Firearms vs "Health Insurance" - Which one is more dangerous to public health?

In this video we sit down with Dr. Laufer of the Four Thieves Vinegar Collective, an anarchist medical group, to discuss two issues that face Americans as public health concerns - firearms and "health insurance". Statistically, which one is more dangerous to you?

These Four Thieves folks sound like my kind of people. Thank you! If you want to get some more good data on how much we spend on health care in the US, along with how little we get for it, one good place is the Peterson - Kaiser Family Foundation (not affiliated with Kaiser Permanente the health care provider/insurer) website. https://www.healthsystemtracker.org/

as a medical professional, this is a fascinating topic. As a group we are so prone to ignoring or belittling parts of the general public that carry an instinctive doubt about the system. The tension between "freedom" and "safety" is intrinsic to the American experiment.

Excellent conversation. Still waiting for the over-hyped media coverage to start mis-reporting on the suppressor and how it was obtained. Once when having trouble with a medication and insurance coverage, I told the pharmacy I'd pay for it myself. The pharmacy staff was utterly confused and bewildered by that. They didn't know how to do so without insurance. Insurance got cleared up quickly, but it still annoys me that paying without insurance wasn't possible.

Fantastic analysis, as usual Karl. Thank you for creating this type of content.

Over here in Sweden - a socialist country with good nation-state healthcare by most accounts - my mother read me a news article over lunch just a couple of hours ago, discussing the massive, honestly *problem* that the US healthcare system is. My hopes, though they will most likely not be realised; rather washed away by regular media coverage of the how and the who, is that this question is brought up in more places, by more people. The chances of that over here are slim, at best, because the "only reason" to have a firearm is if you're a hunter, a target shooter, or part of the police or military, so the discussion about the "why" of firearms - "why" as in "why are people allowed to[...]" - is most likely gonna take up more media space than any discussion of why the shooting happened. "Why"s are important; they help you understand, rather than just speculate.

there is A LOT of political sand into peoples eyes going on since... in germany concerning knife attacks. outlaw some kind of blades, silly "knife free zones" where cops confiscating a bunch... . same thing. the "tool"(lack better term) doesn't matter one bit. the illegal act or will to commit it does. lousy example but truely shows where is a will somebody will find some way.
