People weren't meant to go in the water
Added 2024-06-03 18:00:01 +0000 UTCBig ups to Hellripper, who's song about the nuckelavee on their album Warlocks Grim and Withered Hags really helped get through the creative block I've had with them and make something truly awful.
Hippos are horrifying, too. I love every sort of animal, but nothing's ever getting me to take one step toward a body of water I suspect might have a hippo in it. I do like how fancy the plural of hippopotamus looks like it should pronounced, though.
As for nereids, they're the ultimate embodiment of the way that any sea, no matter how placed, can full heel-turn and go murderous in the blink of an eye.

So glad I could share Hellripper with you! I am still so excited to use the Nuckelavee! This is my first time DM’ing and your monsters have been an inspiration. We just finished a haunted church dungeon where monsters from your undead book were a big hit. Longtime D&D players and DMs compliment how dynamic and interesting the fights have been. The players are level 6, not quite ready to sick this nasty beast on them!
