As a comic book fan, I feel I need to defend Batman. He's a vigilante, but, especially when there's a competent writer, he's also a detective. Technically, he's the greatest detective. Unfortunately, when he's poorly written, he's just a bruiser with money. And that's that form you tend to see nowadays, especially in movies.

2025-03-11 05:22:02 +0000 UTCStephen Sondheim (legendary Broadway composer) was the fourth person in the Among Us zoom call that Blanc was involved with. His appearance is a subtle shout-out to a movie he co-wrote (with Anthony Perkins of PSYCHO) called THE LAST OF SHEILA, which loosely inspired parts of GLASS ONION. It's a fantastic murder mystery from the mid-70s, and it would make for an excellent reaction. Oh, and Batman is *absolutely* a detective, albeit primarily in the comics rather than the movies. Edited to add: Derol's purpose in the movie is both comic relief and for actor Noah Segan to have someone to play. He's appeared in all of Johnson's prior films, perhaps most memorably as Trooper Wagner in KNIVES OUT.
