Purple Dream: Models

Really important piece of progress here. The 3D models.

The original 3D models that were made back when I released the first few teasers had a bunch of problems, and even though still went ahead and worked with them for a bit, they ultimately had too many issues and areas that could improve for me to keep moving forward with them as they were. So, I took them back to the workshop and have been slowly improving them since. The improvements boil down to, tweaks to body proportions, adjustments to the general look of the body, and topology improvements. The big issue here development-wise was the topology improvements, as making changes to the topology will break all kinds of things.

The gist of it is, most things had to essentially be made from scratch, aside from the models themselves. Starting with the models, the topology of the character models has now improved a great deal, and I am now happy with their general look and how they work with the rigs. Clothing that used 3D models needed to be adjust and tweaked to work with new body proportions, and I am mostly done with this as well, just missing fixing clothing that I am either not too sure if I will add, or clothing that is still a WIP.

Then there is everything else, which all had to be dumped and needed to be made from scratch. The rigging of all models, which is mostly characters and clothing, 2D overlay clothing such as something like thigh-highs, a bunch of lewd event stuff that is placed as 2D overlays on the characters themselves, most character textures, etc. A bunch of stuff needed to be made from scratch. Some of it is done, but there are still some things that I have yet to do.

Not everything has been remade, but right now the most important thing was getting the 3D models back in a fully useable state, as there were various important pieces of progress that were stalled until the models were back in business. One main one being CG stuff. Here in Purple Dream, the CGs and artwork are made with the models as a reference, but it wasn't really possible to provide the references for CGs and artwork while the models were broken. The good news, is that is now over.

Another thing was a bit stalled was my ability to show gameplay. I want to share more in-game stuff, but the 3D gameplay is not very pleasing to the eye when you have broken T-posing models sliding around.

Right now I am currently working on the few remaining vital things for the 3D gameplay to be back in place, which is mainly making again the few animations I originally had in place.

Forgot to delve into this earlier in the post, but the rigging has seen huge improvements with the new skeleton I made for the characters. Animating and getting things done with the original rig was not very fun, this new rig on the other hand, is far less of a hassle to work with. I'm having more fun now.

Fairly simple post, as this part of development is still a work in progress. My goal for this month is finish re-integrating the 3D stuff and have some in-game pics and maybe even vids to share.
