Exercise and the Brain - (Script for new video)
Added 2016-12-18 21:43:16 +0000 UTCHey all,
Hope you're enjoying the cold weather.
I'd like to share this rough article I just finished that I'm about to turn into my next video. [PDF attached] (Spoiler Alert, about 85% of this will become the script for the upcoming video)
As per the title, it's about exercise. I've always had some sort of fitness routine (bit of calisthenics, weight training each week) but after reading John Ratey's book, I started exercising every morning. It's done wonders for my productivity. On days when I had a lot to do, I used to think "Well, I better save the workout for tomorrow since I don't have time." Now, I think "I have a lot to do, I better hit it hard today." I definitely recommend the book "Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain" to anyone.
The aim of the new video is to change the way people think about exercise. Exercise has been sold to us as a great way to "improve heart health," lose weight and acquire 'dat ass' . While appealing, these things are not compelling enough for most people to make exercise a routine. Exercise positively improves brain function to allow you to be more motivated, learn more efficiently, deal with stress and anxiety easier and just be more happy in general.
If there's anything about this topic you'd like to ask or mention, feel free.
Cheers,
Joseph
P.S. This is still a draft so you might run into some poor wording, grammar mistakes etc.

A friend and I were just talking about how to improve memory. What do you mean, like you forget the names of people right after you meet them or like you don't remember what you did last week?
