Sorry this chapter took a lot longer to finish than I expected. The story took an unexpected turn, so I had to alter all my previous plans for the upcoming story-arcs.
I've added a # at the end of the first half, so if you want to jump straight to the new scenes, then just search for the hash symbol.

Racheal to find out what does what, make the bit that don't need to come from john, then add the minimum possible "John" to that cocktail. "2) Advanced AIs" Something that isn't in the "rule book" would defiantly help, but I suspect developing AI is too resource intensive and too small a gain. "3) Find / study and duplicate the Shroud" All a lot easier said than done. Spreading it would help if he can Get Ran on side (he won't leave the shroud), and taking a bit away could relive the Krixx problem. Transporting the Krixx to somewhere outside the Shroud and making them someone else problem could be an interesting tactic "4) Rapidly get new and improved (white) Soul Forge(s) online" A high priority. It's been heavily hinted that it's just "black metal", but made with love rather than pain and suffering, so it would still need psychic input. Shoving all those crippled ships through the Soul forge to turn them white and upgrade/fix them would be good. They may need to adapt it to use the Greys, and far more of them so it doesn't kill them. Remember X has set it all up like an RTS, with tech tree unlocks etc.. All the tactics, units, tech etc have been designed to feed X, NOT to be the best Ship, Soul forge, Wormhole generator etc possible. John isn't part of this game, and doesn't have to follow the rules, so can have optimal ships, tactic etc, which is an immediate advantage. E.G. Gal's Thralls were horrified by Johns hit and run tactics and the Ambush Jenna set on the planet. They looked on it the same way John and the girls do the way the Soul forge is powered. Big tactical advantage to team John.

2024-11-25 03:02:52 +0000 UTCWhen they discover the location of Gahl's hyperwarp gate, they realize that he initially jumped in to the location of Larn'kelnar's death, and placed his gate there too. So they have to assume that Xar'aziuth knows where Gahl died as well, and will send a Progenitor directly to Kythshara. Tefler also added some minor changes to the end of 170 at one point, so you might be reading the old version. The new one should end with John swearing as he makes the realization I outlined above. If you weren't reading the updated version, hopefully the changes make it flow better. If you were, I hope my explanation was helpful.

(a smitten kitten) -- And a fixed / improved Wormhole Generator with no nausea and a better recharge time: even an 8-hour recharge time vs a black metal standard 12-hour time would be a big improvement, .... ;-) ttfn

Maybe Lynette will mention it in passing during a telepathic conversation with Alyssa, or Alyssa will hear her thinking about it, and she will become suspicious of the circumstances and convince Lynette to postpone his execution until they can read his mind to be certain. That would especially work if Alyssa talked to the crew about it, because Calara probably came across Tom when she was researching his uncle's death and would know he had no motive, or at least that the motive of money doesn't make sense.

2024-11-01 03:18:49 +0000 UTCIrillith might need to learn new tricks to hack into a dreadnought, but not T-Fed networks. Irillith can do that in her sleep. But she would still need a reason to. That reason would have to get her to the Tom Walker case which she doesn’t even know about. I seriously doubt given that the next progenitor is likely to arrive any minute that Irillith will indulge going down a rabbit hole that leads all the way to Tom Walker. While I’m pretty sure Irillith looking into the evidence will be the end game I’m not seeing any hints being dropped about how we get there. If they go back to Terra and Lynette mentions the case it might prompt Alyssa to read Tom’s mind to find out he’s innocent. Then Irillith to figure out what did happen. Unfortunately Terra is at the very end of a long list of places John urgently needs to be. If Dana fixes the wormhole generator and it not only gets rid of the barfng but also recharges a lot faster - like 10 minutes - they might do a test run to congratulate Lynette and Charles on the baby.

Sooner or later, X probably tells a progenitor to have a son, and where to send him to claim those thralls. When he comes of age (and is’trained’ by his guid) the neophyte progenitor claims them, builds them up, and the cycle of genocide repeats.

Gahl didn’t have the sophistication that Valeria had in drawing power from thralls when Valeria refused, so it’s a different link. Guess we’ll find out when Valeria wakes up. Great chapter Tef.

2024-11-01 02:16:39 +0000 UTCI hope we get 172 tonight. On my tablet and can't paragraph correctly. My long range projection... Anyway, to get Tom Walker free, Faye needs to return. Then, Faye and Irillith in the cyber network of Gally's dreadnought, they learn new tricks. Then they see Kythshara, T-Fed, Maliri, Brimorian and other networks. In her inspection request at the end of Chapter 171, she will see a network aberration that needs Faye. John contacts Lynette to stop the Commander Walker execution as something fishy was seen by Rill. Faye returns, the Walker system corruption is found to be a Gally architected action. John transmits what really happened. I have no idea what Tefler has planned to make this happen but this is my plunge into the whirlpool.

Whenever John has broken his bond to Alyssa or Edraele, their psychic network remained in place, because he didn't have to reform it all over again, he just reconnected to the matriarch of those networks. We can't be certain what this situation will be like, but it seems logical to assume that Valeria still has access to the psychic network of all the Galkirans. So what happens when Galkirans get connected to John, do they leave Valeria's network and join Kaija's, or are those Galkirans now connected to two matriarchs? On top of that, if John is able to eventually connect with Valeria, will her entire psychic network of billions of Galkirans come with her? Will she become just another ward under Kaija, or will there be a complex web of connections between them? These are questions that will be answered unless Valeria ends up dying, which I don't see happening in the forseeable future. Or is it just much simpler than all that? Maybe the psychic network completely dissipated after Gahl's death, and the only reason Alyssa and Edraeles' networks remained intact was because John hadn't died, merely severed the connection, or maybe because the matriarchs made a conscious or subconscious effort to hold the network together.

2024-10-31 18:25:19 +0000 UTCYeah, it'll be interesting to see what kind of conflicts might arise from that situation, especially considering by the time they find Valeria, most of the Galkirans will probably think she's dead. I'm curious to see if the behavior modifcation works on her, because we've seen that she has psychic capabilities, and the three Valadens, who all had psychic potential, were resistant to it at first.

But much more simply, the Collective doesn't really have a purpose outside being on the Invictus. They were only taken off the ship to help with this battle by controlling the robot soldiers.

Also, each past conquest may have abandoned thrall kingdoms from their own past conquests. And so on... Tefler must decide how deep this goes.

"The corridors were eerily silent, and illuminated only by an ominous red pall that radiated upwards from lightning strips embedded in the floor.", ... first is no comma that was needed after 'silent', .... And lastly there was an extra letter, ... 'lightning' s/b 'lighting', .... no 'n' was needed, it just made it the wrong word, ... I'm sure I missed another oops or two, ... but I was loving the story too much, ... take care and thanks, .... ;-) ttfn

Oh and I pray if you are truly a Florida man that Milton and the other hurricane didn’t hit you too hard from the news I’ve seen and YouTubers it looks horrendous truly horrible for everyone affected. My problem is I was diagnosed as having fibromyalgia I’ve suffered from pain for years but lately it was one thing going wrong then another then another if I wasn’t a dad to two beautiful girls one of which has Down syndrome then I’d be down below due to the ultimate sin as they say.
