also aligns with the prevalence of twins in Edreale's lineage.

So... I've been skimming the comments and had a thought. What if the Astral Behemoths *ARE* Progenitors? Assuming that John's genetic legacy allows him to get stronger and stronger over his infinite lifetime, what is the end result? What happens when Evil Bastards gain so much power that their organic bodies cannot contain them anymore? Is there a transition point where only the Astral plain can hold them? Or is it a choice to gain more power? Or is it like the Phantom Zone where Mael vanished his brothers and without a body, the morph into representations of their malice? Hmmm...

Hey since Jade is getting more powerful and was able to turn into a Trex, I wonder if she would soon be able to turn into mythical creatures and/or Kintark dragon? A Griffin would be cool, would fit with the lion of the federation scheme.

Just thinking about Faye and Alyssa and their lack of a psychic bond making it difficult for Alyssa to "matriarch" Faye. I'm not sure how good an idea it is for Alyssa to try reading Fayes mind given how much computing power Faye has, but what if they took a decent size Etherite crystal and set it up with a load of sensors on it so Faye could sense any changes in the crystal caused by Alyssa and learn to interpret them. Potentially, it might be possible to make a "psychic reciever" for Alyssa to send pychic messages to Faye. Making a "transmitter" might be more difficult, but that's following the same pattern as all the other girls anyway

I would normally agree with you. Except Tefler said he'd knock another out, which leads me to believe he's already knocked out an outline of the scenes he wants to write and just needs to put the pen to paper. In the past, he's written 8k a day, so with a 5k a day average, I can see him finishing by the end of the day on the 30th.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer - given that Tefler has 11K done and is "Not Available" until Saturday my algorithm projects 9/3 or 9/4. In the past when Tefler has taken time off and the fact that he is only on 11K right now and when he comes back I doubt he is going to jump right in so he will be "off" until Monday. it will take him until Friday to get 20K words done unless he has a manic moment. I am seeing some intense scenes that historically provides for a 3-5K word days and then 1-2 days for him to read over and edit before the release. Tefler has had a couple of double pay months and has a cushion and can take take his time and deliver something great without making himself crazy and September will be a 3 chapter month. Removing my Carnac the Magnificent Chapeau and heading back behind the gold curtain.

If they were wearing shoes (as is inferred in the next paragraph), it would be nearly impossible to determine how many toes were in the shoe, especially since Jade didn't seem to know what a shoe actually was at that time.

Actually, I believe that stuff he couldn't lift in the cargo hold was made of Crystal Alyssium, so it did have the Etherite crystals in it. Why he couldn't lift the stuff, we're not sure, considering he had just been using telekinesis to carry a block of the metal behind him without even realizing he had done it. I'm fairly certain there is some sort of significance to that fact.

Just realized something during a reread. John used telekinesis before his duel with Yamamoto on the Odachi and you mention it not having etherite in it. The before the mech refit he couldn't lift the stuff that didn't have the crystals in it.

Odd thought of the day: The Astral Behemoth was completely immune to conventional weapons; perhaps John and Alyssa needs to take a little trip to slay it then bring it back to tan and use the hide for armor. I'd say it's because Athena was a psychic being created in the physical world. The creature is the product of an entirely different realm. I think the better question would be how the creature was able to pull John and the girls into the Astral Plain so thoroughly they suffered bodily damage in the physical world.

I really enjoyed the first half of Chapter 87. I support you because your a very imaginative writer with a great story. Keep up the good work and I'll keep reading.

Does she remember anything from the time before Mael set them free? Does she have any new insights on why she has an aversion to guns? Any thoughts on imprinting on Males? Calara, Rachel or Alyssa should be able to cajole some of this information out of her, if she can recall it.

Hey Tefler, that was another excellent chapter! The plot progression was great. So the astral monsters are the guardians of the progenitor's psychic powers? I wonder if they don't want to give him access because he's a half breed? It would very interesting to see what the other progenitors' relationships are with the astral plane, and if the monsters are benign as long as the natural order isn't disrupted like trying to bring the dead back to life. I thought for sure John was going to need to ask his guide for help at the lake there. It's pretty obvious the Kintark upgraded their elite forces with the Brimorian tech and that's why only they are on the border. I'd like to get some background on Kintark motivations if they suddenly do decide to attack the Maliri. I couldn't be happier with direction Jade's story line is going. Her flashback was incredibly tragic. Let the search for her sisters quickly bear some ripe green fruit. Keep up the great work, and oh yeah, I think Irillith is on the left. Her expression is a bit more aggressive in my opinion.

Two things. First, Jade is a bioelectrical, polymorphic artificial life form utilizing a crystalline matrix core energizing (or at least acting as a governor for) an amorphous, non differentiated mass energy that constitutes her body. (Please note, I am not sure if the memories are associated with the crystalline matrix core or the mass energy of the body, or both.) So, so long as her sister Nymphs have not had their hearts irreparably broken (oh the fun that should give Tefler while writing about that), John should be able to bring back any dormant Nymphs that might be found. Yes, I know that she has been checked and her skin has had DNA found in it. However, I think that that DNA is artificial and reflects her current form. She has not been checked for what her DNA is while she has been in other forms. Rachel has never looked to see what her true 'building blocks' are because she assumed that Jade was simply an enhanced natural life form. She will learn to dig deeper... into all life... Second, does anyone else think that Faye would look wonderful with her own crystalline heart using the same or similar technology? Mind you, this would make everything that Dana has created so far look like the toys of a child playing with blocks in comparison. This is starting to get into the true Progenitor creation capabilities. Or, as Rachel was wondering about some time ago, how did Mael'nerak create life?

Remove the k from your mark? Perhaps add a c, m or n? He is less than 50 Terran years of age, and less than one as a Progenitor. How much do you expect him to know after his first hundred years, his first thousand, his first million, his first billion… How powerful might other Progenitors be? We still have no idea if they're even native to this space time continuum, and we do have anecdotal indications that they might not be, both from their paucity and power, including their wormhole technology, and from their Astral plane interactions.

If a full-fledged progenitor has the power to create Gaia class worlds how is it done - terraforming with machinery, psychic abilities or a combination? Does he have the power to move planetoids into the goldilock zone and add water? So where is John currently on the progenitor learning curve scale? Is he still at the 1 km mark while running a marathon?

Okay: those of us who have been speculating that the Progens are servants of the Astral Plane Leviathan just got a couple of strong indicators that we are right. First: The Laviathan has the same type of connection to John as John has with his Matriarchs and Thralls...specifically, it was able to pull energy directly from John and his Matriarchs. Second: When John cut off his power source the Leviathan was unable to maintain the breach itself. And a Disturbing 3rd: Why is John able to breach the two realms and this styggian Leviathan unable to do so? Even after John did it the first time? Tefler says it had to wait in ambush for another breach/gateway to open up...interesting...very very interesting. Number 3 seems to suggest that those of us who feel John is growing beyond his genetic programming and his girls are outside of the box in their abilities are barking up the right tree. Hmmmmmm.

A few thoughts: 1) I can imagine Jade as a matriarch of a nymph planet, similar to Ed. 2) how can John stay with his kids and fight monsters? He can hunt the beasts on the Astral plane. 3) if no vacation, what about faye's body? He should also notify his reporter 4) Rachel needs a sample of the ooze to figure out how to protect John. 5) John should resupply his ship soon. Can you imagine his grocery list for terran food? He has a lot of mouths to feed.

Another Great chapter Tef! I do find it weird that they leave New Eden without talking to Henry Voss. I mean they did just fire at something on his property. In addition, I'm sure he would have a full surveillance package and may have even SEEN what was trying to enter his home. Surely he would have been a bit anxious to make sure Rachel was alright. I was hoping Dana would grab a fork or knife and change the molecular structure to Crystal Alysium and stab that fucking beastie. They really need some discrete away gear. Clothes made out of the compression weave, like Tashana had in the wastes. Maybe a little modded Dillinger or concealed carry style pistol. Getting caught unarmed too many times now. Crystal Alysium heels perhaps? I've seen some girls do some horrific damage with heels.

She's a different race. As it's mentioned later in that scene, Ailanthia receives regular feedings to maintain her youthful appearance, something Nymphs don't require considering they spent thousands of years alone on Lenarra with no Progenitor feeding them.

Loved the chapter! Sounds like Edraele, with all of her experience in interstellar intrigue, may have deduced that something else is going on with the Kintark, like the shield refit of all of their starships, which we all know is coming.

I recall Alyssa mentioning the images of the girls in her mind had changed and that she'd have to tell John at their next XO catch up, well ....... Of course another splendid chapter, things from the Astral plane, snowmen, blue on blue sexiness. what's not to like?

Just wanted to note that the discussion in this chapter about the nymphs reminded me of something from chapter 79. Just after the end of the battle to save Ashana, there is brief scene with the other Progenitor and his matriarch, Ailanthia. The line that I thought of was this: Her heart skipped a beat at the prospect, a smile lighting up her beautiful light-green face. So she could be a Nymph with lighter skin or she could be a different green race.

A great chapter, the using-astral-imprints-to-make-a-facsimile scenes never fails to tug at the heartstrings! I normally pay less attention to the erotica compared to the storyline but this chapter had some really nice character building elements to those scenes which was a pleasant surprise!

Just finished reading this chapter and it is very nice. That entity from the Astral Plain is going to be a pain and I guess John and the girls hasn't seen the last of it.

Very nice. Bit of tension in the middle to keep things interesting, followed by a nice round of levity. I wonder, what did Faye do with the assassin after her talk with John? Pick him up and dump him out an airlock or plug into his system and quietly shut him down?

I've had that problem from the app also. I have noticed, that it won't let me download from the initial notification page, or after clicking the header. However, I can download the file from the main page listing. Where *all* the followed author posts are listed. (Hope that makes sense)

Another amazing chapter! Thank you so much, Tefler. I did find two minor typos that I haven't seen mentioned yet. In the first scene with Edraele, Leena says, "We really miss you not coming to bed with us.” I think the word not should be removed. Second one is at the start of John's time in bed with Rachel. You have the word ta=king in a sentence.

"their familyies" little typo. "ready our visit to New Eden" ready for our visit. "luxurious skill chalets" should be ski. "rolling around on the floor with laughter" hehe...one of my pet peeves here. They're outside, so it should be ground or snow, not floor. ;) "Floor" outside drives my OCD crazy every time.
