October Update
Added 2018-10-14 17:01:44 +0000 UTCHi everyone,
There will be a content update this month. Kazeto already has it and will begin doing the tech side of things shortly. Testers/proofreaders will likely be emailed in the next day or so.
Starting on the 1st of November the payment tiers will be changing. While the amounts will remain the same, the rewards will be different. First, here is what's changing:
Old rewards:
Tier 1 ($1) - Access to the current build of the game.
Tier 2 ($2) - See posts and polls. All previous rewards.
Tier 3 ($5) - Comment on posts and vote in polls. All previous rewards.
Tier 4 ($20) - Submit your own ideas for future development through Patreon polls or posts. Your vote counts as +3 in the polls. All previous rewards.
Tier 5 ($50) - Access to the master outline (includes overarching plot points, planned story events, ideas for scenes and tentative endings). Access to updates about future, unreleased projects. An in-game character named after you. Your vote counts at +5 in the polls. All previous awards.
And the new:
Tier 1 ($1) - Access to the current build of The eWardrobe. Ability to view and comment on all posts.
Tier 2 ($2) - Access current builds of side projects. Ability to view and comment on all polls. Plus all previous rewards.
Tier 3 ($5) - Get bonus artwork/images when they're made. Join the eWardrobe discord. Plus all previous rewards.
Tier 4 ($20) - Submit your own ideas for future development through Patreon polls or posts. Counts for both eWardrobe and side projects. Your vote counts as +3 in the polls. Plus all previous rewards.
Tier 5 ($50) - Access to the master outline (includes overarching plot points, planned story events, ideas for scenes and tentative endings). Design your own in-game character in whatever game you choose. Your vote counts at +5 in the polls. Plus previous awards.
The TLDR of what's changed is that informative posts are accessible by all. For those who only care about The eWardrobe you still only need to pay $1.00. By doubling your pledge (at a whopping $2.00) you get access to a second (and eventually third) game. There will be an eWardrobe discord available for $5.00 and up.
Before I go any further, I want to make it clear that The eWardrobe is still the priority. My original goal was to do updates of 30k words every month, but most of the time the updates were between 40k-60k. This wasn't sustainable for me and I was writing nearly every day on top of working and helping care for a newborn. What's more likely is that 20k+ updates will be coming out and they'll be more manageable on my end, i.e. it might just be a single day or the weekend rather than doing half a week at once. Having a second project I can work on will also ease things. The eWardrobe is a huge tangle of plot threads and <<if>> codes and it's absolutely daunting to tackle at times. For a year I've avoided working on anything else and it shows, the game is twice the size of the average novel. It's the longest I've worked on a single story. I want to free myself to take a day off here and there or to spend a week on something else that I think supporters will like.
I have a number of ideas for smaller and shorter games that I'd like to develop while still working on The eWardrobe. Kazeto and I have already begun two, and one will soon be ready for its initial release. The plan is to do one update for The eWardrobe every month as well as a monthly update on one of these other projects.
I'm giving everyone a head's up now so that if you aren't happy with the tier changes you have ample time to alter your pledge.
Finally, thank you to everyone for your patience and support. Truthfully, I'm not in the best of places but I'm not quite at the mental rock bottom that I was.
Best,
-brick
