No doubt it's a commercial decision as well but copying and using others work is just wrong on so many levels. Ian never struck me as that kind of person but hey we only see what you produce and publish. The environment you host this in for me is very relaxing, a few chooks, plane or silence who cares i found it relaxing not being in a studio or the like. .22 LR was my first lever gun and always liked the system.

2024-12-25 22:20:44 +0000 UTCWRT the 1895 Winnie, there needs to be some serious historical research done on the modifications Winchester made per their WW1 contract w/ Russia to outfit it w/ clip feeding, and making some modern "repro" kit of those changes available such that it will accept clip feeding for the .30-'06 cartridge [the most widely available chambering for the repops Miroku did for Browning firearms.] As it stands, the "insert base, push down and rotate cartridge forward" nonsense is slower to reload than a tube mag w/ King's gate lever gun. DAMHIK If some bright spark out there comes up w/ a 3DP charger for the 1895 that will allow faster reloading of the beast, I'd happily shoot mine more & even look into mounting a scout scope on it. But AFAIK, there's no rapid "strip'em in" option for anything but the rifles Winchester made for the Czar...

PS: Thanks for more deets on your falling out w/ Ian: I know it can't be easy to discuss, and I don't recall you ever giving that much detail about it in the past [I attributed this to your taking the high-road and just not talking about it beyond making the statement that your collabs were over and each going their own way.]

I only have the bare minimum exposure to high power matches needed to qualify for the old DCM [now CMP] M1 Garand purchase, but that's my recollection of the rules I read long ago... C'mon Karl, go for President's Hundred! We're behind you!

My favorite single-action revolver is my 7.5 inch Cimarron 1872 open-top army repro in 38 Special/38 Colt. There is just something about the Colt design.
