2021-07-18 11:04:40 +0000 UTChey German listener here I really love this episode cause it's teaching me a lot more than my history class in a public school To the Namibian genocide; like 3 months ago the German parliament finally recognised the shit they did against the herero, nama and many more as a genocide and apologised

2021-07-18 01:10:42 +0000 UTCOtto von Bismarck could make a good subject for an episode. Also can confirm the weird German names not just in center Texas, but in southeast Texas in Houston as well.

2021-07-17 01:25:21 +0000 UTCBeen listening to this show for a year but only recently became patron. I am from Mexico(northern border with Texas) so I can confirm Pancho Villa status as a folk hero.

2021-07-16 03:50:55 +0000 UTCConcerning those anti-Chinese pogroms during the Mexican Revolution, check out Wikipedia’s entry on the “Torreón Massacre”, which took place 13-15 May 1911, following the official end of the Siege of Torreón. The degree to which Villa and/or his forces were culpable isn’t quite as clear-cut, but then again, I’m no expert when it comes to Torreón history….
