Three Square Meals Ch. 182 (Placeholder)

Hey everyone,

Just one placeholder this month to pay the mortgage.

I had some more follow up appointments at the hospital, then another cancelled surgery. I received a letter in the post a couple of days ago scheduling me for a meeting with the surgeon in January, so I'm not holding out much hope for this being resolved before Christmas.

As I haven't got anything scheduled for November, I'm hoping I can deliver more chapters to you this month.

Best wishes

Tefler.

Comments

That’s awesome! Everyone needs to do this! Tefler having the ability to charge for two chapters after delivering 1/3 of a chapter wipes out any motivation to write more. As people get pissed off and leave he’s likely to start doing three pre-charges a month to make up for lost income. This puts a stop to that racket.

AzureReader

To limit the number of times you can be charged per month before the end of the year to take care of that pesky second placeholder. Go to Membership -> Edit -> Payment Amount -> Set Monthly Limit and enter "1".

Tom Ray

-- chapter #172, part 2 showed up about an hour later, .... #172 is still only 75% to 80% completed, ... then he drops 2 more placeholders, .... Happy EOM everyone, ... ;-l ttfn

Michael56Smith

Nickolas, i use the paid ReadEra Premium app on Android to read eBooks. It will also directly load these DOCX chapters to read. On my Linux desktop I have several options to view and edit DOCX files. Most of the time on Linux I open eBooks in the free ebook-viewer which also will directly load DOCX files. If you are using an Apple or Windows device / system, I am sure others here have experience with those. HTH

Unix Beard

Alright, I think I might know what has happened, ... Poor fatigued Tef was hard at work on the series, when he fell sound asleep (I bet he snores), and he missed his deadline, ... -- Later we will likely get an error prone draft when he finally does awaken, ... So, rest well gentle author, see you soon, .... ;-) ;-( ttfn

Michael56Smith

Well Evan, it is true that he is not time/date constrained for any newer (#172 thru #182) chapters he can catch up with them at any time, ... it is only the newer placeholders (should he need some spending money) that he needs to get in tonight, .... so perhaps this means this is a no placeholder month, .... -- I still want #172, part 2 tonight though, .... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

Michael, Tefler is under a lot of pressure, having charged for over 10 chapters in advance without yet delivering on them, yet stating for some time that multiple chapters per month would hopefully be delivered so that catching up can take place, without yet doing so. Honestly, as we head into the holiday season, I wouldn't be surprised if Tefler goes dark on us again and we don't hear anything for an extended period of time. It's not a good place to be, but it is what it is. I hope that I'm greatly mistaken and that we get multiple chapter drops, of course, but I wouldn't say that I'm expecting that to happen. On the other hand, we may be very pleasantly surprised, which wouldn't be a bad thing at all, now would it?

Evan

Okay, I am getting worried, ... it is after 8 pm (PST) and 9 to 9:30 is the latest time Tef usually drops his chapters, ... Hope we do not get disappointed, ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

I'm going to guess that this has been a frustrating month for Tefler. Changing rules at Literotica. A new puppy who is not doing especially well at eating the homework.... although it shows promise. Half a chapter was lost, but then mostly recovered, requiring a rewrite with an attendant lack of productivity and enthusiasm. Another 2-3 delays in surgery plans for reasons weak and varied. Thanks NHS! And a visit by the Mother in Law, completely changing the house dynamics and any authors ability to focus on smutty progenitors and their next troops. So, with a last gasp and sincere promises of chapters finished in the next 4 days.... 2 placeholders for you and 2 for you and even 2 for you.!

Str8NotNarrow

UK is 5 hours ahead of us in Ontario. Last time Tef dropped a place hplder on the first of the month, it was around around mid-day his time, if I recall correctly. So by the time I am up and have breakfast tomorrow, perhaps there will be something more interesting to read than the Sunday papers. The suspense adds to the enjoyment of eventually reading the next piece or pieces!

Jonathan Fowler

Mike you truly are an annoying human being, your every excuse grates on my nerves

Pat Mcglynn

I'd look for something to drop in the next 5 to 6 hours, (by about 9 PST), ... perhaps a little earlier, .... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

Damn, it's getting late - not another six months of silence, please!

Puttanegra Ficondo

11/30/2024, ... only a few hours remain, ... so soon, quite soon, .... I can scarcely wait, .... more TSM words to enjoy are coming, .... yay! ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

--- I see that you are in the habit of writing what you want and saying that Tef wrote it, ...that's telling fibs Grandizer, ... and that's not very nice at all, .... you shouldn't pretend that Tef is a Lair, .... when he is very carefully telling his fans only the straight facts, ... -- wake up Grandizer and you might wish to reread Tef's own words, ... and not your made-up nonsense, ... Remember, your own wishful thinking does not make it reality, ... -- Oh well, some folks are a lost cause, but at least there are wonderful stories for you to read, .... enjoy! ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

Yes I would wait a year to buy the next Harry turtle dove book, read it in a day or so, then repeat. It was around 30 dollars a book.

Johnkr

Ahh and as usual, your nose is so far up Teflers ass, you should take the time and fix his medical problem while you are there. Please tell me what I made up? In his own words did he not say he would finish this chapter in a week or so? In his own words did he not say he would have time to "catch up" on the chapters he owes us? How long has it been that he has NOT charged us a prepay? So please tell me where did I make up any points to complain about? You can't, you just need to be Teflers ass... Sorry mouth, and defend him when he could very well be on here doing that himself instead of the End of the Month disappointment we see, and more money out of pocket to pay for something else he needs to be paid for. In another recent post, I had made a comment that if he had kept up with his writing then people would not be leaving, would not be reducing their tier to the lowest and hence be making far more money per month. Hell he could have said, hey, I am taking a 3 month hiatus, and I understand if people want to leave and will come back when I return to writing, but nope, we get NO WORDS until it is time to pay for the partial chapter for the month, the completion of the chapter we have been waiting for, and would not surprise me that we get another complete the previous chapter and give us a fragment of the next. Hell we know he could be on here anytime other then the end of the month with the reason why he has not given us the completion of the chapter, I mean we all paid for his light bill last time did we not?

Grandizer

-- I'm hanging in there John, .... Yay! EOM is here, .... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

--- Ahhh, ... the Grandizer does make up his own points to complain about, .... not cool, .... and in regard to Tef's monthly 'habit' of EOM drops, he has to set up any new 'placeholders' before the month is completed, to get paid this month, ... so this also incurs some communication, and that's pretty good, right? ... -- Personally, I look at Tef's placeholders as promises to write more TSM chapters, and to not abandon the TSM series, and I know that's good, ... -- So, happy EOM to all, and a Happy Holidays too, ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

Well it is the monthly Tefler let down day, take bets on why he could not deliver the final part of the chapter, and did not make up or catch up any of the chapters that were paid for? How many pre pays will he charge this time? I am betting we are going to shoot for 12 months of pre paid for and not delivered. Part 1 a month ago with yet another promise it would be finished with in a week or so and then more chapters since he has time to catch up... And nothing.

Grandizer

Yes. This could be Nobel-worthy...

Florida Reader

Michael56Smith

1 more day. Hang in there, boys and girls.

John the 5th

Lets round out to 7500 x 10=75,000 for nothing

Well the first step is to enlist appropriate peer review and a rigorous scientific method. Perhaps a Ph style of meter, ranging from 0 assholes for maximum optimism to 14 assholes for maximum pessimism. The commentariat will vote Olympic-style (losing highest and lowest individual scores and averaging the rest). Every comment thus receives a moderated score from the peer-group, and total monthly averages can be interpreted using an algorithm which calculates the comments' entropy expressed as a mathematical measure of how ordered or predictable it is within the zeitgeist of our special little community and the astonishing fluidity of identities therein. Or something...

Perry Carruthers

Does anyone know why Tefler stopped posting on the free websites? Seems even with the issues posting as is content should be simple.

Patrick Raimer

Nicely stated. My main point is that I noticed my typical optimism can be grating to those who are deeply disappointed. I wanted to create a scientific phenomenon to explain it. Hence, the "Response Frustration Syndrome" and its subtypes: Pessimistic Response Frustration Syndrome (PRFS) and Optimistic Response Frustration Syndrome (ORFS). I realized that responding optimistically to others' frustration can seem dismissive and asshole-like, which perfectly aligns with pronouncing O-R-F-S (orifice). Based on my extensive research over many years in the community comments, I have validated this phenomenon and felt ready to post it for critical scientific review.

Florida Reader

@Florida Reader I can see why you might be alarmed to prefer the appellation 'orifice', but I commend your wordplay nevertheless. I regard the community banter on this forum as an entertaining adjunct to Tefler's wonderful universe, and a helpful distraction while we await the next chapter. The commentary ocassionally ascends to extraordinary heights, and you and EvileBob are two of the greatest exponents (fan-favourites, to be sure). Of course, I get greedy too, and my impatience flares occasionally as my self-restraint wanes. I teeter excruciatingly on the fulcrum of Tef's decisions. Will he or won't he; How often and how much? In my calmer moments, I feel a little guilty adding pressure to a creative soul for whose prodigious imagination I have awe, respect and gratitude. Then I relapse and want naughty things to be done to his muse to get her in the mood. Ah well, I'll keep trying to be a better man (but no promises).

Perry Carruthers

I hear you ;oud and clear, and share the same experiences. A little wait, and some patience enhances the enjoyment of the eventual arrival of the next episode, chapter or whatever. I too wait for the nexxt session.

Jonathan Fowler

Before the age of immediate gratification, we were conditioned to enjoy the anticipation of things to come. Television shows provided weekly episodes, which catalysed entertaining debate around the water cooler as fan theories, hopes and laments were aired. When I was younger (so much younger than today), I would read to my children at their bedtime - one chapter per night. For what seemed the longest time, but was a mere blink of the eye, our entire household connected in a ritual that bonded, entertained, educated and attracted simultaneously. Perhaps I should be thanking Tef for restoring to me those bittersweet feelings of yore, as I eagerly await the next episode of his opus.

Perry Carruthers

TIt’s the Holidays 🤦🏽 apparently Tefler and the rest of you boneheads didn’t take that into consideration. I was to busy to check til now and I barely have a social calendar.

Dean Lee

.... awww shucks! ...;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

@Michael56Smith I am not sure you could have written a more perfect response to my post, Michael. I think that even @EvileBob would agree that no reply could be more perfect than the one you have offered.

Florida Reader

-- Hey there Big Dude, I saw what Tef wrote, that he'd work on the rest of the chapter, ... no mention of posting it to his hungry fans early, ... he made no empty promises, he wrote no lies, ... he just wrote that he'd work on it, .... and that he had no planned doctor visits for this month, so less interruptions, ... -- Please do not assume he said what you wished for, .... it is just not so, .... sorry, ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

-- I am so happy for you that you lean towards the optimistic side of things, .... -- And it has been my observation that Tef is Not frustrating us fans on purpose, ... he is just an End-of the-Month chapter dropper, ... and has been since he started posting on Patreon, .... -- Thanks for being one of the more Mature thinkers, .... yay! ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

RFS and related Syndromes At this point, I find myself suffering from Response Frustration Syndrome, vacillating between two related subtypes -- PRFS (Pessimistic Response Frustration Syndrome) and ORFS (Optimistic Response Frustration Syndrome). Of the subtypes, I generally fall into ORFS -- which now alarms me. As you may realize, the pessimistic variety of RFS—PRFS—is pronounced "pyrrhifice" in reference to its affinity with pyrrhic phenomena. However, the optimistic variety is pronounced "orifice." In looking at the storied history of these syndromes, I discovered that, generally speaking, persons suffering from ORFS are considered complete assholes -- hence the pronunciation of the syndrome. This, of course, shocked me to my core. I had come to believe generally that the whiners and complainers were typically the assholes. In fact, as PRFS indicates, they are foolish mortals who rage against what will inevitably occur -- Tefler's failure to deliver -- with their expenditure of energy akin to battling for a pyrrhic victory. It is all for naught. We optimists, however, try to look on the bright side -- and our optimistic endeavors only end up being sucked into a black hole of broken dreams -- an orifice, if you will. No wonder we end up looking like the assholes. It is fascinating how science has already studied and categorized the phenomena affecting this community of TSM fans. Who knew we were so predictable?? Science for the win, I guess.

Florida Reader

Then don't tell us how he will deliver the balance of a chapter in a few days. We who hope for his best health view these empty statements each month and despise the lies. It is sad he won't mention anything about his health and well-being during the month so we can encourage him on this gall bladder "adventure".

Big Dude

..... so, now we know, .... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

Yeah, good ole End-of-the-Month Tef, ... it is just the way he does things, .... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

As expected

Robster

Ah sorry didn't know, don't really read comments to much. I just like the stories.

John Smith

yep, a four year old gallbladder "tale" of discovery...i guess it can be called that...just read the comments from the last 15 months of chapters, and if you want to get an idea as to what's really been going on that will tell the tale, nothing else need be said!...

Greg Hill

So much for delivering more chapters this month.

John Brewer

I’m on iOS and I export the doc file to pages and read it in Presenter mode. Black background with large font is easier to read for me.

EroticPoetic

Tefler-Speak for "Next few days", or "Later this week", or "As soon as I can" all mean the end of the month...

Hendrix Morton

What character of "NOPE" needs extra explanation ?

Robster

See you in a week or 2 ......

Robster

Over/under on Chapter 172 Part 2?

Big Dude

Stay well. I have too many surgical procedures recently takes more time to get over each one you have.

Deryck Stevenson

Nice.

Florida Reader

-- yeah, what he said, ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

I've been a fan of your series for years before discovering you've moved to patreon. I'm looking forward to how this develops, wish you the best.

Sky

Mr. Tefler, will you break tradition and deliver the rest of 172 this week?

Big Dude

I think your favorite theory is right, Tldr. I don't think that distress beacons are a separate piece of equipment, I think that ships just use their comms to broadcast a wide signal with a message that is some iteration of "We need help." Therefore, they likely just used the comms network on the dreadnought to broadcast that message. As Tldr said, this coming Progenitor will likely be very surprised and suspicious when he sees a distress message coming from a seemingly abandoned dreadnought with obvious battle damage. From what we've seen, he seems to be very intelligent and cautious, but hopefully he's arrogant enough to think he can safely investigate.

Andrew Shultes

Option 1: A distress beacon might be standard in all ships. Thrall warships are disposable, but the thralls themselves might be worth recovering and distress beacons would make that process easier. If all other progenitor ships have a distress beacon, why not the dreadnought? Option 2: The dreadnought might have a distress beacon because the ship and the crew ARE worth recovering. If there was sufficient damage to the sensors and/or comms, the ship might not be able to communicate it’s location to a rescue party. I think there are a bunch of problems with this theory as enemies would probably respond faster than allies. My favorite theory is that there is no 'official' progenitor distress signal and that it's just broadcasting a simple distress message. This should really confuse the new guy, and he'll obviously expect a trap. But he has to investigate, and the fastest way to figure out what's going on is to intentionally spring the trap he suspects. After all, he's safe in his cloaked, shielded, and nearly indestructible ship.

Tldr

I thought "who would rescue them?" I can only assume the Thralls, because it would just be a "come and kill me" offer to another Progenitor. You are right, it seems very out of character for a bunch of egotistical narcissists, to ask for help.

ThunderBird Two

Question: With the attitude that the progenitors all seem to have (I am your God, I am awesome, I am infailable), why would a dreadnought have a destress beacon? Just seems very out of place to me...

Hendrix Morton

Yes. look on the main site and it might be behind a pay wall.

2ndAndrocentric

Agreed, in fact I thought there was some sort of requirement that Patreon was not too far ahead of the free stuff. I think Tefler would benefit from "chumming" the waters.

2ndAndrocentric

Poor Tef and his family have had health issues for most of the past year or two, .... Tef was diagnosed with Gallbladder problems many months ago, but the Healthcare System in the UK has yet to take care of him, that's mostly it, .... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

I use NaturalReader on iOS. You can use it to read the chapter or have it read it to you. It is free to use.

Jeff

Thank you Doctor Gky for that helpful diagnoses

Kevin Murray

There are plenty of free word doc readers on android and apple including one from microsoft.

Montyp2000

Stupid question, I'm just getting into this series I'm on 118 I came over from a free web page. What's the best way to read these new chapters? Every time I try downloading them they won't let me read them on my phone

Nickolas Archdekin

I dont know what is going on, I found TSM awhile back on literotica then my computer took a dump and life caught up and I forgot about the story. I recently found it again, and joined patreon for more of the story, is Tefler on hiatus or something? I'm trying to figure some things out

John Smith

Since no one else has stepped up to clue you in to Tef's lack of book progress. I'll try, ... -- The books, both paperback and the E-books have not increased for many years, ,,, I hear that Tef plans to get around to prepping more chapters for new books later, and that's likely to be after TSM is completed, ... maybe he'll do that before he starts the sequel series, ... maybe, ... that would be nice, ... I'll buy them, ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

-- Regarding the 'FREE' chapters available on SOL and on Literotica: -- Hey Tef, last year there were only two TSM chapters dropped (in April of 2023), and the year before that, in 2022, there were only 6 new chapters, ... -- I had assumed that, like many other authors that started on the free sites, ... that you would continue to supply 'older' chapters to sites like Literoctica and SOL, with a Patreon chapter lead of 6 to 10 chapters, ... maybe a few more, .... Did you give up on the free sites? -- And I have noticed that the numbers for TSM's followers in those 'Free' sites have recently been creeping upwards, it might be nice to finally spring a few 'new' chapters on our non-paying brother-fans, ... the last chapter was #145, ... almost 26 chapters ago, ... that's a large gap, ,,, please try and do something soon, thank you ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

I didn't even realize you had paperbacks for sale on Amazon, just bought the first 2 books. Are books 3 and 4 going to be on paperback also?

John Smith

Is there any artwork for this story?

John Smith

I wish you best Tef! Also, Please note that even the most costliest surgeries in the UK will cost USD 20-25,000 in the bestest Indian hospitals - including the cost of everything. If intrested- please visit some of the hospitals website: Narayanahealth.org I got my son’s All heart surgeries over there and we didn’t had any insurance for him as it was pre birth issue. For all 3 surgeries - it cost me only USD 60,000. In USA when I had enquired- just for one surgery estimate was USD 800,000 at Pensilvania Child hospital. Wish you best and speedy recovery, Man!

Sushant Bhartiya

Hurry up and come over while illegals still get free healthcare! 😜

EroticPoetic

😅😂🤣😜

EroticPoetic

My daughter is waiting for the same surgery and has been fucked around for nearly two years now but we have some hope she will get the surgery soon as she’s been to see the anaesthetist so fingers crossed it will be very soon. So I know what shit tefler is going through with the shitty nhs but my daughter has spells where she is in agony screaming but they are short lived and she’s back to normal I’d say she goes through these spells once every couple of weeks. Now I don’t know if that’s the norm or she’s just lucky but it wouldn’t stop her writing that much so please tell me if she’s lucky or that’s the norm ?.

Jim lynch

I save aggressive aggressive comments for things that matter.

Green Seadragon

Such nice passive aggressive comments from the support tefler at any cost and any reason even if I know it’s wrong.

Jim lynch

He's not sick. It's bullshit. He's a thief.

Gky

I found if you pay cash you can get some great deals. We have 25 dollar x-Ray facilities, and before that I got an X-ray of my knee. My deductible is so high, that it would have cost 1200 dollars out of pocket. Cash price 207 dollars and 51.22 to have it interpreted. The technician said they are going to try to charge you 250 to read, tell them it is more than 51.22.

Johnkr

Pesonality 😀

Green Seadragon

Contrary to popular opinion, many EU countries do NOT have a socialized healthcare system. Germany for one and those systems are on a par and at times superior to the US of A. When you take more than about 20-30% of those who ACTUALLY get something done, they begin to turn their capacity to gaming the system. Your so called right to health care leads to trying to enslave me, the physician. So I quit much earlier than I have to and go online to enjoy myself rather than work to the very day my father dies at 87yo despite being clear headed and competent. I have no wish to be enslaved by you. That is something socialists cannot seem to understand. If I give my services for free, which I have many times, that is NOT the same as being forced to. In my culture we call it favors at the end of a shotgun, "favores con escopetas" and the intelligent find ways around it. The more laws, taxes and regulations you put in past around 20% the more intelligent hard working people resent the so called poor and turn to gaming the system with a hypocritical smile on their face.

2ndAndrocentric

So the UK is the same then? I think the UK ran out of money a week after Thatcher left Downing street. It makes me wonder if she was a secret lioness.

2ndAndrocentric

Nah, they threw me out for using Cuban pesos.

2ndAndrocentric

Now I am angry. The Gal to say that wasn't a pun is just lying.

2ndAndrocentric

Now please do NOT tell Azurereader this. TRIGGER WARNIGN, PLEASE DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU HAVE A SAFE SPACE TO DIVE INTO....IIIIINCOMING! After downloading to my hard drive, I edit the files putting in a bunch of stuff about how horrible feminism, ecoterrorists and communists are. Then I pay a hacker friend to secretly replace what Tefler wrote on Patreon with my own vile versions. Shhhhh! It is a secret! I used to write my own stuff also but things got a bit busy and bleeding inside both my eyes has not helped my typing much. The bleeding has been improving as more companies reconsider Didn;t Earn It hiring.

2ndAndrocentric

So I am on Patreon low tier. On my Windows computer I click on Tefler icon on the top right which takes me to the home page. In the middle right there is a search box. I type in the number of the chapter I want and Bingo the dog shows up with the chapter in his mouth wagging his tail. Then I download it, open it in Word and give Bingo a doggy treat for being helpful. Be very careful to only download completed chapters though or it can become messy.

2ndAndrocentric

Can someone tell me how to get a few chapters I'm missing?

Randal Glassman

I enjoy your writing and I hope you get the treatment that you need. God bless you

Dave

To play devils advocate. A chapter charged for 2 half chapters delivered is the best it's been in a while.

Splatz

Not surprised at all. If anyone was expecting a chapter you are deluding yourself's. This pre charge will never stop

Get over yourself. We already have.

What are all of you gonna buy with that extra dollar, go to the strip joint?

Green Seadragon

C'mon man, you're 10 chapters ahead. You've had the time to adjust your spending in the meantime.

Doubt cost is more than 10 placeholders....

Keepit simple

I am done!

I tend to believe him, it's this time of year that Canada runs out of medical budget and those who can afford it come over the border.

Johnkr

The NHS has been a joke for quite a few years now and one of the main reasons that we left the UK after all them repeatedly canclling and putting back the "minor"operation led directly to thedeath of my Dadathough they deny any wrong doing or mis or ill treatment despite what we witnessed. Yhey also strung Mum along for a couple of years about her cataracts cancelling her op for one of them then removing her from the waiting list so her GP had to apply for her to be added, at the back of the queue, again. We moved to Bulgaria in July her eye was done in December and the surgeon informed us that her treatment in the UK under the NHS was known the not productive and had been tried and rejected here quite a few years back. It appears that her "specialist" at the NHS was using his patients as "test subjects" ut not informing them of this fact and due to this she ended up almost blind. When she suffered a prolasped bladder she saw our local doctor on Wednesday she was seen and examined by the specialist on Friday and admotted to Hospital on Sunday. Initially they thought she might need a minor op but mnaged to sort the problem with out it she spent a week in hospital yet in the UK under the NHS it would have been months to see the specialist more so because shewas elderly there hp is that she would die before they need to do anything thus saving money. Nibbles

Nibbles

Okay, how much would it cost to have Tefler come to the US and get the medical treatment he needs? Because this run around from the British healthcare system is just insane. Yes, US healthcare is expensive as hell, but they at least don't leave you suffering for more than a year from something that has repeatedly put you in the ER.

Jedi Khan

You have a $7,366.00 per month mortgage? That's how much Patreon shows you pulling per chapter (may or may not take into account people who went into their settings and restricted charges to one per month). Used to be over $9,000.00 (no Dragonball pun intended) but those placeholders are probably hurting paid membership -- still hovering at 10.5 paid for ahead of being delivered.

Woodrobin

I'm really enjoying the series! Keep up the great work!

Flex

Surprise surprise. Yet another excuse. Iv been with you since the beginning but im done now. If this was any other job you would have been fired long ago for the kind of b.s you keep pulling
