It's older, more mature, and darker. Korra is the polar opposite of Aang, and people can't not compare the two. There are also circumstances that affected the writing of future seasons of LOK, more on that later. Too soon. ;)

These last episodes of the season are really turning up! Abi your theory about Amon does kind of line up with his explanation of his power at the rally; that he got it from the Spirits. The mutant children / Bi-racial conversation was like your version of The Elephant in the room from the last Bojack Episode.
