Full Of It #311 - Ghost Stories

Happy Halloween, puffins! For our final October episode of 2024, why not sit down with the curtains drawn, a candle lit and a hot brew in hand as I sit by the fire in my castle and read some ghost stories submitted by you! 👻
Late listening to this... but not me listening to this on a dark dingy morning on my own in my office in a huge creepy victorian building knowing later when I have to leave in the dark I will be sprinting not dawdling down to the porters lodge to be let out. Definitely going to avoid having to go in the basements at all costs!

Also loved the Halloween Shopping video!
I’m a buyer for Sainsburys (Home) and I’m just waiting for an opening on the seasonal team so I can apply/move over and buy Halloween etc. 🥰

Only just started listening during spooky season. Looking forward to seeing what the pod is like on a normal week. Hope all is well!

Absolutely unrelated but I simply must have this fulfilled in the comments section of our next pod. I had a bizarre moment trying to speak Polish with my boyfriend when he used the loan word watersports.
God bless him he loves sailing, and for the plural of watersports in English it hasn't quite clicked for Poles, so he said ''watersportsy' (unnecessary Polish pluralisation of a plural word, like how they call the hummus section of a supermarket humussy [bussy anyone?])
Instead of being well-adjusted and simply correcting him or laughing I immediately came out with ''WATERSPORTS'' in this bizarre cadence and tone. It took me literally days to realise,I had in my head combined the iconic quote ''and he wants watersports in... 30 minutes (GRIMACE)'' from the delightful call girls documentary with your impression of Liz Truss' ''PORK markets''.
You've obviously psychologically damaged me but I absolutely need to hear you say the word WATERSPORTS in the tone and cadence of PORK markets after that.

Loved this pod! (Even though during my first listen I was listening whilst driving in the dark down country lanes - kept checking the back seat)
I find the idea of time slips so fascinating! Is there enough to go at for an entire time slip pod?
There’s a street in Liverpool that’s well known for its multiple stories of time slips - really eerie!

Hi gerls! I’m the Leonard with the kitchen chairs. Just wanted to answer your question about the camera, Lymp - we had a nanny cam in the family room for our dog, but that was it, and it unfortunately was not set to record sound.
Also, about the weird entity with me, my friend thinks this has to do with my job. I work with sexually violent predators, and she thinks I sometimes bring some of the energy back with me. However, she said I have a strong group of spirit guides, and also that I have a lot of positive light around me (?), and that these things keep me safe. I choose to believe her.
Thanks for including my story! 🥰

Hi Lymp, I hope your Halloween party was a hit! Loved the costumes.
I'm very much part of the group of people who don't believe in anything supernatural whilst not wanting to be proven wrong. If ghosts do exist I'd like them to stay away until I become one myself please and thank you.
I really liked what you said about coincidences, that they can mean you're in the right path. I've never thought of them that way. For me it's always been about the laws of probability: the amount of things - as in anything at all - that happen at any given moment anywhere on the universe is so massive that two things are bound to coincide at some point. But now I like your way better.

It's Andrew, the movie theater booth worker. I looked up something about anyone dying, and of course, I never found anything. I just did a quick Google search again, and there was nothing. The theater is a part of a different company, so it's hard to find any info, but you are right; that should have been big news. So when I started working upstairs, I had already been working at the theater for about a year, and the projectionist would also talk about creepy stuff that would happen upstairs. Other weird stuff happened to me, but I think I was in my head after the knocks, and my name was whispered. It's funny; I still have strange dreams about working at the theater and spooky stuff happening. I usually rush around the booth, and I run into a dark Samara-like figure, or the lights are all out, and I just feel something near me.

I howled when you suggested the white people in the ghost bus might just have been LARPers who don’t get out much 💀
These were all fab! I’d love to do the same thing each Halloween going forward.
I’ve never had anything mega supernatural happen to me but the one minor thing I still think about is that one time I was at our uni house and washing up in our very long narrow kitchen with the fridge behind me. Narrow in that nobody could have been stood/walked behind me without me having to move. Everyone else in the house was sat in the living room watching telly. All of a sudden I was struck directly on the back of the head. And when I looked round to see what it was there was a tiny toy alarm clock, that lived on the top of the fridge, now on the floor. I have no idea how it could have launched off the fridge like that on its own. It’s the one unexplained thing that’s happened in my life.

This podcast provoked a memory of my brothers imaginary friend as a child. His ‘friend’ was ‘John the pilot’ John was only ever with him at home. My brother would say that he died whilst flying a plane. He would say he wasn’t scared of him and ‘he was looking after him’. It turns out our great uncle was a pilot in a Lancaster bomber who was shot down over the Channel in WWII. He was called John. My brother was very young at the time and wouldn’t have known this and it’s only when he told my parents that my dad looked like he’d seen a ghost. It’s really odd as the house we lived in was also on the flight path of the German bombers that would raid the Castle Bromwich Spitfire factory (there was a bombhole at the end of the road) and when we moved John ‘didn’t come with us’. My dad believed it was uncle John ‘protecting us’ from the German bombers that ended his life. Make of that what you will.

I'm so glad I'm not home alone listening to this podcast. These stories are so creepy. Somehow the same dulcet tones that lull me into a cozy, relaxed state can also completely freak me out. Thankfully I can count on your humor to distract me. I enjoyed your anecdotes about your Mom and Gram but am a bit concerned about this repressed Santa memory of yours! What could that possibly have been about, d'ya think? 🖤💕

Hi Nymph,
This isn't a true ghost story, but it’s a memorable experience from my primary school days. A group of Year 5 girls played a prank on the younger girls in Kindergarten and Year 1 over the course of a week. During recess and lunch, two of the older girls would take the younger students into the toilets and explain the lore of Bloody Mary. They would trick the younger girls into saying "Bloody Mary" three times, another girl would already be hiding in a cubicle out of sight and slam a toilet cubicle door and flush the toilet, scaring the younger girls so they would run out. They repeated this enough times that some of the girls became afraid to use the toilets and, on a few occasions, ended up wetting their pants. After a week of this, the teachers finally got involved after the students where explaining what happen, I can't remember if they caught the girls but at same the principle said stop it.

I was the author of the scary V and so sorry for calling you a cheapo lol! I'm so glad it gave you so much pause I think about it all the time. I can confirm that the paper V letter was gathered from the bottom left of the table and pushed to the top left. And exactly as you thought we were all wondering what it meant and what it was trying to spell, the moment we realized it was an arrow was chilling. And sorry for the spelling error it was meant to read "good luck with the ghosties " but perhaps you are right and that, that was his villian origin story 😂
