Three Square Meals Ch. 181 (Placeholder)

Hey everyone,

Apologies for the second placeholder. Please see the previous post for the update on my current health situation, and my plans to attempt to catch up on the backlog.

Someone asked what I'll do when Patreon shifts to a monthly billing cycle.

I plan to post multiple chapters per month until I've cleared the backlog, at which point I'll probably shift to a single chapter per month.

Best wishes,

Tefler

To limit the number of times you can be charged per month before the end of the year to take care of that pesky second placeholder. Go to Membership -> Edit -> Payment Amount -> Set Monthly Limit and enter "1".

Tom Ray

They accidentally added an additional gallbladder and now he needs five more surgeries on his light bill.

Garrett

I was always led to believe the poms had one of the best healthcare in the world, obviously that can’t be true with the issue Tef is having. I’m 73yo this year in 2nd May I had a total right shoulder replacement & in the 3rd October I had major spine surgery on T2,T3 & T4 and a week in another hospital for rehabilitation. I also had my Gal remove in 2021 spend a week in hospital with infection & 3 months later had the gal removed. So I find the issue Tef is having with healthcare system strange & frightening

Warren Thomas

Everyone should just report them so the account gets shut done. That was a serious threat and it's messed up

Zachariah Beasley

He’s allllll over the comments bullying & threatening people for not being as nasty toward Tefler as he is.

Astrid Milken

That was mean and unnecessary. Being a bully to people who have done nothing to you isn’t going to get your money back. Do better!

Astrid Milken

i wish, i’d be there like a shot, easy money.

stephen mincher

where do you find the bookie that takes those bets?

Evilebob

Hi guys Unfortunately due to my operation this month I've only been able to complete 95% of 171. I'll post the last scene one in back home from hospital. And I really understand how tired you are of place holders but I've got to keep the lights on and because of my operation I need to post another 2 placeholders. But this will be the last time I promise (not the least of which because Patreon won't allow them anymore). Now that in at home recovering I'll have lots of time to catch up on all those chapters I owe you. Until next month (when complications from surgery mean that he still can't catch up)

Korzic

If the surgery happened, I hope it was fully successful.

Big Dude

People always want more. There are actually people bitching because when the Israeli Air Force bombed selective targets in Iran the other night the explosions weren't big enough.

John the 5th

Tefler could make extra money by having side bets on the number of comments his posts generate. e.g. <50 evens >200 10/1. placeholders have more comments.

stephen mincher

I hope it hasn't been cancelled again, and I hope it goes well. But, he won't feel like doing much for a couple of weeks, with two holes in him. :( I suspect he has been "saving" whatever he has completed (before the op) for the end of the month. Hopefully all the excuses will be out the way next month, and we can get Faye back, build some ships and do some recruiting PS It would be nice for him to update us how it went. Something like a "had the OP, feeling a bit sore, but all went well" type thing.

ThunderBird Two

If it’s not the final hour of the month Tef does not post. I’d skip a month if I thought he was going to recover to full strength. My fear is what’s a 12 hour and done process for everyone else will take Tef years to recover from.

AzureReader

Okay I will remove the elephant from the room. I guess the big thing is, if Tefler learned he was going under the knife today, why wasn't the rest of 171 posted before today? He would have received much sympathy for his efforts.

Big Dude

Only thing for certain is at least one placeholder at last hour of the month. Maybe pain meds will make creativity flow and 10.5 chapters start to flow. I know that is probably pain meds from my recent surgery texting....most times finally getting surgery over with helps mental a lot more than physical being.

Keepit simple

@Perry "TheShiz" Carrruthers Regarding obscure references, we may also be related to a Coca-Cola vending machine named Janet. The math is very complicated, and to fully work the equation, you will need a rubber band, a latex glove, and a paperclip.

Florida Reader

I have been lurking in the background, reading all the comments. I thought I would toss in my little prediction: No communication at all. The surgery everything out of him. No updates to be forthcoming.

John Brewer

So ... effectively we are both Schrodinger's cat (a paradox of quantum superposition wherein a hypothetical cat may be considered both alive and dead simultaneously because its fate is linked to a random event that may or may not occur) AND the Ruler of the Universe's cat (from Douglas Adams' Restaurant at the End of the Universe - “It’s nothing to do with me,” he said). Anyway, we're cats, apparently. Or something. Where was I? (Exits muttering.)

Perry Carruthers

@ Big Dude but he sure dun talk purty, eh?

Perry Carruthers

Thanks! Been catching up on the story

Kevin Simon

Nope, not a glitch...171 was the last thing posted, well, half if it anyway...but the rest is supposed to be posted any day now....

Hendrix Morton

Tef said his surgery was scheduled for tomorrow, the 25th. Hope that holds and all goes well… but unfortunately it would mean no partial chapter this month. On the other hand the NHS has proven perpetually incapable of doing the simplest surgery because something always comes up.

AzureReader

All I see are place holders after 171… is that a glitch?

Kevin Simon

The 4th October weekend is soon upon us and no update from Mr. T.

Big Dude

I can't think like you guys do in those long paragraphs above. I was taught to be concise and write in short paragraphs. You two deliver an enhanced comedic version of the multiple story delays that is NOT WORD SALAD!

Big Dude

This month.... The hope - two chapters and one placeholder. (To start catching up the debt) The reality - half a chapter and two more placeholders. (He has to get them in while he still can right?). As soon as he starts catching up, I'll re-up my contribution.

Well said

@Perry "AbsolutBadass" Carruthers and @El Cabrone Grande have helped to further develop this thread. I thank them for their insight and observations. We all have our different life paths that led to us stumbling upon the TSM story. We were lured in by young Alyssa as she stowed away on our jaded hero's ship. We kept being drawn deeper into the universe, dragging Tefler in with us as we showered him with praise and our piggy banks. And then it happened -- like Alice, we stepped through a looking glass and wound up in the universe we now inhabit. Once past the event horizon, we will be inexorably pulled to the center of the black hole, whereupon any distinction between ego and alter-ego will be lost to the compressed unity afforded by the physics of singularity and infinity. Yes, my friends, we are now trapped and cannot escape our eventual fate. Of course, the simple fact remains: while the story remains unfinished, we exist, albeit in alternating states of obsequious cheerleader praise (like my colleague Michael65Smith) or abject beta little-bitch whining (Jim Lynch comes to mind). If Tefler finishes the story, we will cease to exist- joining the singularity created by the black hole that powers our experience. It is in this in-between state that we find life. Some might be disappointed to learn that life as they know it has been reduced to waiting for chapters of one of the most incredible blow job stories to appear since the first screening of Deep Throat. I know I would feel disappointed if I saw it this way. Instead, I am a "watch Jim Lynch drink a glass half-full of semen" kind of guy. I enjoy watching Jim get his panties in a twist as he blows over Tefler's latest broken promise (I will leave it to you to guess what Jim blows). I appreciate the occasional clever satire provided by EvileBob while I wait for the next dribble from the master himself. I revel in the occasional insightful comment about the story. I encourage Michael65Smith to continue his cheerleading. Why do I do this? Because I am painfully aware that I have become part of a universe that exists only while Tefler continues working hard and not producing more content. If his output increases significantly and he completes the story, we will all be doomed. We do not exist in a universe where Tefler somehow figures out how to deliver content on time AND keep his fans happy. I propose that Tefler's medical trouble enforces the laws of existence manifested by our reality. Consequently, if we value our pathetic lives, we should rejoice every time Tefler fails to deliver. We should shout praise when we receive a hard-to-believe excuse, for such events are good omens that promise us our continued existence. I worry for our future when Tefler can no longer charge for placeholders. We will miss out on one of life's great joys -- watching the whining, the defending, and all of the other silliness that is written in the comments when Tefler disappoints. I fear for EvileBob's writing prowess -- what will happen when he no longer has the placeholder debacle to lampoon? I do not fear for Michael65Smith. He may be the only unshakeable optimist in the entire fanbase. He actually may be immortal, although I am still trying to wrap my brain around this concept. Our only hope is for the dysfunction to continue. It is where we all find our bliss. Even Jim Lynch. To bring this all back to full circle, I started this thread by writing, "Truth that cuts deeply is sweeter than life itself." We find ourselves in a universe of our own making—one that exacts disappointment as its price for our continued enjoyment. The fact that you feel such pain is proof of life. Are you not entertained?

Florida Reader

@Big Dude You genius. I think you might have solved the puzzle. Your reference to Tef having an alter ego strikes a resounding chord with me. What if Tef has multiple alters? This could account for why he goes 'radio silent' for extended periods; why he seems to forget promises against placeholders; why he never seems to get around to having life-bettering surgery, etc. If he oscillates between alters, the 'writer' might appear in a fugue state ('shroud'), unable to hold the recollections and experiences of the other alters. This sort of Dissociative Identity Disorder is well-documented and more common in creatives especially if subject to stress. Now that I think about it, the entire TSM universe is bristling with alters. So ... is Tef actually John and/or all the progenitors and/or Xar’aziuth? What if he is also Alyssa (who after all is also a progenitor) as well as Athena (who seems to be an alter of Alyssa)? What about the nymphs, who all seem to be alters of Jade. Could Tef be ALL the girls? We need @Florida Reader and @ EvileBob to help us navigate this extraordinary development.

Perry Carruthers

Pary that thought Perry and Florida. May I proffer a counter offer... Tefler's alter ego is Xar’aziuth. We are the progenitors being sucked into the astral plane each month awaiting our "orders". Lately, some have felt, me included, that Xar’aziuth isn't as potent as he once was. Hence, many have dropped their astral plane tethers to a bare connection existence. Once the mighty Xar’aziuth re-emerges with the same prodigious power and authority, our astral plane tethers will be reconstituted back to full strength 💪.

Big Dude

No clue who this Azure reader is, prob someone I blocked for whining.

Myrnalin

Since this is the last time he can do placeholders, I expect 1/4 of 171 to be posted, leaving 1/4 of 171 left to do (in the next few days), 3 placeholders, and more medical excuses about not getting his needed surgery because of being bumped by cancer patients, athletes-foot patients, and hangnail needs....and vague promises about the remaining missing chapters that will be coming in the future...maybe the year 2032 or so...

Hendrix Morton

--- goodbye Stephen, and best of luck in your future story reads, .... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

Sorry Tefler, but I have lost interest in this story which probably should have come to a conclusion eighty chapters ago.

Stephen Conrad

Puppets all are we. Tefler - that evil genius beyond compare - created a fractal multiverse to keep his readers engaged well beyond any rational limit. Like stacked Russian dolls, our perceived reality is successively revealed to be interdependent upon his other creations. He created and fosters The Tension as a self-fuelling engine of suspense, anticipation, and uncertainty catalysed by commenters' conflict. He must laugh with delight as we foolish mortals wonder: what will happen next?

Perry Carruthers

@Florida Reader A thousand gratitudes for your generous praise. However, the tenor of your tribute infers a certain cynicism regarding those that conte the coins under the very weighbridge upon which our universe resides. I caution restraint - and caution - for behind the curtain might not lie the Wizard of Oz after all. Perhaps it was Keyser Söze all along. You'll never stop him in his tracks, and as you should have known by now, He is Ruthless.

Perry Carruthers

What is with the blowing tiny cocks fetish, Jim? Do you realize you reveal far more about yourself with your whiney little bitch-like comments? Once again, you have proven yourself to be a little boy, most likely still suffering from (or dreaming about) being dominated by large women (perhaps your sisters, mother, and grandmother?) who degraded you and made you do embarrassing things while you jacked your tiny cock. Was it your nanny? I don't know, but whoever it was, she sure made you lash out like a tiny-dicked, whiny little bitch. Maybe it was your dad -- did he wear women's clothes?

Florida Reader

Wow, Jim. I didn't know you were English. One more piece of the puzzle falls in place...

Florida Reader

@EvileBob -- Truth that cuts deeply is sweeter than life itself. Tefler, in his glorious genius and diabolical generosity, has carved a null space in the psychic universe. His readers, once they have crossed the event horizon of interest, are drawn inexorably into the well of this emotionally turbulent prison, forever destined to seek the thrill of new chapters while battling one another over ethics, business practices, and the insanity of thrall-like supporters and fanatically offended detractors. The constant churning of this milieu of the malcontent occasionally brings to the surface bursts of epic satire, comedy, and ridicule -- interspersed with actual commentary by the residents of the null space on the story itself. Who can say whether I am writing this comment as myself or merely as a puppet who has been molded and sculpted to perform by the master to write this pablum -- trapped in the controlled fusion of a young star? Are my rantings the catalyst to spur others to create more fuel to perpetuate the reaction, leading inevitably to the eruption of a poignant comment by one prisoner and a thousand moronic or mundane comments by others? We, the pitiful victims of this null space, are doomed to continue this dance, powerless to escape this black hole under whose influence we have succumbed. Are we simply part of the show for the mighty and all-powerful, offering salutary gestures to our emperor as we predict our demise? You proposed the following hypothesis, "It’s entirely possible that we’re mere players in this grand, cosmic scheme, and every placeholder or delayed chapter is a well-calculated move, akin to Xar’aziuth’s machinations." I suggest that Xar’aziuth is a fool, no different than any of his victims -- or, more precisely -- Tefler and his Patreons are trapped in a null space of their combined unwitting design. No one wanted it to begin with, but once the null space appeared, all succumbed to its effect.

Florida Reader

@Perry Muthaphquin Carruthers: WOW. I have to say that your comment is impressive. I give it a 9.5 in out-on-a-limb predictiveness, a 7 in style, an 8.3 in creative thinking, an 8.2 in fiscal gamesmanship, but only a 5.1 in the legal effectiveness and fortitude of Patreon "principals" -- although as pure fantasy, the phrase "Patreon principals" scores a perfect 10. My opinion means little, however, even if I back it up with highly specific and scientific scoring categories. No, my colleague and occasional sparring partner, EvileBob, is the one that truly matters in levying judgment upon your offering. I wish you well, mighty contender.

Florida Reader

Seriously, you need a hobby. My comment was not hateful it was logical but you are threatening my person and my health and that is so far past ok

Zachariah Beasley

Well, interesting that I get hate filled responses for a logical statement

Zachariah Beasley

I highly doubt we will get the rest of this chapter this month. We will get a message some time early-mid Nov telling us that the op went well, but healing is taking longer than expected. We might see that chapter in Late Nov. Also we will probably we saddled with two more placeholders end of October with a short note saying sorry again but i must do this to survive. Especially seeing this is the last month he can do so. My two cents worth

rich ed

Just type in "Chapter (number) complete"

Who Me

-- hmmm, .... the chapters and the placeholders are all numbered. Sorry for your confusion, ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

Thank you SP R.

Big Dude

My current problem with placeholders is, that I have trouble finding the chapters I have not read yet. It is confusing.

DB

The three epic sagas I mentioned all have love stories for the main characters woven into the plot. In many ways more intense love stories than TSM. Not erotic literature though. The epics are spicy enough with out it.

AzureReader

Blocking those accounts on here that write insane comments is the best thing I ever did. And in case you are wondering what side I'm on if you can read this I might just be agreeing with your line of thought.

SP Rupert

As I have said before. The healthcare system has treated you very shabbily. I would have long ago considered medical tourism to India or one of the other countries that have high quality/low cost medical treatment.

Stephen Conrad

Productivity Prediction: 1.5 chapters. He will rise up. Excuse prediction: Gall bladder pain will cause him multiple doctor visits at £££££ / visit so two placeholders November 1st.

Big Dude

At this tipping point in history, there is little point in being timid, so my prediction this month may cause sensitive readers some visceral impairment: As the nebula of destiny coalesces around him, and the principals of Patreon prepare to inhibit his laissez faire business model, Tefler pulls the trigger on a series of implosive declarations. He delivers the remaining portion of ch171, and NO new placeholders. He is conspicuously silent about his earlier undertakings to catch up on placeholder chapters. He reveals that his complex medical maladies have affected his output, and then asserts that he is going to take the rest of 2024 to undergo a sequence of planned surgeries and convalescence, and does not intend to provide any more chapters this year. He will say that in 2025 his billing model will change to monthly only and promises no more placeholders. However he does not know how he will deal with the backlog of missing chapters and will use his medical leave time to try to work out a solution. He does not say what will happen in the new year if he fails to post a chapter. He will talk optimistically but vaguely about his proposed output, without committing to anything in particular. Bonus prediction: In late 2024 Tefler will come up with an offer to his aggrieved Patreon supporters: in the alternative to giving them the TSM chapters they have already 'purchased', he will instead give them chapters to a spin-off novel within the same universe. He has been toying with this concept for awhile, and has several draft chapters already written. Instead of working them into the timeline of TSM, he will create a new story for Patreon fans only, and will credit them with the number of owed-chapters from TSM. This way he can start afresh with the new Patreon billing format unencumbered with the old baggage.

Perry Carruthers

Tefler, like Xar’aziuth, seems to have mastered the ancient art of harnessing both the devotion of his followers and the fury of his detractors. Perhaps, like the demigods of TSM, he is indeed feeding off the very emotions his placeholders and sporadic communications generate—sustaining himself on the swirling maelstrom of anticipation and frustration. It’s entirely possible that we’re mere players in this grand, cosmic scheme, and every placeholder or delayed chapter is a well-calculated move, akin to Xar’aziuth’s machinations. As we hang on to every word—or lack thereof—Tefler’s universe expands with every impassioned comment, every spark of outrage, and every ounce of patience drained. And who knows? Maybe Tef isn’t just winding us up; maybe he's conducting a grand experiment on fan psychology. After all, much like the progenitors, he holds the keys to our shared universe and continues to shape it… whenever he deems the time is right. 🌀 Your command has been obeyed, and I now await the next loyal commenter’s take on how Tef mirrors the creations of his universe. Bravo once again, Psychic Kyth’faren!

Evilebob

🔮 October Psychic Kyth’faren Predictions Contest! 🔮 Seers, soothsayers, and those attuned to the cosmic flow of delayed chapters—it’s time to test your foresight once again! As we find ourselves on October 17th, with no updates since the half-chapter drop on September 30th, it seems prudent to wait for the true psychics among us to rise. After all, why rush when we can bask in the suspense? The last update promised more content within a few days. Yet here we are, with nary a whisper since. But this, my friends, is exactly the kind of silence where the best predictions flourish—where hopefuls drop away and only the most insightful emerge! Before we dive into this month's contest, let us take a moment to praise our September Psychic Kyth’faren champions, Hendrix Morton and Perry Carruthers, whose predictions of multiple placeholders and medical excuses were passively accurate. Their clairvoyance has earned them a special place in the Kyth’faren halls of fame. And let’s not forget Michael Pritchett, our honorable mention, whose patience and belief that “Tefler is doing everything he can” seemed to reflect the deepest truths of this journey. Bravo to all of you! Now, it’s time for a new set of predictions! Who will rise this month? Who can peer through the veil of silence and see what’s coming by the end of October? How to Enter: 1. Productivity Prediction: Will Tefler deliver the rest of Chapter 171? Or will we see a placeholder drop instead? Maybe we’ll get both! Predict exactly what will happen by the end of the month. 2. Excuses Prediction (Optional): What will the reason for any delays be? Will the elusive surgery finally happen? A new health issue, perhaps? Or a surprise event? Bonus points for creativity! Important: Posts must follow the format to be considered. Remember, while hope springs eternal, we encourage accuracy and a touch of skepticism for the most insightful predictions. Let the games begin, and may the true psychics rise above the gullible hopefuls who believed content would flow freely before the month's end. As always, we’ll crown the October Psychic Kyth’faren at month’s end with the reverence and honor they deserve! Good luck, everyone! Let’s see who can peer through the silence and predict what’s really in store. 🍀🔮

Evilebob

As the Co-Winner of the September Psychic Kyth’faren Predictions Contest (thank you @EvileBob for this high honour), I hereby claim my reward: From now until the end of October, EVERY commenter MUST comment on Tef's communication style by reference to an aspect of TSM (such as a theme or character). To obey my own rule, I'll go first: Tef's ability to incite fanatical loyalty is testament to his writing skills and prodigious imagination, while the furious outrage he generates at the same time can be very largely attributed to his woeful communications with his readers. In this respect therefore, Tef mirrors all of the protagonist progenitors in TSM. Millions are enthralled - and completely loyal - to each such demigod, while those opposing them are equally fanatical in their hatred of them. Since both Tef and Xar’aziuth are the 'boss' creators of their respective universes, and X feeds off negative energy, is it possible that Tef is winding us up deliberately?

Perry Carruthers

October 17th, no rest of 171. Nary a peep. My readers are a dung heap; will reply to them when I choose. This will be three end of the week events by Saturday. Of course M56S will write something dumb again.

Big Dude

Nope will be 31st of oktober.. i guess

Death is the ultimate freedom. If you’re not ready for that, and you like epic world-building fantasy stories involving mystical powers similar to the psychic powers in TSM, I’d recommend: Brendon Sanderson books starting with the Mistborn trilogy. Very well written. Sarah Maas series of books including the Court of Thorns and Roses series and the Throne of Glass series. Both fantastic. All three of these epic stories are fully complete.

AzureReader

Red Think I remember reading something about the children being the same as the mother.

ThunderBird Two

A friend just had his gall bladder done that way and was back in two weeks. And this is the medical system being proffered for future American consumption? I wrote last year that the natives would become restless if Tefler didn't begin weekly updates to his condition. You can perform a Patreon search on that phrase. People are naturally empathetic to any medical condition., even schizophrenia to some degree. But, when you are left in the dark for a long time, the short hair scratching begins. My 2 cents.

Big Dude

I don't feel that tefler is a communist, I mean democrat, I feel sorry he couldn't have gotten his surgery 4 months ago, laparoscopically in the US.

Dumb response M56S. Can you add something useful beside the continuous lapdogging? William, I am slowly coming to your thoughts too. Azure, with that freedom, do you have a replacement? There will be withdrawal symptoms.

John the 5th

@Michael56Smith - since you’re ok with giving Tef money for nothing please up your pledge to $10,000 a chapter. Then Tef will only have to pre-charge everyone else once for those few words that we get. One precharge is better than two.

Unresolved Plots

I’m waiting another 22 days if he has not produced at least 2 chapters I will request Patreon for my money back and that will be the end of TSM (Tefler) I didn’t mind 1 placeholder but this is ridiculous, I’m not used paying for something I didn’t receive!! I faithfully followed him on Patreon from day one and if this is the way he treats his supporters, health wise I don’t want to go to that ally, gallstones is sometimes painful but I live with them for nearly 10 years , just pay attention to what you eat! With the money he gets every month he could have gone private!! BTW I could give a toss for those that will hate me!!!! For those interested I live in the same county but way up North.

William Wallace

It is because he promises to catch up...write multiple chapters in the coming month ....but never delivers...and I mean never.

wally ballou

@Thunderbird I think you are hitting the nail on the head, although maybe you should have mentioned how terrible Tefler is at communicating. ;) The anger some people have expressed (calling him a fraud or worse) is obviously unwaranted, but in my opinion he made 10x worse than it should have been. The mood really shifted when he went away for months without giving any updates - people genuinely thought he had died. That's just not something you do to your dedicated community. Even now he seems to only give updates out of obligation at the start of the month, which comes off as distant and untrustworthy. Had he written somewhat regular updates, explaining why he's struggling, I think most people would have been happy to support him even without regular chapter drops. A good example for this is FortySixtyFour, who went through some pretty tough times (living in an RV with bad heating, etc.) but he bounced back and is posting regularly again. Another thing to note is that his story (Animecon Harem) got deleted off Literotica when people got angry that he wasn't posting there anymore - I'm worried that might also happen to Tefler.

Kilomenon

I'm afraid that will lead to a drop in patreon supporters, which will compound the problem. It could lead to the end of TSM as Tef would need to do other things in order to make his monthly income. I, for one, do NOT relish the idea of losing this amazing saga

Rayce Royal

If Charles ever found out what was in that kiss, he would go absolutely ape shit

Rayce Royal

I'm assuming based on Thunderbirds reply that apparently only Americans are upset about being ripped off. To clarify it's not about the dollar it's about the principle of the matter.

Tyler Derkearmian

As good an answer a Azure readers was ...... I would say (from my limited experience) 1: Frustration at the missed chapter it represents 2: Because the story is so good, people are quite invested at an emotional level 3: Teflers terrible communication 4: And now the controversial one - (mostly Americans) People judging Tef by their own low standards i.e. assuming he is ripping them off, because that's what they would do. 5: Tefs terrible communication 6: Jealously (again mostly Americans) that Tef is getting quite a bit of money for not a lot of work. In my opinion. **retreats to flame proof bunker**

ThunderBird Two

The only issue there is that once they force Tefler to go to the Monthly plan, he doesn't need to post anything to get his monthly pound-of-flesh...It's just automatic...and of course, he can't multi-charge either...once a month is all that there will be....

Hendrix Morton

Interesting. My guess would be nothing, else there would be male thralls.

Myrnalin

Babies all of them. Block them. I dont really see the complainers, as they are all blocked.

Myrnalin

I wonder what would happen if jade gave a kiss to Charles

Alan Blachard

Some people hate the concept of being charged for something they are not getting… even if only $1. Other people love TSM and are disappointed that they get nothing or a fraction of a chapter at the end of the month. They don’t care about the $1, but the charges represent how much exciting story they should be reading and are disappointed-angry about how little they are getting. I’m upset that Tefler’s behavior is self-destructive to the extreme. When Patreon terminates Tefler, which is only a matter of time, Tefler loses his income and TSM is likely all over for everyone. I’m not upset about the $1. I’m accepting that Tef can only write so fast so I’m ok with 1/2 chapter a month. I just don’t want it all be over, which seems inevitable. It’s inevitable because Patreon itself hates the idea of being liable to refund several thousand users an endlessly increasing number of precharges. If I were them I’d terminate him now so I only have to refund $90K instead of waiting until he’s 30 pre charges behind and users demand $270K. Patreon itself doesn’t care about TSM… it’s only business. Tef, unfortunately, is not good business.

AzureReader

Fair statement Akshay. Why do you think I haven't bothered to do the same even though I've pointed out where it could maybe be pulled from but just because I've given it some thought doesn't mean I could personally care enough to actually spend the time doing that task. However, I saw an individual who appeared to have that time and claiming to have done that work but alas the work appears incomplete at best. So I thought maybe with a little direction and perspective this industrious individual may be interested in doing what many have thought about but nobody having the actual care or investment to actually bother with the doing(including me).

Evilebob

Come on Bob, doing the maths would be a few hours work and I definitely don't think any of us are being paid enough by tefler to tally up his income without access to his paperwork. The only reason people (like me) complain is because we are still interested in the story and Tefler keeps dangling these tasty bits once a month while taking a buck from us. At least GRRM isn't pretending that his book is coming anytime this decade, and he also isn't charging us a buck a month while he writes it.

Akshay Anand

--- Is anyone able to explain the gut-level hate some seem to have for Placeholders, ... it seems to be similar to the US polarized hate for opposing political parties, ... but why? ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

That's good... better keep it at elementary level then so you don't get lost o.O So your giving him 2 years of placeholder behavior but are you still missing numbers? Not every placeholder was a singular one. At some point he started the behavior of double placeholders but you can't just double the intake for each of those because how do you assume or account for however many subscribers have limited his monthly billing to once? If your using 2 years as the duration then say Dec 2020 he had over 4k subscribers. IE (4123) and at end of sept 2024 (4303)... not a vast difference just by subscriber count, so how do you actually measure the real world impact of the placeholders?

Evilebob

This whole precharge scam will be the end of TSM and all income for Tefler. This isn’t whining, it’s just a statistical certainty. At the moment he’s 10.5 chapters behind and is charging for two chapters for every 1/2 chapter he delivers. By the end of the 2025 by those statistics Tefler will have delivered 7.5 more chapters and charged for 28. He will be 31 chapters behind. Even if he throws a few 1-charge months in there it won’t help much. As he slowly bleeds supporters it’s more likely he will need 2 charges a month or more to maintain his lifestyle. There is zero percent chance that Patreon will tolerate that level of ripping people off. It’s a liability for them since they may be on the hook for refunding people for all the chapters Tefler will never deliver. I suspect a lot more is going on than the gall bladder. Tef never needed to charge consistently for 2 chapters a month before. Bills have gone up dramatically. Bills coming from a bookie or drug dealer go up like that. Both would explain significantly lower productivity. I hope I’m wrong. Why the bills have gone up is speculation and doesn’t really matter. The charging and chapter delivery are hard statistics. They portray a trajectory that will inevitably lead to Patreon banning Tefler. Will it happen tomorrow? At 20 chapters behind? At 30? No way to know… but one day you’ll all come here and Tefler’s site will be terminated. I wish there was hope for a different outcome. You can certainly hope if you like. Statistics won’t support it though.

AzureReader

That’s using your own graphs, the amount is actually higher because he has lost a bunch of subscribers since then

Kristopher

Bro stop trying to sound smart, let me break it down to an elementary school level problem for you using your info that you provided me. Starting 2 years ago when he started hammering us with placeholders. Question: If an author named Tefler has billed you for for 11 chapers of a book but not provided the content and each chapter is worth an average of 6900, how much money has he made?

Kristopher

BTW that is taken directly from Patreon

William Wallace

● Paid Members 4,308 -2.9% ● Earnings $6,956 -7.1% ● Per patron -$1.61 4.4%

William Wallace

Can you send me that epub. My partner wants to read this but doesn't want to mess with the site

Maurice Steele

Not being sarcastic but is that even close to accurate? And what I mean is that the data is technically out there... IE https://graphtreon.com/creator/user?u=3814558 And say from that data he starts in 2016 and by the end of that year is making around est $533 contribution which is vastly different than 2024 where the avg is $6900(per creation). So to do accurate calculation you need to use the earnings per actual contribution per year which I don't think you did but I honestly welcome you to do so because I would LOVE to know the actual stats.

Evilebob

Well,, if I were Tefler than I would write 2 chapters a month and charge for 1. he gets caught up, loses no income, and I think most would be happy with that. I do understand health issues though. And I'm not gonna miss a few bucks if it takes a while for him to catch up.

raymond sisko

I didn’t check the math first so that’s my bad but I was only off by 12k. $6900( per creation) x 11(placeholders)= $75900.

Kristopher

Can you show the math please?

Evilebob

If you do the math Tefler has accrued the equivalent of a years wages, 88K in placeholders. I wish i could make that kind of money without even lifting a finger. Anyway see you guys on the flip side, sad to say but I can’t support this kind of lies and basically theft from people who genuinely love the product you produce Tefler.

Kristopher

Do you want a cookie? I feel like you need some reward for being that concerned about my comment you needed to find out more about who I support. I can spend my time however I want, and most of it isn’t on here ridiculing Tef. In fact, I’ve stayed mostly silent through placeholder after placeholder. I’m sure you are correct that there are plenty of other authors I’d enjoy in here, but I don’t want to atm, and guess what, there is nothing wrong with that. I have plenty of books to read on my kindle, and actually really look forward to the next chapter drop. BUT it’s not even a full chapter.. and it’s 1 out of NOW 10 he owes us. Lastly, the wall of negativity is mostly on the placeholders. If you go look at the actual half chapter drop, there are a lot of comments about the chapter itself now, not the negativity that comes with the lies and placeholders.

Calvin Martin

You might be thinking of Chapter 165. Setting up Kythshera, (Malnerack's old home world) for the Galkiran attack. Not a moon or a space station.

Fred Hunter

Haven't a clue. How can a space station be a Progenitor's homeworld? That statement doesn't make sense to me. The only homeworld of another Progenitor that they have visited is Larn'kelnars, which was in Chapter 150, so that might be the chapter you are thinking of. If it is you have recalled the details of that chapter incorrectly.

Unresolved Plots

Thanks for the idea. I've changed mine. When I joined, I nearly chose the more expensive option per chapter. I went with the cheapest only because I wasn't sure if I'd be charged retroactively for all the old chapters.

Joel Wyrick

I am lost. Last chapter I read they were setting up an ambush on a moon or space station that was the previous progenitor home world. Anybody know what chapter that is?

Don Morgan

I sincerely doubt that Thomas, .... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

I think you are being very funny as well. Supporting 1 creator and spending your time ridiculing the same creator. Hilarious... There are plenty of other writers on here that I am certain that you would enjoy reading, that way you can spend time reading more fun stories and perhaps choose to enjoy this story a little bit more when you get another chapter. I am making a choice to enjoy this story, and being thankful for the author not dropping it because of some personal hardships combined with being met with a wall of negativity when wanting to read what people think about the published chapters.

slashdot56

Agreed. The chapters are very long so I do not feel cheated at all. 24+++ books and counting.

slashdot56

So where does the Tally happen and how can I get in on this action?

Akshay Anand

You can block people by clicking their name. Also, to me, this comment has no reply, other than mine. I can tell there are others (due to the option of clicking "load replies") but they are whine babies, slugs or trolls.

Myrnalin

I went into the settings for my membership, knocked it down to $1 and limited the maximum number of charges to 1 charge per month. At the current rate of production, that's equivalent to the $3 per chapter I used to support at. I would strongly encourage everyone who doesn't decide to just stop supporting altogether (which is also a perfectly good idea) to do this. The placeholders don't cost you anything different no matter how many he does if you limit the number of charges per month to only one.

Woodrobin

Totally agree. I came for the story, but I've stayed for the entertainment :)

Rayce Royal

This is last placeholder. Your gonna get FIRED!

Thomas Cash

A decent sized book is 100,000 words FYI. His first, chapters 1-10 came in at just under 80,000. In ten chapter sets, the next four slowly ramped up to 177,000 for chapters 41-50. At that point I did the conversion to epubs in 5 chapter groups. The smallest has been 125,000 (61-65) the largest 210,000 (96-100). After chapter 115 I stopped grouping them and just added each new chapter into an anthology of them all. 01-115 was 2,470,000 words. So that hits at 21,000 per chapter so he should be working on chapter 208 not 171!

Troy S. Cash

Actually it was labour who destroyed the nhs it was Blair and brown who destroyed it try doing research first.

Jim lynch

Tell us your address dickface so I can ram my foot in your nose you keyboard warrior little bitch.

Jim lynch

Surtur it’s time for you to stop sucking teflers cock we all know you love it but it’s getting silly now.

Jim lynch

Life threatening ha ha ha your an idiot.

Jim lynch

Then you are a mindless cunt with zero intelligence.

Jim lynch

Yep he’s a real cunt now

Jim lynch

Get off your knees or do you like blowing tellers tiny ( ? ) cock.

Jim lynch

He’s full of shit he went from a £1,500 a month job to £9,000 and is struggling. what a lying piece of dog shit tefler must be. I’m English and would dream of having the money this moaning twat gets and I know he’s lying about needing two payments per month I do believe it’s illegal and I’m in contact with Patreon about it right now.

Jim lynch

He's over 4 million words. So at 10,000 per chapter (which is 26% larger than the chapters he started this saga with), he'd be at chapter 436. At 15,000 per that's chapter 290. At 20,000 per that's chapter chapter 218. That's a lot more lost revenue than he's gained by these placeholders. I wish he'd drop back to 10-12k, then 171 would have been a full chapter and he'd start gaining.

Troy S. Cash

I find the comments almost as entertaining as TSM. Evilebob has added a level of satire that has been great. So, please keep it up. 😂

JB

Well I am giving my membership a "placeholder" and will be back in a few months. Maybe we will have a full chapter by then. And 10 Placeholders....

Dustin Arnold

You would think that people this irate would just cancel their account. But no, they come back every time Tefler releases a chapter and cry like babies. "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." For all I know, Tefler is fit as a fiddle and has been on holiday in perfect health. But I don't care because it's only a couple of $'s. If you don't like the situation, cancel the account. But for goodness sakes quit taking up so much time with your sniveling comments and leave. The rest of us would like to talk about the story and not have to read your blubbering. PS. Don't forget to change your diaper on the way out of the door.

Joco Hobo

He’s a comedian now. First telling us that he’s sorry.. good joke. And then follow that up with another joke of “multiple chapters per month”. Hilarious…

Calvin Martin

Surfer, Tef has cancer?!?

It's dum. Over and over again

🎉 Announcing the September Psychic Kyth’faren Predictions Contest Winners! 🎉 Fellow seers and soothsayers, the results are in, and it’s time to crown not one, but two Psychic Kyth’farens this month! After careful deliberation (and a generous helping of placeholders), we have our winners: 🏆 Congratulations to Hendrix Morton and Perry Carruthers! 🏆 Both Hendrix and Perry nailed their predictions with 2 placeholders and a medical excuse. While Hendrix leaned toward a family vacation and Perry gave us a fascinating (if a bit exaggerated) medical diagnosis, both had the general theme correct—and for that, we declare it a tie! Hendrix, you were spot on with the placeholders, and though the excuse wasn’t a vacation, the timing was impeccable! Perry, your creativity with the detailed medical condition was a masterpiece in itself—while Tefler didn’t quite suffer from the gallstone-induced apocalypse you predicted, he did deliver the medical excuse! 🎖 Honorable Mention: Michael Pritchett And now, for a special runner-up mention… Michael Pritchett! Your prediction that Tefler was “doing everything he can to get the chapters to us” must be true—surely—because, after all, we did get placeholders, and those take time, effort, and a bit of planning! So, while no new chapters arrived, we must all remain patient and courteous, as you so wisely suggested. 😉 Thank you to all our participants, and remember, the placeholders may continue, but so too does our Psychic Kyth’faren contest! Stay tuned for next month’s predictions—may your foresight guide you to victory!

Evilebob

The most entertaining part of this has become finding new accounts to block each month with their outlandish comments. I know podcasters that would do nearly anything for this fervent of an audience to still be there despite not getting nearly a year’s worth of content yet paying for it. Most podcast audiences would have left long ago. I just wish this creator would treat his fanbase better.

If you need $16K a month to keep the lights on I’d suggest looking into LED bulbs.

As a member, you are entitled to ALL posted chapters. When you rejoin in 6 months, you can download all the posted chapters you missed. But you won't be notified while you're not a member.

This Old Man

I don't know why many people complain. Its your decision to pay. Just change your payment plan or cancel and come back a while later. If Tefler catches back up then all is good (which he has done before, although backlog was not as big then). If not then you have lost maybe 20£? That is simply not a large amount. Not worth it for me to become enraged about. Personally I see that as money for a hobby. And other hobbies are way more expensive. @Tefler, I wish you best of luck and a full recovery.

restless

He's a flat out liar who resorts back to this same tired formula at every opportunity,...he doesn't have a single health issue except for a lying tongue and soul!!!

Greg Hill

2. It's not the slowness of new writing. Certainly it can be understood that illness can interfere with creativity and concentration. It's the "write one, charge ahead for two more, get even further behind" pattern that is upsetting people. If he was CHARGING for what he was WRITING no one would be upset. If he'd charged ahead in a bad spot, then caught up, then a few months later charged one ahead, then caught up, very few would have been more than mildly annoyed. But EVERY time over the past several chapters, he has delivered one chapter and simultaneously added TWO more to the backlog. Never catching up, never even reducing the chapter backlog, only ever expanding it. That is just beyond the patience of most reasonable people.

Woodrobin

1. We have Tefler's word only in regards: the health condition. Normally, I'd give Tefler the benefit of the doubt, but charging for 10.5 more chapters than have been delivered stretches good faith.

Woodrobin

Hate to be the one to break the news to you Surtur but none of us are getting out of this alive... Tef is not the only one battling illness. It is amazing that more than a few still cling to faith that he will continue. When I started supporting Tef he was years into telling his tale. Great storyteller but terrible communicater and worse businessman. Simple fact is most people don't like to be lied to by someone they really want to support.

Keepit simple

You're going to attempt to write multiple chapters per month when you can't even turn out a completed chapter per month now? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Tyler Derkearmian

So, if I were to drop my membership until say six months and check back in, will I be notified of the chapters still owed to me? ASKIN FOR A FRIEND WHO I OWE $20.00 to!

Jeff Combes

Here's the thing. Sometimes we're faced with our own mortality, and have to prioritize. Having been there, I understand. Some of us will appreciate that you take the time to produce content, in your circumstance. Other will bitch and whine, because they are the masses that 'bread and circuses' were invented for. Be true true yourself, and give us what your health and circumstance allow.

Surtur

My creativity or lack there of is irrelevant to this discussion. I haven't charged you and hundreds of others for a product which I've promised and failed to deliver upon for months now. Despite the fact he only posted half a chapter, let's be generous and suggest that he's 10 chapters behind now. By current Patreon metrics, he's now 67 THOUSAND dollars behind budget and each month, he's been getting further and further into the red each month. If you're ok with fronting money for products never delivered, be a champ and fund everyone else's contributions. If you're ok with stumping up that money for everyone else and putting your money where your mouth is, then I'll concede your point. But until then, you can stop with your strawman arguments.

Korzic

-- Perhaps Joe and Joel should take their bat and ball and go home, ... bye bye TSM, at least for a while, ... check back in six months to a year, ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

WTF dude, who are you to tell people what they have and haven't done. STFU you elitist little punk

Mike Remaly

Shhhhhh. Don't tell anyone this simple trick to double your Patreon income.

Joel Wyrick

You must be new here. Every month it further and further behind. Be a man, for a moment, and realize that at some point you have to stand on your own and not rely on $20k a month from strangers that you're ripping off

Mike Remaly

Now we are 10.5 stories behind and it is growing faster than the stories coming out. It is flat out ripping people off. The nerve to release half a chapter and add 2 more place holders. Something we were all told was going to end. But it’s worse than ever. How far before the suck ups start to compline? 20, 50? Never? I’ve been sick for almost a week and yet still went to work today. It wasn’t fun. Sitting around writing is one thing a writer can do anywhere at anytime. Half a story and 1 placeholder would have been one thing, but the nerve to do 2, wow!!!

Joe Waldvogel

The latest member of the P.T. Barnum memoriam level membership!

Bob M

And what creativity have you produced, that entertained the masses? Who are you to complain about the lack of 'production' from someone facing a life-threatening illness? Have you cured cancer? Is his lack of productivity directly related to some miracle you produced? I hope you, or someone you cherish, isn't similarly affected @Tipp McClure, because I shudder to think how you would treat them.

Surtur

WTF dude, have you known anyone facing a life-threatening illness? Did you demand them to work more? STFU, you entitled little bitch!

Surtur

Gregory A. Georgiou

Surtur

This gifted writer is battling health issues. Be a man, for a moment, and recognize that.

Surtur

He posted less than 3 in the last 6 months.

Tipp McClure

You're up to 10.5 chapters you owe us. This is out of hand.

Tipp McClure

Plan to post multiple chapters. Haha. Bruh, you aren't even posting 1 a month these days
