I think the reason the panzer crew members were got is a case of mistaken identity. Their uniform looks pretty similar to the SS at a passing glance and the Soviets didn’t have any uniform snobs to go “um actually” to them. Similar thing happened to panzer crews during the liberation of France by the Free French and Resistance members

2023-10-25 16:14:07 +0000 UTCAll fixtures and aspects of imperialism are cursed, except for the fact that the British are a client state of the US now. That's just funny and you should remind every conservative British person you meet that we hang our junior partners out to dry on a regular basis.

2023-10-18 21:47:23 +0000 UTCGood series. Nicely covered major themes, including pivotal points and historical landmarks. Fluent narrative. I liked how narrative avoided overspreading and missing the pace.

2023-10-09 14:36:45 +0000 UTCIn the 1930’s arc of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure the Nazi character survives to later die at Stalingrad, picturing him in der kessel lightened the mood for me

2023-09-28 22:56:58 +0000 UTCWonderful series. Always love how well you work in the eccentricities of these battles (like the Soviet Centaurs) with the larger narrative. Now off to re-listen to Pavlov’s house…

2023-09-28 01:32:04 +0000 UTCI think that is fundamentally what appeals to them. Look at the last few neo-nazi mass shooters, hated themselves, hated the world more, and figured carnage was the most satisfying conclusion to their pathetic existences.

2023-09-27 16:41:39 +0000 UTCI almost, for a second felt bad for them. And then I thought about my concentration camp/partisan fighter grandpa. And all my family that was murdered. So, no. They didn’t suffer enough.

2023-09-27 16:32:58 +0000 UTCI just crushed this series on my last work shift. I've been a big fan for a couple years now. I miss some of the older hosts. But the trash future crew is also good. I want to see Roz from well there's your problem so a guest host.

2023-09-26 20:22:06 +0000 UTCIncredible series. If you have the opportunity to go to Vietnam, I highly recommend it, I go for work. The people there are great, and most interactions I've had, are positive. Even when it comes to discussing the war. A perspective that was shared with me regarding that, was along the lines of 'well, we were fighting our revolution for liberation, much like you Americans did' also, 'well, we won.' The Vietnamese seem more concerned with hating China than anything. 'We've been fighting them for 5000 years'

2023-09-26 18:39:02 +0000 UTCUnbelievable series. I don't generally ever relisten to any podcast or audiobook but I am certain I will need to relisten to this series just to fully get my mind around everything that has been told here.

2023-09-26 03:18:56 +0000 UTCI appreciate the depiction of human misery endured during the battle while making it clear the fundamental genocidal nature of the Nazi armies fighting in it. It's a lesson for any modern day would-be modern fascist or hyper-nationalist--your worldview is built on destruction, and inevitably it will destroy you

2023-09-26 02:53:50 +0000 UTCIf anyone needs a visual reference for how the battle unfolded, Timeghost's WW2 series produced a week-by-week synopsis of Stalingrad. https://youtu.be/Z0zJ0lPq1UU

2023-09-26 01:10:00 +0000 UTCAmazing work Joe. In my uneducated opinion this is up there with hardcore history's ghosts of the ossfront. Very glad I found out about the donk cast through the bastards episode you did on Pat Tillman. I also read enemy at the gates as a teen because Im a huge nerd like Nate. Also highly recommend Gods Go Begging by Alfredo Vea. One of the most moving Vietnam novels by a veteran I've read.
