Hello everyone,
I am happy to say we have now, for the most part, put the public demo behind us. We still have a few changes to make thanks to feedback from those of you who have given us your thoughts, and we still have to do the web build for release on itch.io and Newgrounds. Once that is done this month, while Jr.X cleans up the code a little, we are looking forward to moving on to the next stage of development, which we are going to talk about today.
As you can see above, we have our road map for the next six months here at Jessika’s Curse, which features six key things that we will be adding to the game. They aren’t the only features we will be adding, as we are hoping to do other small additions as well, but how much of that we get done depends on how much time we have.
For now though, let’s just focus on the six things represented on the image:
Amalia and Melaina - The party is getting a priestess and a mage; the largest task on this list is adding the two remaining party characters to the game. In addition to battle sprites, they also need sixteen new sex animations to bring them in line with Jess and Mouse.
Object of Interest Expansion - We already have a bunch of these in the game, but so far we have kept it quite basic. With the expansion we will not only be adding more of these objects, but they’ll also now have randomly determined outcomes, including negative ones such as traps. We’ll also be adding a feature that allows you to choose which girl will interact with the object.
Equipment System - While Jessika and Mouse already have their trusty equipment, there is currently no way in the game to swap it out for new shinier gear. We’ll be adding that function, as well as placing a few extra pieces, including accessories, in chests scattered across the Wyldwoods for you to hunt down and equip.
Brothel and Kinks - We’ll also be adding a new location to Venkmar - the Brothel, staffed by previous revealed NPC Madam Ava. This will allow you to reduce the lust of a character without paying a cost, at the risk of incurring a negative character trait called Kinks. We are still ironing the kinks (heh) out of this system, but will be talking about it at a later date.
Two New Enemies - The goblin and the mushroom will be gaining some new allies in the Wyldwoods with the addition of the bandit and the wolf, two new enemy types that will be facing off against our heroines. They’ll be getting battle sprites, and we’ll also be adding four sex animations as well for each girl and the bandit.
So that is what we are going to be doing over the next six months. We’ll be doing WIP releases in between now and the end of the year, but at this time I cannot say how many, or when. If you are wondering why it will take the long, the answer is really the animation. We only have one animator who is working part time, and he has to do twenty animations for the next build alone. Creating the assets, rigging the sprites, and then constructing the scene takes days for just one animation, so it is a huge amount of work. As things improve, I am hoping to be able to hire Sommelier full time, as well as get him an assistant or two, which will speed up this process.
I’ll leave it at that for today. I hope you all can find at least one, if not a few things on that list to be excited about. For backers, we’ll be sharing more of Sommy’s work on Amalia and Mel, and we’ll also be running polls on the sex animations for those of you at the voter tier very soon.
