I don't think we were taught much about this in my New Mexican history classes. In fairness, the lessons start all the way back to the Anasazi and covers a good amount of the region before the Spanish show up and they switch gears to "Here's how the Spanish fuck everything up" And actually, the only thing I clearly remember being taught about the state in the 1800's was the Trail of Tears.

2021-07-05 14:40:38 +0000 UTCI've always liked history. I was born and raised in Texas. Went to a Texas university and got a degree in history. Took several Texas history classes from 8th grade into college. I even took a History of Mexico class my senior year of undergrad. I have learned more about Poncho Villa and the surrounding situation listening to this one podcast episode than I have in my entire life.
