Certainly beats teaching the "quotient rule", lol. Interesting story: I had the realization early on that the product rule had an elegant intuition as looking at the rate of change of the area of a rectangle. My indignation at not having had this explained, and instead being given the "proof by adding and subtracting the same quantity" was one of my first clues that math education is done very, very badly in the US. Many more "clues" soon followed. I would even go so far as to say, recognizing how bad most mathematical explanations were and writing my own was pretty much the reason I became a mathematician at all. It turned out, I just learned math way better than most others, after that realization. This clip you just posted brought back fond memories. Not that it surprises me you've seen all this yourself - your mathematical mind is so much like mine it's weird sometimes, Grant. The fact that you're animating it for thousands to watch... well, I think you can see why I value your work enough to support. Speaking of valuing your work, thanks for your fractal video, again. I worked with a high school student on it. The kid figured out the dimension of the Cantor Set after watching it, no prep. I know grad students, hell, professors, who don't know how to do that.
