Having heard this episode, I really want to hear either this podcast or Well There’s Your Problem (with Joe featured, of course) talk about aircraft carrier incidents, like the bombing of the USS Franklin and the subsequent fire in 1945, or the fires aboard the Oriskany, Forrestal and Enterprise that occurred in 1966, 1967 and 1969.

Great episode. This was one of the incidents that lead to the first fleet-wide "safety stand-down" after a slew of really banging accidents that included this, an F-18 accidentally hitting an Indian Fishing vessel with an anti-ship missile, another plane dropping a bomb on a US cruiser, a picnic area getting bombed in California, and others I can't remember.
