regarding a point joe mentions at the very end of the episode. south korea has a bit of a history with movies that have a large impact on official government policy. the guy who made squid game directed "the crucible" which cast light on a particularly severe case of molestation at a school for deaf children. it reopened prosecution and brought the perpetrators to justice, as well as gave impetus for new tougher anti-abuse legislation.
