Ted Lasso 3x08 Full Length Reaction

I absolutely believe Colin and Isaac will reconcile, and that Isaac will prevail as the beautiful soul we know he is 😊 The only reason I can think that we haven't seen more confrontation with Dr. Jacob is that Ted just isn't a confrontational person...but I would have enjoyed letting Rebecca take a whack at him 😂

Really? I'll have to look it up! I definitely had that thought--that Jack has grown up in a very specific world, with expectations and specific "values," that make it hard for her to behave any differently than she does. It doesn't make her actions right, but I agree that it also doesn't make her a wholly bad person. Besides Rupert, I don't think anyone on this show is wholly bad.

I'm still infuriated (or infuriated on Ted's behalf?) that there hasn't really been much confrontation of Dr. Jacob about him being their former marriage counselor. Grar. Also, totally with you on how Isaac is likely feeling about Colin. But I have much faith in Isaac's character--and this SHOW!!--that he will communicate that to Colin, and they'll work it out. The lovely thing is I can understand both Colin's point of view there and Isaac's, and they're both such honest human reactions, and I can't wait for the catharsis of their surely pending communication about it all, because it will be SO GOOD.

I don’t know your policy on posting links so I won’t, but there’s a good interview with Jodi Balfour where she talks about Jack and this episode. She thinks Jack is stuck in the patriarchy, and that her privileged life makes it hard for her to connect. She seems to echo your thoughts that Jack isn’t a bad person, just very wrong on this issue.

I completely agree that Roy was looking to punish the perpetrator(s). He wasn't being jealous - he was being protective. At the end of the day, this is how he was brought up - when someone harms a person you care about, you hurt them (think back to the "how to handle a bully" scariness). That doesn't EXCUSE what he did, but at least it came from a good place, if badly handled.

So…um…did you notice that Keeley co-wrote this episode? No…not that Keeley…but also maybe that Keeley, too? The writing credits for this episode are Keeley Hazell & Dylan Marron. The former is, of course, Bex (the actress playing her). But she’s also become a staff writer this season, with this episode becoming her first writing credit for a specific episode. Keeley Hazell feels a lot like she might have been a significant inspiration for the fictional Keeley…Hazell came up as a model who did a lot of pinups, magazines and topless photos, and was a Page 3 girl for The Sun. And, in 2007, a private video of her and her ex-boyfriend leaked. So this episode…I get the gist that this episode was very personal for her. Hazell recently wrote a memoir that is yet unpublished (but has a deal), called “Everyone’s Seen My Tits”. According to Variety, the memoir “ chronicles Keeley’s experiences and struggles being a young woman growing up in a working class, poor family on a council estate (the ‘projects’), to becoming an object of male desire as one of the UK’s most successful Page 3 and glamour models of all time. The book explores class, feminism, fame, abuse, sexual violence, and what it means to be a woman.” I’ll be interested in reading it. And yeah…I bet Hazell becoming a staff writer might be a reason the fictional Bex has gone up a point or two in your book, as she’s given a touch more depth too.

I agree…to me, it felt like Roy wanted to know who the next person he visits at 4 am is…but he asked it wrong, and when he realized his mistake, he couldn’t spit out the reason. Not that it makes it any better…good intentions with toxic results are still toxic, but his wanting to get revenge makes it about him and not Keeley.

No worries! I love hearing all your guys thoughts! As far as Roy, that was also my initial reaction, but someone else on here pointed out that it may also have been his knee jerk reaction to find out who leaked it and punish them (as he wanted to do with Bernard after he hurt Phoebe). I think it could be a combination of both, and evidence that Roy is still growing, and has a ways to go yet, as do they all. He's very much not over Keeley (understandable). I've been trying to give Jack the benefit of the doubt, but particularly after Shandy, maybe I should be a little more cynical 😅 I definitely agree on Nate, and I think that Jade has been good for him (very "Failure to Launch," in a way). She's helping him see his own value, and that he doesn't need to be like Rupert to get what he wants in life. You absolutely nailed it--season 1 Nate, just a little more grown up I'm not sure about Ted and Michelle. I think it possible, and you make a great point about Michelle needing to see him as more than just sweet Ted. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out!

Great point! I hadn't thought about it from that perspective, that Roy wanted to know who so that he could punish them. As for Nate and Jade, it just occurred to me that they remind me of that RomCom "Failure to Launch." Sarah Jessica Parker's character basically uses relationships to build men's self esteem, and help them "grow up" enough to move out of their parents house. I haven't seen it in years, so it may not be exactly what I remember, but that's what this makes me think of. I completely agree that Jade is helping Nate see his own value, the importance of being who he is and not who other people think he should be, and that he doesn't have to be Darth Nate to get what he wants in life. Looking forward to the return of Nate the Great 😊

I knew after I watched this episode that you'd love it. Yeah that Jack really continued to let me (personally) down. I also didn't appreciate Roy asking who it was for, because it's that jealous side of him that came out sometimes when he was dating her. But I can at least understand that after he heard about it he walked off and was probably stewing about it for the rest of the day. If he'd talked to someone about it (the Diamond Dogs, or Jamie) I think it wouldn't have even crossed his mind to ask her that. I liked Nate in this one a lot. Feels like season 1 Nate but just a bit more grown up. His only flaw was not feeling like he can tell Rupert what he wants to tell him. Thankfully he's learning with Jade. I think she makes him a better person and she will be the catalyst that moves him away from Rupert. I honestly think they're making it pretty obvious not only that Ted will go home but that he and Michelle are going to get back together. It seems in a way that Ted not being super positive all the time is actually appealing to Michelle. He's not super comfortable and is being petty but maybe in some weird way that's what Michelle needed? To see he's not just a pushover? I dunno. I see her looking more at him than I do her looking at Tesco Value Ted in this episode. I could be wrong. Wow I did not mean to write that much. Sorry. Great episode and great reaction as always Jacqui.

With Roy wanting to know where it leaked from it's like him asking for bernards address when Bernard was nasty to Pheobe. He goes for anger and wants to punish someone but he realised in the moment that it was wrong to ask. didn't need keely to spell it out for him this time. As for Nate my thought that Jade is going to bring him back to being Nate the great is being played out.

A beautiful episode of growth 😊 And yes, it's impossible not to sing along to "Hey Jude!" 😄
