Added 2024-05-07 06:02:50 +0000 UTCFrom Arnie:
A few nice dinners. Went to see my neighbor play jazz in a bar. My dad had hip surgery but seems to be recovering well.
Emily and I went to the annual fundraiser gala for Ignite, a Chicago organization that helps with teen homelessness. (Martin Wilson and his wife were there as well.) If you’re interested in learning more about the good work Ignite does, here’s a link: Ignite - futures with promise™ (ignitepromise.org)
Also at my day job, Jackbox Games, we announced one of the things we’ve secretly been working on this year: The Jackbox Naughty Pack. You can learn more about that here: Jackbox Games - Jackbox Gets a Little Naughty

Balatro - Everything is Balatro
Lethal Company - We actually set everything up to record us playing Lethal Company as our characters as a Patreon bonus episode video but then realized at the last minute that it doesn’t work on Mac, so everyone couldn’t play. So… that idea has been delayed for the time being but it would be fun!!
Podcasts
Season 3 of Emily’s interview podcast, Who’s Missing, started this month, with very cool guests, including the casting director for The Bear. (I especially love the interview with the ASL artist and dancer from last season) Here’s a link: Who's Missing? (whosmissingpodcast.com)
I’ve been really enjoying the new MaxFun podcast Eurovangelists as I get ready to enjoy this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. And I was lucky enough to record an episode of that podcast which should be out sometime really soon.

From Matt:
April 2024
Feels like I was just writing the last newsletter. I wonder what happened this month?
Audio:
A couple of days ago, I randomly picked an older My Brother, My Brother and Me in the car and it was the first Count Donut episode. What a joy. Sorry I missed them when they were in Chicago. Listening to lots of 80s/90s Japanese City Pop in the car. Like old anime, it feels nostalgic while actually all being new to me. Of that time, but something I never experienced.
TV/Movies/Web stuff:
Lots of comfort TV and reality stuff. Just to ease the pain of life. Been feeling the itch to get back out to the theater or watch something a bit meatier. I started watching Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. Determined to get through the original 80s/90s Universal Century media sooner rather than later.
Games:
Cozy Grove. Still. Hit the 90 day mark. Feel like this will be winding down soon.
Food:
Trying to cook at home more. Want to learn to make red sauce from scratch. Maybe I’ll look it up a Mark Bittman recipe unless someone has a better idea for me. Do I need a food mill? PATRONS, HELP!
Matt
From Adal:
Here’s what I consumed in April. Let me know if you have any recommendations!
TV:
The Sympathizer
Sugar
Girls5Eva season 1
Bluey - bonus eps
Conan O’Brien Must Go
Welcome To Wrexham season 3
X-Men ‘97 - (I mentioned this last month and only bring it up again because episodes 5 and 8 of this show are absolutely fucking chef’s kiss. Nightcrawler has always been my favorite and I feel like episode 8 finally did justice to how flipping sweet that lil German can be)
Hacks season 3
Movies:
Civil War
The Parent Trap - Lohan version. Jemma insisted I watch since I had never seen it. So many shenanigans.
Kyle Kinane: Dirt Nap
Alex Edelman: Just For Us
Neal Brennan: Crazy Good
Demetri Martin: Demetri Deconstructed
Steve!
David Cross: Worst Daddy in the World

The Ink Spots - Ping Pong Percussion
The Ink Spots - Volume 2
Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties - In Lieu of Flowers
Glass Beams - Mahal
Maggie Rogers - Don’t Forget Me
Thom Yorke - Confidenza
Justice - Hyperdrama
St. Vincent - All Born Screaming

Other Stuffs:
Balatro - Arnie got me curious so I picked this up and now I keep sneaking more and more runs every night.
Hey Riddle Riddle also has a live show in Chicago July 25h at Lincoln Hall that we’re very excited for. More cities to be announced soon!
Hey Riddle Riddle’s ‘April of the Penguins’ just wrapped up. If you’re looking to root for a fictional baseball team made up of penguins - check out our store and I nudge you to support the Chicago Cool Birds.
Jemma and I are fostering 5 extremely tiny kittens and their mother. The mom is Ooh-La-La and her kits are Baguette, Bonjour, Fiancé, A’La Carte and Soupe du Jour!
I’ve been enjoying listening to the D’Arcy Carden hosted Wikihole podcast
My sister Sadieh introduced me to a fantastic newer Coffee Shop/Theater Bookstore in Chicago called The Understudy
Jemma and I are heading to Ireland in a couple weeks. If you have any tips/spots I’d love to hear them.
If you have the means I suggest donating to Palestine Children’s Relief Fund

Thanks for the Eurovangelists podcast recommendation, I'd been looking for a Eurovision podcast that spoke to me, and this is the one! I hope you enjoyed your Eurovision this year, Arnie, and that Foonovision is coming soon ;)

2024-05-13 01:42:27 +0000 UTCOhhh I’d love to know what @Adal thought of TTPD album? I was just in Ireland like 6 months ago, and absolutely loved it! Here’s my recs: - Highly recommend spending a few days in Galway if you can! It’s a quick train ride from Dublin, super close to Cliffs of Moher. - Anair in Galway has an incredible tasting menu - https://www.aniarrestaurant.ie/. They do a lot of local and seasonal ingredients, and I thought it was really reasonably priced (especially compared to tasting menu places in Chicago). Very chill vibe, and very tasty. - Wild Atlantic Way has a great day trip tour bus that picks up in Galway and takes you to Cliffs of Moher. It stops at a couple little places along the way, including a lunch in Doolin, which was super cute. Touristy, but highly recommend!! Great way to see some country side without having to drive yourself.
