My newest post brings up something I find genuinely concerning...photographers purposely turning off the shutter sound on their cameras. As someone who’s also worked behind the lens, I know this isn’t a default setting. It’s a conscious choice, and one that feels unnecessary and questionable in a modeling environment.
When the camera is silent, I have no idea when photos are being taken. It throws off the flow of posing and can feel sneaky. Even if there’s no bad intent, it removes a layer of trust. From now on, I’ll be asking if the shutter sound is on. Models deserve to know when they’re being photographed- period.
