The plot is brilliant, but what really struck me this time was the inventive way it was edited. You had the music playing in the background, that would hard cut off when something changed in the scene. There's all these weird shots and quick cuts to other scenes, it all just adds to the disturbing atmosphere. Such an amazing film.
There's also a cool little detail in here. In the original version of Scarface (not the 1982 version - though I do strongly recommend that one) - before a character is about to die, there would be a "X" shadow cast over them.
In this movie, we likewise see an X in the background before a character gets killed (like when Colin dies at the end, there is an X printed on the carpet outside his apartment).
