Definitely give the Dark Tower a go! It's technically fantasy, but has like weird steampunk elements, sci fi, time travel... it's a mish mash of genres really.

I’m Aussie myself (and we’re the same age!) It’s very funny when I come across people who don’t think my accent is “Aussie” enough (usually Americans who don’t know an Aussie). Although, I’ve had a fair few people (Aussies) ask me whether I’m from other countries (America, New Zealand) so maybe I say certain words with a weird accent.
