Aaaaand we are back! Thank you so much for your patience and support, dear readers. I'm recovered and doing well; Katalepsis should be back to normal now for the foreseeable future!
And here we are, on the cursed and spooky chapter number of arc 24. Gosh, we sure are getting deep with this one. I'm still determined not to split arc 24 into two arcs, this really is all one coherent narrative movement, but it might end up even longer than I expected. I think we're past the halfway point now, I would be surprised if we weren't, but ... well, I'm prepared for anything! This is the climax of the whole of Book One, so, I'm willing to give it whatever it needs.
Ready? Good. We plunge once more into the darkened halls and echoing screams of the dream of Cygnet Asylum.
(Also! I want to highlight a couple of really fun pieces of fanart this week, for those who do not frequent the discord. We have some of the main cast doing some Scooby Doo cosplay (by Brack), and a full character design sheet for Twil (by yootie)!)

Thank you so very much! Really glad you enjoyed reading this one! The hug was very satisfying to write, finally re-solidifying Heather and Lozzie's relationship, and even including Evelyn, too! Raine returning covered in blood was actually quite predictable, haha! Yeah, I think that was a good call. The sword hilt is odd; it might turn into a pen, or perhaps into something else. We'll have to see what happens when it passes into Sevens' hands. As for the six other Heathers, perhaps they're confined somewhere very specific to stop them reuniting with her ... maybe somewhere we've already seen. And hey, thank you! I'm looking forward to the next chapter, too!

Lozzie and Heather hugging was heartwarming, and Lozzie 'transmitting' the hug to Evee through Praem was even better!!! It was so cute! Now, regarding Raine coming back drenched in blood, I was expecting that. After all we did have to inaugurate the machete now, didn't we? Also, I'm pretty certain that the sword hilt the King in Yellow gave Heather will turn into a pen. Or an actual sword from the time when the King was still human. He may be ancient, but I'm led to believe that, among the many eldritch beings Outside, he's one of the youngest. That is, in terms of a place where time is a bit wonky. Finally, I was expecting that office to contain the other six Heathers. It felt like the right thing, although yeah, Narratively speaking it wouldn't have fit. Too easy. To get her powers and actual body back Heathy'll have to go through a great trial! All in all, lovely chapter, can't wait for tomorrow!

Long-term foreshadowing paying off after all this time. Professor Stout was set up all the way back at the beginning, and here he is, lost Outside!
