Jayne back in the first episode did say he might turn on the captain if the money was good enough... Although I think we get hints that he's not all about the money. Between Jaynestown and this one, we see there is maybe some better person in there, but he doesn't even really know how to begin to overcome his darker nature. Mal obviously sees there is a redeeming trait in him when Jayne asks him not to tell the others he betrayed them - something that shows Jayne is ashamed of what he did, not just sorry that he got caught.

2023-11-06 19:50:16 +0000 UTCI never liked this episode, and it's only because what they made Jayne do. Jayne was my favorite character except for his betrayal flaw. I feel like the writers did him dirty on that character flaw.
