I have some buddies that were in the Coast Guard. I was amazed that they deployed and at their jobs. It is very interesting to know that they operate in international waters all the time but it is just not known

My dad, then CO of the USCGC Ocracoke based in Puerto Rico, was supposed to be deployed to the Persian Gulf during the 1st Iraq War. But it was called off. I think the longest deployment was a couple months in Haiti after Hurricane Hugo.
