Failed Gouache Landscape Study
Added 2023-03-26 22:22:15 +0000 UTCArt others create with gouache consistently amazes me; I however, am once again at odds with the medium itself rather than any technical, academic concept: of my piece's flaws, I'm painfully aware, but most corrective efforts caused further issues I failed to resolve with graphite or digital methods.
Naturally, the artist, not the materials, is responsible for the final result, yet with each attempt, the more precarious gouache becomes in my long-term practice...partially, I wish to master it simply to prove I can, but do I expect to pursue every medium I've no interest in simply since others have...? I'd rather not...gouache, for me, was selected by circumstance, not inherent desire and, once I've access to oils, I'll not likely return...'til then, more concerted attempts'll be made. Who knows? Perhaps a deeper appreciation'll develop 'fore I advance...
