Psychology has a problem, which is that the early people who were wrong and dumb showed up after we started writing everything down. And it took till the 1960s for psychological researchers to start adhering to ethics (which also means a lot of studies before then are bad science in addition to being reprehensible).

They actually did an episode where they touched on three batshit espionage/military ideas - Acoustic Kitty and the Bat Bomb were two of them. The other was Operation "Who...Me?" where they would give Chinese kids cans of super stink spray to spray Japanese soldiers so they smelled horrendous and lost morale from people saying they shit their pants!
