Speartember Day 12 - Meteor
Weapon (glaive), very rare (requires attunement)
—--------------
The Stellar Shatterer is a weapon developed by the Tower of Arcanum, crafted from a fragment of an extraplanar entity known as Stellavora, or "The Star Devourer." This fragment was salvaged during the 1st Chaos Insurgency, after Stellavora was defeated. Despite the Cerulean Observatory’s efforts to destroy all remnants of the Outsider, a wizard from the Tower, who had participated in the restoration of the continent, managed to smuggle a piece of one of the moons the creature had created.
Disregarding the warnings and protests of the Cerulean Observatory and the Trias Celestia council, the Tower of Arcanum pressed forward with its research into gravity and spatial magic, using the fragment in a series of bold experiments. The Stellar Shatterer is one of the many magical items born from these efforts. The weapon’s artificial gravity core, housed at the tip of the glaive, mimics the immense gravitational force of Stellavora’s moons. It can gather debris, manipulate gravitational forces, and propel itself, delivering devastating strikes by converting kinetic energy into raw destructive power.
—---------------
You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. While attuned to Stellar Shatterer, you have resistance to fall damage.
Gravitational Charge. As a bonus action, you can channel the weapon’s gravitational energy, gaining 1 charge. Whenever you score a critical hit with this weapon, roll a d4 and gain that many charges. The glaive can store up to 10 charges, which last for 1 minute. After gaining a charge, your next attack with the glaive deals an extra 1d10 fire damage, as the friction from the swing ignites the air.
Gravitational Propulsion. When you jump, you can use a bonus action to propel yourself in any direction, traveling a distance equal to 10 feet per charge stored in the glaive. This movement does not provoke opportunity attacks and can be made in a straight line, vertically or diagonally.
Meteor Fall. If you take fall damage while wielding Stellar Shatterer, you can use an action to convert all the charges and the fall’s energy into a devastating attack. Instead of taking the fall damage, you deal bludgeoning damage equal to the amount you would have taken, plus 1d6 fire damage per charge expended, to all creatures within 10 feet of the impact point. For every 3 charges expended, the radius of the impact increases by 5 feet. Creatures in the area must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw, taking full damage on a failed save or half on a success.
Additionally, creatures are pushed 10 feet away from the impact point (or 15 feet if more than 5 charges are expended), and those that fail the save are knocked prone. The area of impact becomes difficult terrain as the ground cracks and craters under the force of the fall. You can use Meteor Fall a number of times equal to half your proficiency bonus (rounded down) per long rest.
