It has its charm, and I like "Back to the Future 2", "Akira" and "Miami Nights 1984" as much as the next guy; but there's only so much designs and themes retro-futurism can allow, thus somewhat restricting the creative freedom and making artists bound by the style. It's always more interesting to see artists unleashing their own vision, not imitating other works of art.
