My Movie Pitch for WONDER WOMAN 3 (VIDEO SCRIPT)
Added 2021-10-20 20:00:03 +0000 UTCReaders, it’s been confirmed for a while now that a third Wonder Woman solo movie is on the way.
It pretty much happened days after the release of Wonder Woman 1984, which, depending on who you ask, was either great, had its moments, or didn’t live up to expectations
However, ever since they confirmed that a third Patty Jenkins directed Wonder Woman was on its way, I’ve been toying around with an idea regarding how it should actually go down.
What the plot would be, what themes it should have, which characters from Diana’s side of the DC mythos should be introduced, who she should be duking it out with...
And, because this is me we’re talking about here, which plot thread from the first Wonder Woman movie should be carried over to the third in order to make it a proper movie trilogy.
So I dedicated a...significant amount of time working up a story pitch for Wonder Woman 3. And I think I’m ready to share it with all of you.
I call it Wonder Woman: War of the Gods, and its inspired by the George Perez story of the same name published by DC Comics in the 90’s
And as you all know, Perez is a VERY important staple in Diana’s development in DC Comics. Just like he was with the Teen Titans. So hopefully my pitch and summary of the story does right by him.
Now considering who Diana is in both the comics and how she’s depicted in the DCEU, she -- in my opinion -- is in need of an epic that allows her to follow up on a few things that she’s been missing since 1984, and even Justice League. Which is why the main theme for this film is a strong want for family. Especially after being away from it for so long.
And because the theme is family, of course Hippolyta is going to be in it. But I also want to use the film as a way to introduce two VERY important characters from Diana’s mythos into the DCEU overall. Donna Troy, and Nubia
Now for reasons that’ll make more sense when I actually tell the story I crafted for War of the Gods, I would cast the child actress that plays young Diana for Donna. Trust me.
And while I currently don’t have an idea who would play Nubia as of now -- despite having ALL the time in the world to have chosen my cast before making this video -- I DO know who the villain of this story is, and who I would cast.
The villain, is Circe. And my casting choice is Charlize Theron. Because OF COURSE IT’S CHARLIZE THERON.
I also want to bring back Kristen Wiig’s Barbara Minerva, aka Cheetah. And if you saw my video regarding what I would do to make sure she was brought back for another adventure, then you kinda already have an idea on how I would go about doing so.
So if you don’t mind, and if you have the time (?), then sit back, relax, and let my pitch you my story, for the third Wonder Woman movie.
It’s the modern day 21st Century. The Justice League has been formed, Steppenwolf has been defeated, and the world now recognizes and acknowledges Diana’s Wonder Woman mantle as much as Batman’s and Superman’s.
/But despite all of that, Diana’s worried. Despite being able to shrug them off at the time of battle, Steppenwolf’s words about how easily he was able to mow through her Amazonian sisters upon the activation of the Motherbox still ring in her head./
Was what he said true? And what about her mother?
/Was sending the signal flare to let Diana know of Stepponwolf’s plans to prepare the earth for Darkseid her last act, or did she yet live? Diana HAS to know, consequences be damned. She has to return to Themyscira./
Now that she can fly, doing so is a breeze. She’s gassing herself up over the course of her time traveling there. Not only is she worried for the Amazons, but she’s low-key homesick. She’s hoping they’re truly all okay and that this can just be a reunion more than anything else. And more importantly, get a chance to hold her mother again, who she misses most of all.
/But, for anyone who’s seen the “Paradise Lost” two-parter of Justice League: The Animated Series, you know that’s not what she’s gonna witness by the time she gets back./
However, she doesn’t see Amazons turned into stone mid-battle like in the show. Of course she sees the aftermath of the ampitheater’s destruction when Steppenwolf first arrived for the Motherbox they guarded. But she also sees the Amazons in combat against an invading army of beastmen...
/And immediately assists the likes of Artemis and Philippus -- Hippolyta’s royal advisor./
After the battle finds the Amazonians victorious, the two regret to inform Diana that Hippolyta had been kidnapped by the individual who sent the army of beastmen.
Of course, there’s a bit of discourse regarding why they wouldn’t leave the island to find her in Diana’s anger and worry, but Philippus gives her not only a guarantee that the Amazons will be there if she needs them in the form of a calling horn, but that Hippolyta gave her instructions upon what to do if this situation occurred...
/Including where Diana needs to go in Man’s world for answers./
Meanwhile, a captured Hippolyta is approached by two other women.
/One of them being the human form of Barbara Minerva -- unaged since the last time we saw her in Wonder Woman 1984./
The other has dark brown hair and is in a fetching green dress. Using magic, she pulls a bit of Hippolyta’s essence from her, and the two go off to another room.
The woman then summons what looks to be a small ball of lightning in one hand that produces the screams...
/of a man with every crackle, combining it with the essence of Hippolyta./
Then with her magic, she molds and manipulates the two aspects until they become that of a young flesh and blood girl.
/She calls the girl Donna, introduces Barbara to her as her Aunt Minerva, and orders her to “find your sisters for me.”/
Diana, back in the world of man, goes to the coordinates Philippus gave her, and to her surprise is greeted -- albeit in combat...
/To the original owner of the Amazonian armor she wore to fight Barbara in her Cheetah form, Asteria./
Diana informs Asteria that Hippolyta has been kidnapped by an individual with an army of beastmen, and she immediately begins telling her about Circe and her participation in the fall of the old gods.
Circe -- like the first five Olympians of the pantheon -- was a goddess born of Titans who was devoted to Hekate; goddess of magic and the moon.
While she was fine with the fact that she wasn’t part of their number upon the formation of the pantheon, Circe began to grow spiteful against Zeus’s decision when she saw that seven of his offspring from a multitude of his lovers were offered positions instead of her.
/Including that of Ares, whom she helped in his plan to show Zeus how easily mankind can be coerced into killing each other./
But it turns out, Circe was using Ares. Because with every human he beguiled into war, Circe was able to siphon off a bit of his Olympian essence to create a potion that allowed her to absorb the soul of a god by force.
She chose to absorb the soul of Hekate and soon became one of the most powerful sorceresses in existence.
/Then through her newly acquired powers, captured the souls and powers of every single god that fell to Ares’s blade./
However, thanks to Hermes, Zeus learned of Circe’s participation in Ares’ coup -- along with her own personal motives -- and was able to act accordingly after his inevitable duel with his son. So after banishing Ares to the mortal world at his weakest, he was able to bind Circe to the island of Aeaea before concealing Themyscira in an invisible barrier and the floating island of Amazonia in a mystical field of mist, in order to keep the last of his offspring -- the Godkillers -- out of Ares and Circe’s sight.
Of course, this is NOTHING like the tale her mother told her about the fall of the old gods; she didn’t even know there was another island of Amazonians, let alone that one of the inhabitants on it is possibly a sibling of hers.
/And Ares told her nothing about Circe’s involvement in his plans when they fought during the events of World War 1./
But Asteria assures Diana that everything she conveyed was true, which leads Diana to question 2 things: How did Circe escape the island of Aeaea, and who is the second Godkiller?
Asteria doesn’t know the answer to the first question, but knows the name of the second Godkiller: Nubia.
Having interacted with her in the states a while ago, Asteria knows that she’s no longer on the island. But knowing that Zeus kept both Diana and Nubia concealed from Circe for a reason, Asteria informs that finding her is top priority now that Circe is free.
/So the two go to where Asteria saw her last to begin the search: New York./
Tracking her doesn’t take that long. Diana and Asteria discover that Nubia is along the lines of Diana’s field of work back in the 80’s and that the American Museum of Natural History is hosting a gala that she’ll more than likely attend.
/The two infiltrate the ball and split up to try and find her once Asteria puts a face to the name thanks to the display of museum curators being acknowledged./
And while they’re searching for Nubia, one of the songs playing in the background is “Wonder Woman” by Trey Songz. Because this is MY slumber party, so I get to choose the movie we watch!
Diana eventually finds Nubia, albeit unintentionally. Taking a break, she enters a bathroom and Nubia comes in, locking the door behind her, already knowing she was being looked for.
Diana, ecstatic at the idea of meeting her sister, introduces herself as such.
At first, Nubia just assumes she’s just another Amazon. But then Diana assures her that she’s her sister by blood; Zeus’s blood.
Nubia, now perplexed as to why no one told her the truth about her upbringing is assured by Diana having gone through the same thing, learning about it through confronting Ares. But before Diana is able to tell her about what’s going on with Circe, screams can be heard outside and the two dart off to see Barbara and Donna breaking into the gala and terrorizing the attendees.
Asteria meets back up with Diana and Nubia, and Barbara uses Diana’s shock and confusion to her sudden appearance to her advantage in order to separate her from the others. Soon its Barbara vs Diana, and Asteria and Nubia vs Donna.
/While Diana is surprised that Barbara is still able to go toe-to-toe with her -- not to mention looking the same way she did back in 1984 -- Donna’s ability in battle proves to be a bit too much for Asteria to handle./
When it gets down to Donna and Nubia, Donna struggles a bit when it comes to bringing herself to come to blows with her, as if she doesn’t want to fight Nubia for some reason.
But she doesn’t falter when Asteria tries to involve herself one last time, and Donna quickly and coldly finishes her off.
By the time this happens, Diana and Barbara both watch Donna fatally wound Asteria in shock. Diana rushes to Asteria’s side while Barbara addresses Donna’s actions, stating that they weren’t supposed to kill her.
Donna replies with a correction, saying they weren’t supposed to kill her sisters and that Asteria wasn’t. Then, taking advantage of Diana’s grief and Nubia’s attempt at consolation, Donna knocks both of them out and carries them out of the gala, while Barbara assists and dwells on her actions.
When Diana comes to, she’s in enchanted chains she can’t break out of and sees Circe seated on a throne above her and Barbara standing by her left side.
There we learn 2 things.
/The first being that Circe was freed from Zeus’s banishment thanks to the events of Justice League where the three motherboxes were combined, and then un-combined because of the time paradox made by her fellow league member Barry Allen./
As far as her plans, Circe -- now having the ability to absorb the souls of fallen gods -- plans on using her abilities to summon every greater and lesser god and goddess of every pantheon into the physical plane.
/Then, now that she finally has the soul of Ares thanks to Diana killing him during World War 1, use his abilities to stir them all into a bloody battle royale in order for them to kill each other, since “only a god can kill another god.”/
This will allow her to absorb the soul of every deity slain, until she grows powerful enough to conjure one final spell that involves the Godkillers in her possession as components for a global eradication of the ones that survive.
She sends Diana off to the dungeon where Hippolyta and Nubia are awaiting her, and Circe grants Barbara her PROPER Cheetah form once more before she’s also shackled.
She informs Barbara that in order to pull off the pantheonic eradication, she needs as many Godkillers as possible.
/And with the creation of Donna, and Barbara’s first wish from the Dreamstone still active, Circe now has 4 Godkillers under lock and key./
Meanwhile, Diana and Hippolyta are reunited, Diana introduces Nubia, and Donna watches over all three of them.
Diana finds a way of connecting to Donna once she learns that she was a creation of Circe’s magic. But once she learns that Donna was created to be another offspring of Hippolyta and Zeus -- an artificial Godkiller -- Diana starts reaching out to her as a blood sister, using herself, Hippolyta and Nubia to introduce to her the concept of family.
Donna, once cold, stoic and soulless, immediately starts to feel remorse for killing Asteria once she understands the concept of Amazonian sisterhood, and offers to help set things right.
Diana then instructs her to blow the horn given to her by Philippus and then free them, and the four prepare to take Circe down.
Circe meanwhile has succeeded in casting the spell necessary to summon every god in existence into the world of men, and begins planting the seeds of war in their minds. Yes, even in the minds of the gods of war.
Scenes of different one-on-ones and obviously one-sided fights involving gods of multiple faiths and beliefs appear all over the world, and the souls of the ones that fall all begin to funnel toward Circe’s palace in Aeaea. By the time Diana, Donna, Nubia and Hippolyta find their way to the palace, they fear that she’s grown too powerful.
That’s when they notice a caged Barbara -- now Cheetah once more -- and learn that she’s considered to be a 4th Godkiller because of her original Dreamstone wish back in the 80’s.
She agrees to help them stop Circe by telling her the location of where in the palace the necessary components are to keep up the spell if they let her go.
Diana, taking a step out on faith, agrees and Cheetah leads them to the area of the palace where the components are. Once they’re destroyed, the gods stop fighting worldwide and return to their proper planes of existence.
Realizing Diana and the others had something to do with the sudden stop of the war of the gods, Circe sicks her army of beastmen after them in order for her to begin work on her hail mary.
By the time they meet up with the five however, Artemis and Philippus arrive in Aeaea with a militia of Amazons. They fight off the beastmen and allow Diana and the others to properly armor up before going to put an end to Circe once and for all.
Nubia is given a blue and gold battle ready armor set, resembling that of her queen Nubia look from Nubia and the Amazons, and Donna is dressed in an armored Amazonian take of George Perez’s Wonder Girl costume.
Diana, Nubia, Donna, Hippolyta and Cheetah approach Circe’s quarters, and the fight is on. Circe -- now in green battle armor -- easily takes on Hippolyta, and can handle 2 out of the four Godkillers herself.
Then in order to turn the tide in her favor, Circe immediately casts a modified version of the Godkiller spell she had planned to eliminate the gods that have retreated, now made to use their gathered essence to wipe out all of mankind.
It starts affecting every demigoddess in the room -- Diana, Nubia, Donna and Cheetah -- placing them in a weakened state as their essence is slowly being gathered by Circe.
Hippolyta, unaffected by it considering she’s a pure-blooded Amazon, sees this as an opportunity to end Circe once and for all, knowing it may cost her life.
She says her goodbyes to a weeping Diana as Cheetah watches, draws her sword and charges toward Circe while she’s occupied.
But just as Circe notices her and is about to counter her sword swing with a fatal blow, Cheetah gathers enough strength to push Hippolyta out of the way and take the blow for her, only to throw it back Circe’s way after taking a significant amount of damage from it.
Surprised, Circe looks at Cheetah and asks “how?” Then she goes “Only a god can kill another god.” And the original blast meant for Hippolyta is directed immediately at Circe...
/Just like how Diana ended Ares all those years ago./
The spell is interrupted, Diana and the others have their energy restored, and Cheetah collapses on the floor, with only Circe’s eviscerated remains being present.
Diana immediately goes to check on Cheetah, who is reverting to her human self now that Circe’s magic isn’t present to keep her Cheetah form up.
Barbara then admits to finally understanding what it's TRULY like to be like Diana. It’s more than just being strong, sexy, cool and special. It also involves doing what’s right. She then thanks Diana for never giving up on her, before drawing her last breath and dying in her arms.
And that’s pretty much what I have so far. I’d imagine a funeral pyre would be given to Barbara when everyone returns to Themyscira, but I haven’t really contemplated how Circe’s death would affect the rest of the DCEU.
With their souls freed from her spell, does that mean the gods of the Greek Pantheon would be reincarnated for a chance of seeing them in a film version of Brian Azzarello’s New 52 run? Possibly.
It also opens them up for joining the Justice League for the final battle against Darkseid if they move on with a form of Zack Snyder’s original DCEU plans, or something completely different.
But with my pitch for a Wonder Woman 3, I feel like I’ve succeeded in giving Diana an arc that not only helps her accomplish the themes and development points that the first two movies initially inspired, but also shows just how important she -- and those associated with her -- is to the legacy of DC Comics.
But, I digress, Readers. Your homework assignment for the day:
Write in the comment section below, what YOUR pitch for the third Wonder Woman movie would be.
Or, y’know, critique the hell out of mine. Go over it with a fine-toothed comb. Cuss me out for killing off Aseria at the end of the second act. Do everything you need to do in order to feel better about yourself.
Either way, I’d love to know your thoughts.
