"... The Deathclaw Gene-Splicing Procedure went remarkably well. Our chosen candidate had finally carried to term and the crossbreeding experiment had exceeded all expectations. However, the results were far from anticipated. As it appeared, the copious amounts of amniotic fluid from the chosen surrogate had an alarming effect on our medical staff in charge of delivering the hybrid. It was such an odd phenomenon. To keep it from spreading, the room was sealed shut - we can't risk another hazard... Not after last month's botfly incident.. *Sigh* Anyway... Before long, our assigned midwife and 3 of her nurses had succumbed... And our candidate had perished as well.
Not all is lost... We've gain not one, not two, but eight Deathclaw hybrids... Though not as fierce as their progenitors or in any way advanced as our Synths, this is a marvelous step towards our preservation. We may be able to engineer the perfect expendable defense against the Brotherhood of Steel... My main concern is that we would need more subjects to continue this process... There are a few settlements not far from here... Hhmmm..."
