Poll - Serum's origins

Where does the serum comes from? Who made it? What is it made of?
This poll is multiple-choice, divided in 2 main parts :
- How did Alex get the serum
- What is the serum made out of?

Something I'd like to add eitherway to the game's prologue would be a male-performance-enhancing pill that Alex would take sometime before the FMG scene, which would explain the ungodly schlong he has in the Chapter 1 sex scene.

PART 1: How did Alex get the serum?

Alex the Scientist:

Alex could be rewritten as something more of a chemist who made a breakthrough.

I suppose that in scenario, Alex would have a deal with someone that gives him access to a lab to make his own experiments. Doesn't sound plausible for him to have the equipment in the apartment to formulate a serum without some serious backing.

I would imagine that, to some extent, he's doing his experiment on the down-low as he would be reprimanded for something like this.

Pro:
This solution would simplify the story, if I decide to remove all the pharmaceutical/corporate stuff and focus on, say, the girls and the serum's side-effects.
Con:
The injector wouldn't make as much sense in the situation (unless it's borrow equipment), and maybe Alex would go for the classic serum in a vial/bottle.

A gift from Alex's friend:

In the version 1.0 of the game, Alex is getting the serum and injector from his friend Johan (a private-joke related to the author of StrongGirls).
I could rework/improve the original idea, change Johan's name, give him a clearer backstory... For instance, why did he send the serum and injector to Alex? Was it for safe-keeping, or to invite Alex to test the serum?

Pro:
Would work with the 'Murder-mystery' story-line.
Con:
Would not mesh with Option 2.

Unexpected delivery from unknown sender:

Alex just receives a box containing the serum and the injector. No idea where it's from or who it's from. Maybe Alex will find out later!

Pro:
Alex doesn't NEED to find out. Maybe he never finds out and we just accept that it happened without resolving the mystery. Or maybe there's a cryptic letter.
Con:
A little too basic for my tastes, the serum might as well not have any origin at all.

Abandonned package:

Alex finds the package randomly in an alley. Maybe it fell off a truck? Maybe it was stolen? Maybe the original recipient wants it back?

Pro:
Could mesh well with the 'Rival' story-line. Maybe the Rival was the intended recipient of the serum and will go after Alex to get back their property.
Con:
Would not mesh with Option 2.

PART 2: What is the serum made out of?

Earthly-composition:

The serum is made from reagents virtually anyone can acquire with money, although some components may be fictitious. Could be that the serum is entirely based on plants or fungi.
It could mesh with the idea of subtle mutations (green skin, coughing spores...) with increased serum-usage.

DNA-based:

Maybe the serum is made from animal DNA, or even human DNA. Maybe it's a super-charged mixture of all the strongest creatures on Earth.
It could mesh with the idea of subtle mutations (fangs, claws, pointy ears) with increased serum-usage.

Super-science:

The serum is made from Super-science. Radiations, unstable particles, nano-tech. This would not mesh as much with the idea of Alex creating the serum in his apartment.

Magic/Alchemy:

Straight-up magic. The serum is like a potion made from a ritual, maybe it involves an ancient relic, and without said relic, no more serum!

Otherworldly:

Alien blood from Area 51? Maybe some reagent found on the Moon or on Mars? Maybe it's a symbiote that bonds with the user's blood and it communicates with the user...
