Still working away at the game between comic updates. Being able to see results on the screen make it seem like I've gotten more done in the past week that I have the past year of writing and planning.
This past week I've mostly been working on the coding part of the visuals, both character display and GUI customizations. Ren'Py has a lot of amazing features, but a lot of the documentation for it is ether outdated or spread across countless forum threads.
I've currently reworked my character images to include breathing and random blinking animations using only a few overlay images and some handy Ren'Py image handlers. This should help keep the overall file size down since the overlays are only a few kb in size compared to the size of a 30-45 frame animated image. Not that I will not be using those for larger scenes in the game, but no point in waiting space on idle animations.
Once I touch up some more of the custom GUI work I'm doing, I will see about compiling a 'Demo' for people to try out. It will be more of a Tech Demo than a game demo, since much of the game exists only as text until I can gradually produce more renders for the new character system. So I will likely only have a small part of the prologue included in the demo, but it will hopefully give you an idea of what I want to achieve for the game visually.
