Another parallel I think about compared to episode 3 is Frank tending to a wounded Bill. Bill assumes he's going to die and is already talking Frank through his plans for if that happens. Joel may not have the same planner mindset as Bill, but he immediately considers Ellie's life over his in telling her to leave for Tommy.
