What Combat Type should we cover next?
Added 2025-05-31 15:00:03 +0000 UTCIn one of our first videos, we talked about 8 Types of Combat, and since then, we've two specific types; the Ambush and the Boss Battle. But there's six more, which types are you looking forward to the most?

I really love the concept of the Elite Team (and just generally cool/complex stat blocks like things done in Flee Mortals). The issue is I find that I often get overwhelmed by trying to manage all of the various mechanics that might be found on 3 or more unique and non-basic stat blocks (especially abilities that trigger in reaction to something that happens off turn) when its put on top of all the other DM duties. The mental load of complex stat blocks on top of trying to make sure the pace is kept fast, making sure that players aren't accidentally messing up their own abilities and narrating the action leads to me missing things and feeling like I botched the encounter. I know the answer is "more practice will lead to better execution" but of course I'm still looking for a silver bullet that will make it all easy.

2025-05-31 16:52:43 +0000 UTCJust my opinion, but I want to do different contests or tournaments in my game world more. That sweet sweet rivalry calls to me. Mostly as an easy and narratively fulfilling reason for why other lucrative jobs that the party planned on taking aren't available anymore. Let their hatred grow as they hear about the exploits in rumors of the other party. Since seeing Matt Mercer do the Museum heist with Bell's Hells I want fun dynamics like that and have succeeded sometimes but you have a way of distilling wisdom about the hobby to its core. (If you include the show Leverage, you'll have a viewer for life. The show is super anti-capitalist which BLeeM would love and great character development.)
