Countryside Ayaka

A small collection of pics and two BTS videos last week's shoot.
I've been planning this one for a while; in fact, I bought the cosplay specifically to make a video outside.
Carnelian and I actually have an agreement to schedule shoots at least 7 days in advance but considering the dependency on weather she let this one slide. I literally messaged her like 'SORRY SUNNY WEATHER TOMORROW CAN YOU DO IT'. She's also the only one in the studio with a drivers license. And she has accounts in multiple car sharing services. Bosh!
The location is very very scenic but that means it's also popular. There were at least 3 other groups of people occupying the tree area so we had no choice but to retreat further into the field. A family with a blanket and a bunch of food took up a lot of space near the oak and they had a small child so we didn't want to disturb them too much with the popping.
It sucked that I couldn't get the prettiest shots with the tree but Carnelian was feeling like the branches would have popped our helium bouquet anyway. She somehow managed to pop one balloon with a traffic sign on the way to the clearing... impressive.
Much like with the cosplay I also knew I wanted to shoot widescreen way ahead of time. Not too much variety of anamorphic lenses in local rentals but there are a couple of sets. This was shot on a Sirui Saturn and hooolyyy I think I'm in love with the format. The flares are nice yeah, but mostly it's the way it softens out near the corners and the way it separates your subject from the background... awesome stuff. Desqueeze and stuff that in a scope aspect ratio; there's your binema.
Sadly the complications with other people at the location and difficulties managing equipment (I haven't properly pulled focus in YEARS) led to some flaws in the video but it still well worth the price in my opinion.

<div ><div><span class="text">First shot is a straight up fairy tale. Unique photo that deserves to be saved in time. Nature shots also incredibly good. But why is that shawerma that smol. It should be bigger, longer, meatier. And crunchier</span></div><div></div></div>
