in the books he is a pychopath, alicia is correct in her assements assuming he is still portrayed as a pyschopath at this point. later the showrunners really change him into a sociopath, whom can actually feel emotions

2 season in and Alicia still doesn't understand Dexter's character. He very much is human, feels guilt, sadness and other emotions but simply doesnt understand them. he isnt a robot everyone has feelings even the most messed up individuals.

as someone in IT, can confirm tech knows when you are planning to replace it and it will rebel. I keep a mutilated motherboard on hand as an example so all the other machines know what will happen if they misbehave.

"This was a long one, a lot of discussion, a lot of yapping."
Actually I think it was just the several breaks they had to take because of Alicia's model troubles.

There's no such thing as a human being without "feelings" it's just not an actual thing. People with Borderline Personality Disorder and Autism (both of which Dexter almost certainly has) often have low empathy and struggle to relate to the way their emotions work but they do *have* them. Empathy is also a learned skill, you can practice at it. Dexter has always leaned into his "Emotionlessness" because it's a compensation behavior but all the things that happen in the show far have been causing him to decompensate and his actual emotions are becoming more front and center in his life.
