Nick Studies
Added 2020-10-13 11:19:40 +0000 UTCI felt like I needed a lot more practice drawing Nick after yesterday’s upload.
Whenever I draw fanart I instinctively can only copy what I see directly in front of me. I could never accurately portray a character in my own style because I’d inevitably end up mimicking the style of the original movie/game/etc. Only in cases where the original medium is so far removed from my own, like in the case of Krystal, or perhaps LooneyTunes, is where I could feel comfortable drawing the character.
I’ve received quite a number of comments on yesterdays upload. Some constructive, some nice, some just plain rude. For whatever reason the bad ones always stick to me the most. No matter how many compliments I get, I can still feel incredibly down after a single negative one.
Today has been awful. But I want to better myself so that I don’t have to feel like this in the future.
So here is a small page filled with sketches I did studying other artists‘ portrayals of Nick. I know I generally don’t upload sketches, let alone studies. But I hope you don’t mind and will maybe even enjoy this break from my status quo :)
