Experimenting with higher resolution pages

I'm looking to increase the image sizes of the comic pages and am experimenting with the most recent page. Can you guys tell me if it's loading okay? (You may need to refresh the page)

Experimenting with higher resolution pages

Comments

That's great to hear!

Sen

Looks great, thanks! The standard webpage sizes were starting to get too hard on the eyes due to the lower resolution for a few years back. Makes skipping back and forth between comics for refreshing the memory so much easier on the eyes now.

Orlet Soir

Made some more progress: now every page all the way back to DS #89 has been updated!

Sen

No issues for me. I have Verizon FiOS, only the slightest additional delay loading.

Dan Franklin

Loads fine for me. Side note, please please please tell me you're going to sell the WizHard tank top. I want one so bad

OftenSane

No problems on my crappy Windows minicomputer.

Patrick Gamblin

No issues with load time, and agreed with everyone that say it's worth it!

Marius Ellingsen

across the ocean, it takes 4.5s to load the image on 300MBps connection. Quality is noticeably better though and worth it. Top of image appears instantly, so probably most readers wont even see if the bottom is still loading.

Bernard

Whole page loaded in less than a second. I do have very good internet, though.

Mike Chapman

I'd say 1900x1200 or under

Sen

What would you consider is lower res? Thanks!

allanfranta

it loaded very quickly for me!

Alex W

Looks good on my iPad Air (new model) in the Patreon app. I can see the whole wizard collection clearly.

William Cole

Works fine for me; the images do take (a little) more time to load, but I don't think it is significant and I doubt the download-time is enough to annoy anyone. Spider Mod posted saying it took 10sec to download a page which is about as much as I'd want to wait (if I wasn't as invested in this story as I am -- personally I'll wait as much time as it takes). Thus, I think a valid question would be: if someone new is coming to the site for the first time, will the download times associated with binge-reading everything annoy those folks?

Michael Voorhis

Thanks for the feedback! I'm going go slowly roll out the image upsizing. Currently Dark Science #158-153 are now his res!

Sen

Ditto! I've got Bay Area ethernet with 87.0 Mbps download speed for reference, loads within a second.

Dylan Fox

Works for me.

William McBrine

Looks good!

Hugh Eckert

Looks great on an iPhone 13 mini

Wtcher

hires works better imo, especially with how densely packed the pages are

Maxx

Loads just a touch slower than other pages, but definitely worth it for the visual upgrade!

It's Lina

That's a good point! It looks readable on my lower res side monitor but I'd like to hear more from people with lower res displays.

Sen

Loaded instantly and is crystal clear!

James Fraleigh

Looks great on a 5k external display, laptop display, and phone (all retina/hi-dpi), so πŸ’― from me. You'll also want feedback on how it looks on lower-DPI displays. Offhand, I think pretty much everything will come through fine, but I'd want to confirm the lighter line-weight text on the meal tray bubbles.

John Whitley

Loaded plenty fast for me, and it looks _gorgeous_

Paul Cantrell

Working here

Eric Logan

It took about 10-ish seconds to fully load everything

Spider Mod

Looks good in Chrome

Michael Sperry

Loaded fine on my phone. Though when I zoomed in to see the higher resolution I saw a few JPEG compression artifacts ;)

Lonjil

Loaded just fine for me on mobile.

Maia Godfrey

Flawlessly for me.

Crawley

Looks good on Firefox Android.

Orion Rhine

Works for me~
