What episode about Utah are they talking about at the beginning?

A.D. London

@26:18 This is the moment I fell parasocially in love with Joe. πŸ˜„ I snorted beer out of my nose & nearly died. New Patreon & enjoying all the bonus content. Thanks, y'all!

What must I do to know why Liam was shot? I need to know!

Eric Adams (German)

The new Lord of the Rings series was pretty good.

Matt

If anyone is curious, the first spear was the man at the rightmost position in the first line of a maniple, and was the person the entire formation was then built around. It was the position of the senior centurion for the maniple, thus making Virenus basically the sergeant major of the legion.

The Evil Cub

New to the Paetron, didn't realize these were about pretty much my favorite show ever! Very thrilled. And yes, Pullo is basically the ur-E4.

The Evil Cub

Please do continue these!

Pol R

Yeah I meant junior in the sense of his responsibilities (and class status within Roman society) not his service time, but you're right, it's not a clean comparison anyway.

That’s the $50 tier.

This is hilarious, please keep going

Ed Stewart

Seriously. I really want more episodes about Rome. Y'all are fantastic and this is pitch-perfect material for the Donkey treatment. Do we patrons need to toss you more dollars to get more Rome episodes?

Philip Kahn-Pauli

I love this show so much. I have rewatched it I don’t know how many times.

TC Green

That was fabulous guys. Just amazing. I loved Rome, the series l as so the much duller modern city, and that Romecast was a freaking piece of art. If you guys promise to do the full series I up my subscription today!

Christian Carrillo

MORE ROMECAST! This has been one of my favorite of the alt LLBD sub series. Do more dawg, do more.

Philip Coppersmith

Imagine the horror of a tank-nerd and rome-nerd hybrid.

A first spear is in command of the most senior cohort, which is a battalion equivalent, and can act as deputy commander of the whole legion. They are by no means junior officers. They were ranked lower as leaders who were members of the senatorial class. This lead to the modern idea of centurions being junior officers or ncos. Roman ranks are not really comparable to the modern idea of ranks and grades.

Do you know what would have made Ancient Rome better? Tanks.

Nice choice!

Andrew Martin

I must know how Liam was shot

Ansen Hultgren

My son and I have watched Rome at least a dozen times. I wish hbo would have made another season.

Joe Halloran

Next wtyp bonus episode "Liam getting shot"

Jack

Good choice

Elder Dog

Personally my favorite episode has been the 47 Ronin. Nick's bit about the bidet guy being a US army vet lives rent free in my head.

Jordan Y Clementi

Definitely gotta do more of these. This was a lot of fun

Svennie

I enjoyed this! However, I feel like anyone who hasn’t watched the show might get a bit lost, as there wasn’t much concrete description of the plot.

The Token Detergent Rinser (British)

Rome is one of my favorite shows, I really liked this podcast episode and I hope yall do the whole series. Also, thats a top 5 episode title.

Sean RD

One of the best HBO shows cut down in it's prime because of the low budget and before-its-timeness

Achillesnick

salve brothers edit: as to vorenus's rank, centurions were junior officers - promoted from the ranks - responsible for about 80 men, ranked in order of which cohort they led. he's later made prefect, which is like a kind of staff colonel.
